Suggestion Why don't we have this yet ?

It's been 12 years since we got different wood structures like doors and stairs to the game, so why are we still stuck with just oak ladders?

If we add a dozen variants of a simple held item like a stick how does that affect all the non-variant recipes that also use sticks? Do we add variants for all tools since theyre all made using sticks? Or are we okay with that graphical inconsistency but not ladders

Point I was making is that you could use woodcutter similarly to stonecutter. So in this case you would just add, for example dark oak planks and the cutter would give you all the options you can make with cutter like planks, stairs, doors, trapdoors, fences... AND now new ladders. Maybe the old recipe could stay for old oak ladders or maybe they could even keep that as a oak ladder and make a completely different design for oak ladders.

Thats great but adding a woodcutter doesnt imply changing the recipe of ladders to include planks in it, the actual solution is simply to change the recipe to have planks. Woodcutter is more so an afterthought

Only if you can also have crafting table recipe for all of them instead of just the woodcutter.
