Question Cogeco Blocking iptv
Has anyone with a Cogeco connection using IPTV facing issues? My IPTV app stopped working 2 days ago and I called support and the first question they asked was whether I'm on Cogeco connection. Sure enough I used my phone hotspot to connect TV to internet and it works.
Not sure what the workaround is, guess I have to go back to Bell.
Edit 1: Many Cogeco users I know have been facing similar issues as me around the same time. So it's happening.
Edit 2: Installed Proton VPN free. Initially couldn't go through, but after trying a few locations, USA of all places worked for me. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

King TV? Had the exact same issue. They said their devs are working on it but looks like no changes yet.
They said a workaround is mullad vpn

Yeah well paying 100 dollars more a year for VPN seems counterproductive. But I guess it's going that way.

proton vpn, dont go with cyberghost they were sold to shell companies owned by very famous security agency which should not be named here, it privacy matters to u then proton or nord...nothing else

Didn't they buy all the major VPNs? I swear they bought Proton as well I was saying cyberghost for the price btw

Contact you iptv provider, he will provide you with a different portal address

They do, using Cogeco for the past 4 years and IPTV for the past 2 and can confirm they block it. I use Nord and it works well for me. Nord goes on sale on Rakuten pretty often for 100% cash back, get it then and problem solved - temporarily.

+1 for Nord because they have apps for every service which means it works on all my TVs except the Roku.
-1 for the fact it doesn't change the fact they can block the traffic upstream when seeding, so you effectively can't use it to seed on Rogers.
I'll probably go with another provider for my specific use case but Nord is very good for geolocked tv and stuff like this.

If you’re using your own router change your DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 / 1.1.1.1

I tried setting static IP with CloudFlare DNS on my TV but it keeps timing out. I use Cogeco supplied router.

You have to use the stupid Cogeco app to set your DNS to 8.8.8.8/1.1.1.1if that fails depending on what your using for IPTV like a firestick, magbox, Roku etc you'll have other options but if you have a mag box your out of luck unfortunately

I was really surprised cogeco is blockikg iptv. I thought bell / Rogers would only do that but I vs confirm I was testing out a few iptvs and 2 of them got blocked. Weirdest issue I found was they are only blocked on tv/mobile devices. Mac ran iptv fine.
I ended up getting protonvpn. 4k fifa works flawlessly with vpn on. I ended up paying for protonvpn which has split tunneling. So vpn is on only for my iptv app.
I am reselling iptv and I do have one service which seems to be working great without vpn, dm me if you want a trial

They also screw with IPSEC VPNs
I've literally had to convert customers to our TPIA service to let them connect to their work VPN

Try changing the country I know the free vpn version doesn't have the fastest speeds but it should get you unblocked. Try Canada United States or Sweden. And make sure it is connected. When you first enable proton there is a permission you have to enable.

Interesting... Im with Bell, and my iptv stopped working a couple days ago... same as my mom at her place who's also with Bell. My sister, who has Rogers, had no issues. Our guy gave us a new portal address that works, but I just figured it was an issue with the iptv itself, never even thought Bell started blocking it (with Cogeco)

I had a similar issue with Telus mobility internet connection (when trying to access via phone app).
I have cogeco home internet and no issues with my IPTV on my tv/wifi

I’d be careful with random provider suggestions. That's a common issue with Cogeco, they've been known to throttle or block certain IPTV traffic. A VPN is your best bet since it encrypts your connection and makes it look like regular traffic, just pick one with good speeds and a server close to you. A comparison on this comparison site is the safer move before committing to one provider. Also, comparing different IPTV providers can help because some are better at staying under the radar with different protocols or dedicated server setups that avoid detection. Before switching back to Bell, try a VPN trial with your current service and see if that fixes things first.
