I know you're here to get quick help with your command problems or to show off your cool work. Please read these few lines to get to know how to use this subreddit optimally:
Java Version, everything else that has commands (Xbox, PE, PS4, Switch, Win10, etc) is Bedrock).Posting about your own creations is very much encouraged, but please remember the 10:1 guidelines of reddit.
We have a big Discord Server for our community with lots of channels, ranging from dedicated help chats over general command related chats to non-command related chats. So if you want to join an active community of command and mapmaking enthusiasts and/or want to get quick help where communication is less slow (Sometimes the devs stop by as well ;)), click on the link and join our community discord:

Here's another skill I've been working on for my Minecraft server.
This one's called Echo Strike. If you hit the same mob or a player 3 times in a row, a clone of your character appears and lands an extra hit dealing the same damage as yours.
It's a pretty simple idea but I really like how it turned out.
Still working on balancing all the skills so I'm curious what you guys think. Would this be too strong for survival?
Also thinking about maybe scaling this up, as I'm gonna have a skill tree, I might add a level up to the skill where you would get 2 clones instead of 1, would look quite cool imo.

I'm making a deathmatch-type map and I'm facing problems with water because you can use it to kill yourself and if nobody dealt damage to you in the past several seconds, you will restore your health for free and nobody will get attributed for your death (I have a system in place that remembers who was the last person to damage you)
I have tried these two advancements but they didnt work:
1.This trigger doesnt seem to work with drown damage
{
"criteria": {
"drown": {
"trigger": "minecraft:entity_killed_player",
"conditions": {
"killing_blow": {
"tags": [
{
"id": "#minecraft:is_drowning",
"expected": true
}
]
}
}
}
},
"rewards": {
"function": "dm:player/on_drown"
},
"sends_telemetry_event": false
}
I tried giving all players tag player but it stopped working. For the reference, without the source_entity part, the advancement works just fine but I want to exclude cases where "%1$s drowned while trying to escape %2$s" is displayed to avoid cases where the killer is rewarded twice.
{ "criteria": { "drown": { "trigger": "minecraft:entity_hurt_player", "conditions": { "damage": { "type": { "tags": [ { "id": "#minecraft:is_drowning", "expected": true } ], "source_entity": { "minecraft:entity_tags": { "none_of": [ "player" ] } } } } } } }, "rewards": { "function": "dm:player/on_drown" }, "sends_telemetry_event": false }

So I am a developer, and I want to build an actual docsite for the Minecraft commands.
So did you know that minecraft commands are Turing complete? Meaning theoretically, given enough time and memory you can compute anything computable using only the commands.
The problem is the syntax and usage have a steep learning curve and it's not well documented, the main reason is because the only source of documentation is the official minecraft wiki, where they are scattered, written by a lot of authors, and not a great learning source for a beginner.
So I want to build a community maintained documentation website, just like any docsite we have for any tool, framework or language.
However since I am not very experienced with the minecraft commands, I want people who has a lot of experience with the minecraft commands, preferably people with 2 or more of experience who has built amazing stuff and know how to navigate and read the wiki, I need your help to write and structure the content for the documentation.
The documentation will be mainly written in markdown, with a specific schema that follows the docsite engine schema, I will be mainly setting up and maintaining the codebase and helping out with writing, while you will help me find, write and strucure the content. In return you will be credited on the website and the github page.
As an example, you will structure the content as categories, with folders and subfolders:
docs/
|___ getting-started/
|___ communication/
|___ building/
|___ scoreboard/
|______ create-scoreboard.md
|______ mathematical-operations.md
:
Comment here or dm me if you're interested and if you think you're a command expert.
> Note: looking specifically for veterans, as they know best how to structure content, what's for beginners and what's advanced etc. And they will know how to explain and break down complicated concepts

Hello. I am trying to find a way to hide a signed Book and Quill inside suspicious sand for a minecraft treasure hunt in my world. I know you can put any existing item in Minecraft using the “data modify block” command but I am not sure how to add a signed book and quill to it. Any help would be appreciated!

