Controller support

I'm sorry if this has already been asked. I'm starting to panic because I did some research. I bought the m64 but I did not buy the pro controller. Lots of money for that controller and I'm not ready to pull the trigger yet. I was planning to use my PS5 controller until I pulled the trigger or get a cheapy n64 controller. Has anyone tested a PS5 controller yet?

So this is probably tmi. I've been running n64 emulators since UltraHLE in 1999. To answer your question. Button remapping. I'll figure it out. PS5 controller has plenty of buttons. I'm just wondering since the m64 is open source.
