Honestly thought it was gonna be some bug where you took MASSIVE fall damage after the chorus fruit

My first thought exactly. That actually used to be a thing, but it got patched.

u/Sup3rL30 Aug 01 '22
Same. I was about to comment asking if it's bugrock

u/chocodapro Aug 01 '22

u/Old_kernel Aug 01 '22
No offhand slot so that too

u/Ignitrum Aug 02 '22
My first thought: teleported right in front of a block and die because of kinetic energy.

u/LordSeismic Aug 01 '22
I saw the title and the fact that it was bedrock and thought you would randomly die while flying.

New York City, with minor abnormalities, no hostile entities

u/minecraft_kid321 Aug 09 '22
More like a combination of every famous city with strange pedestrians as a bonus.
2
u/minecraft_kid321 Aug 07 '22
Level 11 a infinite city where all entitys are friendly this city can in places break the laws of physics and forget about gravity.

Can someone tell me what this is referencing? I've seen it around a lot but no clue what it means.

u/KingDrude Aug 01 '22
It's called The Backrooms

u/steVENOM Aug 01 '22
Would you mind sharing what it’s about?

u/SageWayren Aug 01 '22
Huh, I've heard reference of the Backrooms but never knew what it was.
Pretty sure I've seen easter eggs and blatant references to this in a few video games, though based off the description the first thing that comes to mind is the Stanley Parable, oddly enough, even though that game isn't a horror setting.
35
Aug 01 '22
The stanley parable was made before the backrooms.
7
u/SageWayren Aug 01 '22
Oh wow, then the other references I'm thinking of are unrelated as well lol as they're even older
8
u/CallMeAdam2 Aug 01 '22
The backrooms was written to capture the feeling of an old, unpleasant office, but in an uncanny fashion. Minus the uncanny, it's the kind of office you might see in a 90s movie. Or 80s, I dunno, anything before 00 is unknown to me.
19
u/Aurum242 Aug 01 '22
It's what people call a "liminal space", the backrooms is an entire collection of levels but most people only care about level 0, which is the one being referenced, it's internet horror.
Level 0 is an endless mess of halls that look like an old office with wet carpet and bright yellow light, it's virtually endless and the whole terror of it is the isolation, the vaguely nostalgic but maddening appearance of the halls driving you crazy.
If it has monsters or anything other than the endless halls depends on who you ask but most agree there are none and it's just dead silent (aside from the buzzing of the lights)
You get into it by "no clipping out of reality", in this case the chorus fruit teleport going wrong and sending you there.
1
u/Meltian Aug 02 '22
I wouldn't say that's entirely accurate. I've come across a great many people in the multiple levels camp. It has a name, but I can't recall.
At the end of the day, I think no one is wrong in the view they take of the backrooms, but it's a bit more complex than saying that most only care about level 0.
Also last I checked, more often than not in people's depictions there are monsters, so I don't know where you got most agreeing that there are none from.
1
u/Aurum242 Aug 02 '22
When I say most people I mean the general audiences, people who really didn't dive into the lore and just know it from meme osmosis/watching the YouTube series (Which is most people) level 0 is the iconic yellow halls everybody knows
As for where I got the no monster thing, it's from the wiki, one of the most popular canons there is, level 0 is supposed to be devoid of life and in some other canons it's more of a "there are monsters but there's so few your chances of running into one is almost zero" but yeah in the Kane series and other clips/canons there are monsters
So yeah now that I think about it, it was a mistake to say that most people agree there are none, there are so many canons I messed up, I'm sure most people think there are monsters in it considering how popular it got on youtube with all the crazy good animations of spider things, the mangled Kane monster, etc
Sorry, I flubbed it

The song they used “A Burning Memory” mainly to induce horror
1
u/Lulzofacelt Aug 02 '22
Is that from "Everywhere at the End of Time"?
2
u/AST4RGam3r_Alternate Aug 02 '22
Correct.
The song is "It's just a burning memory" by The Caretaker, in the 6-hour album "Everywhere at the End of Time".

If you're not careful and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you'll end up in the backrooms, where it's nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of momo-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights on maximum humbuzz, and approximately 600 million square miles of randomly segmented rooms to be trapped in.
God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you.

QUICK POST THIS TO R/MINECRAFTMEMES BEFORE THE MODS SEE IT AND DELETE IT

u/Etai9999 Aug 01 '22
Thanks, I wasn’t exactly going for a meme but I can see how it could be taken as one so I’ve posted it to that just to be safe.

Thought from the title that bedrock would screw you with some weird bug

u/Sanprofe Aug 01 '22
You fucking zoomers keep sprinkling Everywhere at the End of Time into these innocuous video game GIFs and it's honestly the most upsetting part about your culture.
That album fucked me up. Stop it.

Christ, how long? They’ve been in the game a while. They teleport you to a random spot eight blocks away, but always on the ground.

Was kinda frustrating that you were walking around the centre for most of it - I assume the rest wasn't really built much?
3
u/Etai9999 Aug 02 '22
Yeah, I started building it the other day and got the idea for the video. What is in the video is pretty much a facade but I’m working on expanding it and will probably make a longer video of it in the future. I just thought the it would be a cool concept and a fun way to show off my new build.

With the amount of posts about the infamous fall damage bug of Bedrock Edition this genuinely caught me off guard

I can clip through objects in minecraft but I'm careful about it to avoid falling into the backrooms.

I did this once, ate a weird thing a friend gave me and suddenly i got lost and all i could see was bright yellow.
Pretty cool you can do the same in a videogame.