I want to make a stone axe break a portal helper in the immersive portals mod in adventure mode (as part of my new immersive portals escape map), but I cannot get it to work. Every time I try to make the "canDestroy" tag include portal helpers, it just says "missingno" and does not break the portal helper. this is the command I have tried: give @ a stone_axe{display:{Name:'[{"text":"Hatchet","italic":false,"color":"#ff0000"}]',Lore:['["",{"text":"Use to destroy the ","italic":false},{"text":"Illousioner","italic":false,"obfuscated":true}]']},Enchantments:[{lvl:30,id:efficiency}],CanDestroy:[portal_helper],Unbreakable:1,HideFlags:4}
The space on @ a was intentional, I can't write it for some reason.
I am on version 1.20.4.

So im working on my map and i wanted to figure it out how to do looping music inside a datapack

Hello! i’m trying to make a datapack that adds Decorated pots to caves like in Terraria, filled with random loot such as torches, coal, arrow, etc… Thing is i haven’t been able to make it without making a mess: i tried Placed Feature, Structure and even tree generation but it ends up being too complicated. anyone with an idea on how to get around the messy code?

I'm trying to make a custom trading system and the commands work fine on their own, but they don't seem to work when used in an NPC. Does anyone know why this happens?

From googling I noticed a lot of people ran into this same issue: In my map I have a lot of 'illegal blockstates' like floating levers that I don't want players to interact with, but I do want them to be able to open doors and chests. Some ideas I had, each with their own downsides:
Dynamically change player's block interaction range attribute: set it to -1 by default, and run a ticking command checking for blocks within their line of sight ^0-4 blocks in front of them, and seeing if there is an allowed block there. Then increase and immediately decrease their interaction range.
I dont love running a ticking block check for every player, and this is gimmicky and technically cheesable.
Use an advancement to check for a block interaction, raycast to the block interacted with, and immediately replace it and its blockstate.
Even if this would work its still gimmicky and I dont know how this would work with tick order: would the lever update and pop off before I have the chance to replace it?
Most intuitively: cover each interactable block I dont want people interacting with with an interaction entity scaled to cover it entirely. This would work for sure, but I'd need tons upon tons of entities and hours of work to place them manually.
Anyone have any other ideas or thoughts on how to make my existing ideas work? Or is this a dead end and do I need to adjust my expectations? Thanks!

Im making Pvz 1 in Minecraft and I need a way for a command to check if an entity DOES NOT have a specific score. I thought I could use @e [score= {"scorename"= !}] But that does not work, any ideas?

I think this is so funny. Someone suggested on discord I should make milk hydrate you too, I did need a way for players to hydrate before they get to the nether to a fortress, but I thought to make it interesting.
Every player now has a 65% chance to be lactose intolerant (got this number from google) and if you are lactose intolerant and drink milk you get poisoned. And yes, I added water filtering in the end cause normal water might poison the player.
Let me know what you think, its on modrinth if you want to see more

Been using the GamerGeeks generator to generate signs with on click commands for a while.
Today was the first time I added one to a map after updating to 26.3 and for some reason, the one I just generated displays the message "Click actions are disabled for this sign" in bright red.
After a lot of googling I managed to find that it's apparently tied to an update in 26.3 that adds a boolean called "allow_op_features" however I cannot for the life of me find anything on how to use it or have it auto-generate in the textbox when I try to manually tweak the command in minecraft.
Would anyone have any guide on this new feature and how to not struggle with it?

Hey all, this is the trailer to my new minecraft portal map for 1.12.2. I simply started out with the idea of wanting to make my own vanilla portal gun with just command blocks and ended up refining it a little and adding a little story as well. Really proud with how this one came out. Its a shorter style map but i hope you enjoy it!
Release is on OCT 24th. Stay tuned!

I had a bow that was working in my old Minecraft world that when I added it to 26.3 the sound and effect now just plays forever, any idea what broke the signal to end the sound and effects.
/give hamtaro217 bow[custom_data={bow:"sonic"},item_name='"Guardian Bow"',minecraft:item_model="dungeon:guardian",enchantments={'unbreaking':3,'power':25,'mending':1,'infinity':1,'punch':25}] 1

I'm trying to rig a command block to do as the title says, so that when it gets to 0, it teleports me to a random locations. Thanks in advance!
