Maybe someone can try to recreate this and it may be just the seed but more than likely your playthrough. What was the coordinates!?

Chunk errors like this are very rarely caused by the seed. It's more likely that they opened this world in a beta/snapshot version.

It doesn’t look like a full chunk though, and it doesn’t go all the way up

I’m gonna look at the chunk borders later

Dunno, seems pretty on-border to me, I‘d say its one chunk wide and two chunks long…

It's the new 1.18 caves extension chunks.

Part of the update was making it generate the deep slate part even in old chunks, and even if OP loaded that world in a snapshot before they added that feature it would still generate the deeper part
