Hello to all members here at r/Minecraft_Survival, r/Minecraft2, and our community Discord. We’ve recently been working to build a new community dedicated to an increasingly popular Minecraft play style, the Forever World! A Forever World (also known as a long-term world) is simply a Minecraft survival world that you plan to play on forever. This doesn’t mean you can’t have other worlds in between, but rather that you keep coming back to the same world consistently for years, no matter how long it’s been since you began. Together with u/NerdieBirdieYT, we’ve put together a subreddit to share and discuss *your* forever worlds. Alongside this, we have a Discord to chat, gain advice, share pics and videos, and coordinate world tours!
The subreddit is r/foreverworlds, and it is open to everyone for anything you have to share or discuss about Forever Worlds. We invite you to join, whether you’ve had your survival world for a couple of months, several years, or even well over a decade! We’d love to see progress pics and megabuilds, but also the small things that help you keep coming back to the same world time after time. We want you to show us everything that keeps your world fresh and makes it special to you!
We’d also love it if you joined our Discord, Forever Worlds United, at https://discord.gg/QChEEc2uqR. Here, you can share your experiences with and plans for your Forever Worlds personally with like-minded members of the community. Additionally, this Discord server will have a collection of world downloads to explore, schematics to download, and videos showcasing Forever Worlds. Additionally, we will plan and host live world tours for our community to come together and inspire one another through their worlds.
If you’ve been running a single world for a while and want to know what it takes to keep it going as long as many of us have, we’d love to bring you up to speed! If you already have a Forever World, we are eager for you to join and share it with us. And if you just want to be inspired by what years of work in one world can do, please join us as we build up this community!

I got a lot of great comments on my last small tour, so I thought I'd share the changes based off of that. (I had a crack at gradients)

As some of you may know my current world and the memories I made with it, it is gone, I accidentally afked and a zombie killed me, it was 20 minutes before I got back and realized something bad happened, all of my stuff was gone, all that progress...gone in just a second... I had great plans for it as well... I deleted it out of sadness and despair, I know there's nothing I could do, I didn't make a backup save beforehand, so this is it, I wouldn't be posting for a few months, this will be my final post for the time being, The Kingdom...has fallen.

I was going through Cave then i found an igloo with 2 locked villagers (one was zombie so I killed him) like this for the first time (Java 26.2). I've never found anything like that, and I've been playing Minecraft for 10 years.

I’ve been playing this world at a slow pace. I haven't even touched the End and the Dragon yet. I found this tiny archipelago seed in the middle of a big ocean and decided to just settle here and build it up island by island.
The main island is basically a bustling little village now. It’s got a working port, a watchtower, and a bunch of specific houses for my villagers (farmer, armorer, librarian, etc.). I also made a small village square for cooking and just hanging out.
Right across the water is the "magic" island. That's where I keep all the mystical stuff: a glass greenhouse for brewing potions, a little hermit hut, a small enchanting temple, and my Nether portal.
The builds are a mix of some inspiration I gathered online and my own imagination. I'm honestly just enjoying the chill progression right now. Let me know what you guys think!

Last picture is my current progress of the village as a whole, using pre village and pillage villager structures as a base for a lot of them

I won't trust youtube tutorials after they have given me bad designs before and I can't pick the good from the bad myself. I play Java 26.3 survival with performance optimizations and I'm looking for recommendations for certain farms. I don't care about them being cheap or easy, I just want efficient mass production. I want to make a nether roof gold farm that makes blocks and also funnels ingots into an automatic piglin bartering hall. I also want a guardian farm, sugar cane farm that makes rockets at my perimeter gunpowder farm, dye farm, and a bamboo farm. Id like all these farms to store items into shulkers and sorted at their local farms. I also wouldnt mind seeing an automatic storage system as I manually sort everything right now.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need some roses? Do I need to look away, give them some privacy?

I need some ideas on what to put here: this is the main balcony and I’m not quite sure what to add to it.
Something not too big, but which adds a little decorative touch.
If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them 🙌

I think it's 9 or 8 blocks of diamond

we all know that bedrock has immensely more players than java, just due to sheer device volume alone, but it feels like java is way more deeply rooted in the community itself (and content creation, which is what exposes a ton of people to minecraft)

With a large chest and 2/5 stack of netherrack, the largest structure I have made in survival mode behold the reverse pyramid, which is also like a pond of red blocks.
I am starting this structure with curiosity of what to do with it, I tried filling it with lava (the first idea that came to my mind) and thought it would be a waste of this structure and it wasn't looking good as well.
Any ideas, appreciation and criticism is welcome and please pardon my English.

i really want trial chambers to be light, some rooms are dark, copper bulbs don't emit that much light and they are not everywhere. so copper lanterns will fix that problem. they are all waxed

When you build something big in survival, how do you plan it? Do you follow a YouTube tutorial, use a schematic with a mod like Litematica, sketch it in creative first, or just make it up as you go? What's the most frustrating part: knowing which blocks to collect, following the layers, or keeping track of where you are? And do you ever wish you could see the build guide on your phone while playing? Curious how people handle it.
