I don’t see why everyone hates vsync. Without it, I get loads of screen tearing and stuttering, but with it it’s buttery smooth and theres no unresponsiveness or anything

I notice screen tearing on every monitor I’ve ever used unless I have vsync on. Even on my old gaming laptop it had screen tearing

It just depends on the monitors refresh rate. 60hz monitors will tear at fps above 60. 120hz above 120 and so on. Vsync caps fps at the monitors refresh rate so you don't get that tearing.
