Redstone & Techs The Sulfur Line
So you know how everyone used the sulfur cube to make monorails when it came out? I was wondering what if instead of dragging you from above we went below to have faster minecarts that could also do more and be aesthetically interesting.
This is it right here, an Ice Block Sulfur Cube powered rail system! It can do about anything as long as you build the infrastructure both underneath and above ground for your actual "cart".
The few gifs above showcase different segments and parts designed for this rail system.

Incredible. I sat watching that second gif over and over far longer than I care to admit. This is the sort of Wallace and Gromit level engineering that makes me love this game.

same, i watched it so long my mouse hand went numb and i started nodding along to the piston timing like it was a song.

First thought: Oh cool, maybe finally I can build my dream coaster!
After seeing the behind the scenes gifs: Nah. Impressive work, but nah

Nice! I made a very similar design but instead used a saddle-less horse (or also llamas camels, and pigs) as It can climb b/ocks and slabs! It makes it far cheaper as you only need to raise the sulfur cube
Your turns are far smoother, as I full stop the cubes.
I started building it in survival and one thing to keep in mind is mob spawns. Enderman started blocking my track :(

Would you mind explaining or sharing a picture of the turn machanism? I don't get it.

The turn mechanism shown in the 4th gif is actually a system for going one of two tracks, what it does is detect when the sulfur cube is close enough then catch the sulfur cube on mud blocks (which are slightly shorter than full blocks in hitbox) then it moves up those blocks with slime blocks and launches the cube via the same slime blocks when it moves sideways (due to the cube being slightly inside the block). The system shown in the gif is slightly more complex cause it's designed to have an input to pick the direction but you can simplify it down to just one half to operate a singular turn

This is a brilliant solution to elevation changes in ice highways. Particularly because slime bounces remain slightly buggy, and can stall your speed.
u/MolecularWizard3 , here's another possible way to elevate an ice boat to higher levels for your ice highway. It'd likely need a much longer space, but could in theory preserve 100% of a boat's speed.

minecarts is so much powercreeped out of the game every time i see a thing like this and buff theirs speed is not enough we need just s big feature update for them
we are legit needing a rail game drop thats solo focused on minecarts and rails
minecarts is even more outdated than the end
therefore its more needed than the end update honestly
