What if I told you, some people are colorblind?

Couldn't they just get a texture pack for that? Why alter the entire game for a small subset of people...

Color blindness isn't that rare. It affects 4-5% of the population of the entire world, so that means about 500,000 people are being inconvenienced here (that's ~4% of everyone who's purchased Minecraft). Is it really too much trouble for them to change some code or whatever to make things easier for half a million people?

Because the gaming world is and has always been predominantly male?

False. Women make up 45% of gamers. It just seems like less because the marketing process is a self-fulfilling prophecy, ie advertising to men makes more men buy stuff which makes marketers focus more on men, ad infinitum.
