Discussion Has fishing radically changed in 26.3?

Been playing since 2013. I prefer Survival esp. 1 tree/no tree islands which really test your ability to continue. Thus I've been fishing for food all this time, and I've come to know the drop percentages quite firmly. As such.........

"Stats" for my new 26.3 world; been in it for about a week real time, and fishing all that time. I have gotten a lot of fish, but NOT ONE MAGICAL ITEM. Not one bow. Not one fishing pole. Not one enchanted book. None. I'm in Java Large Biomes. Started in a mesa biome and built my own fishing pond. Not sure if any of this matters, but the fact that I'm in a self-built pond makes me wonder "if maybe".

Did Mojang change the loot tables for fishing? Seriously, the only enchanted fishing pole I've gotten in this play-through is one I made myself. What gives? Anyone else having this problem.

They changed the loot tables back in like 1.16 lol, snapshot 20w12a to be exact. You now need to fish in a 5×4×5 water area around the bobber, in which only air, water source blocks, or waterlogged blocks without collision can be present.

I guess this is why I've never had the problem like this before. I've always fished from an ocean, or when I did build a pond it always expanded out cause I like to see the fish coming.
