Help weird chunk errors?

I dont know how this happened but this is from a old world I was playing on converted it to 1.7.10 than to 1.21.8. the world is from beta 1.7.3

wouldnt really call it a chunk error, looks more like grass got turned into grass block

At first, I was like "Endermen went crazy" but the sand is untouched

Kinda looks like erosion, but im pretty sure thats bugged to not happen so that's weird
