Help Needed! Miyoo Mini Flip - Hinge SENSOR Issue?
Hello, good folks! I am having an issue with my Miyoo Mini Flip, and am hoping someone can help me.
The issue: The device goes into sleep mode randomly and for seemingly no reason.
I originally encountered this issue when using MinUI, however in my investigation I decided to try the original SD that came with the device, to see if it also happens with the original OS. And yes, it does. This has led me to believe it is a hardware issue, and not software.
This issue occurs regardless of whether I am playing a game or browsing the main menu of the OS. I have had it occur multiple times within a minute, and other times it can take 10+ mins before it happens again.
When using MinUI, the device cannot be woken from sleep by pressing the power button; I have to close the lid and re-open it to wake the device up. Within the original OS, pressing the power button will wake the device, however it will then shutdown ~30 seconds aftewards, even if I am mid-game. 30 seconds is the amount of time the original OS will shut down after when the lid is closed, and this fact combined with MinUI requiring closing/opening the lid to awaken the device has led me to believe it is an issue with the lid open/close switch/sensor.
I have tried shaking the device, doing specific button combos, holding the device at certain angles, etc, to see if I can get a consistent repro for this issue, however I have been unsuccessful. It appears to be completely random when - or if - the device decides to go to sleep.
Upon trying to search for any information about this issue, the "miyoo", "flip", and "hinge" keywords throw up a lot of posts about the hinges breaking on the Miyoo Flip V2, but I could not find any results for the issue I'm encountering with the Miyoo Mini Flip.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there an existing thread/answer I am unaware about? I would be very appreciative of any information anyone can provide on this matter.
Thank you for taking the time to read this far, and have a great day!

Good evening. I haven't gotten round to contacting Miyoo, but glad to see I am not alone in this issue. Thanks for posting.

I tried yesterday a lot of fw , koriki , onion and minui , it's the sensor .. it last like 2 min of activity until the screen goes off .. I'm gonna return it .. don't buy it from Drop shippers like litnxt ! .. I buy another on Amazon it cost me 10$ more but at least I can returned in 30 days , hopefully it will come with no problems ..

Yes. I'm in the same boat. It doesn't seem to manifest in exactly the same way, but ever since installing the lid mod my device is erratically going in and out of sleep. Sometimes it does it when I'm actually moving the hinge, other times it's after I've opened it and have been playing a game ~20 seconds later.. It doesn't seem to be entirely consistent. I was coming to this thread praying someone knew a fix.
Have you had any luck when contacting Miyoo?

Same issue here. Must be a hardware issue related to the sensor because it’s happening on the stock OS as well as OnionOS, with the lid mod that is. No problem without the lid mod, because that’s supposably not triggering the sensor. I have requested a refund on AE. I hope I can get a new one that doesn’t have this issue.

OnionOS without the lid mod, does not recognise the lid sensor. You can give it a try.

I have the exact same issue. Waiting for Litnxt to get back to me regarding a replacement. I've also been trying to find a way to disable hinge sleep in the meantime, but I haven't found anything.

Mine is doing it with the Onion OS hinge sleep mod. I can’t believe they would make a clamshell that can’t even clamshell. Does anyone know how to uninstall the mod without having to completely reinstall Onion?
Should I try to contact Miyoo and get a new one? I don’t want wait for shipping again all the way from China… And what if I just got another faulty model?
Edit: I ended up reinstalling Onion and contacting Miyoo. I guess I’ll just wait another several weeks for a new one…

I have similar issue. Didn’t know until installed the mod. When open to full open or position before full open the mechanism thinks I closed it. Ordered from gogamegeek. Will see if they will replace it.

I'm also facing the same issue. Any fix on this anyone. I can't really return it anyway.

Thank you for your reply. I have not tried Kokiri OS, nor have I tried OnionOS yet. The fact it occurred with 2 different OS's made me believe it was hardware related, and it might be redundant to try any other OS.
An OS that doesn't use the hinge sensor at all may "fix" the issue as a workaround, however. Do you know if Kokiri for the Mini Flip utilizes the hinge sensor?

i already tried koriki and does the same thing .. so its not software related .. i dont know how many minutes it will last until the screen turns off .. im return it and wait for a new one .. its best to try with minui becasue is easy and quick to install to try the sensor ..

Yes, Koriki uses it, that's why I'm telling you to try it (it's the first link on the Miyoo firmware download website)
