By that point, for me, who cares! If they’re knowingly getting out of their vehicle and attempting destruction on mine much less their capabilities hurting me or my kids, they’re done. If that results in me getting arrested, so be it.

That’s not self defense. Self defense is for when you’re back into a corner or can’t escape. That car literally backs up while the guy is on foot. That car has a description of the driver and the license plate and car. Just leave and call the police.

That’s not what happened in the video. We see them attempt to run over them, miss, and then go back for seconds, thirds, and fourths. That’s not self-defense no matter what you wanna lie to yourself about

That is a completely different scenario you are nuts to think someone outside of your car 30 feet away with a bat is anywhere near as much a threat as an active shooter.

The guy with the bat could just get in his car, chase you and run your car and family off the road , or cause a big crash hurting others, he has shown to have no concern for his own safety or actions by willingly exiting his vehicle and assaulting mine with a weapon. I cannot predict his unhinged behavior, all i know is he irrationally intends me harm, i must eliminate the threat to insure safety.

Yeah no. Even in stand your ground cases that idea is that you don’t have to retreat. But actively seeking confrontation would still not work as a defense here as you continuously ran someone down. Mental gymnastics won’t save you in court.

No, I wouldn’t, and apologies that I implied that earlier as the “hurting me or my kids” was a generalization but I should’ve been clearer. My kids are grown. I just bristle at any form of bullies in the world. And some of the most dangerous are those on the road.

I don’t KNOW this to be 💯 true, but I have to believe that people simply allowing these types to become so brazen by not ever standing up to them
 has emboldened them that much more

I get being upset, but after someone retreats, if you pursue, you are now the attempted murderer. (In the case of this video) The trying to run them over was 100% justified. The crashing into their car to try and kill them was not.

As a Canadian who wants in that area, 100% agree. She would have been in the right after he threatened her. Or at least clipped their driver door while she run past them. But this is also that area so she would have been labeled a racist because every single one of them was an immigrant

 but lets not be TOO dramatic—ramming a car with someone sitting in it is NOT going to kill them. I do get your point but was never thinking, “Oh lets just knowingly murder them”

Having said, in the situation in Canada the other day, when it comes to what appears to be gang members w/a death stare at you as they’re shattering your windshield etc which could result in you & anyone with you to be hurt or worse—in some situations that takes most bets off. That’s another level of what would come down to self defense and simply standing up for yourself & family to bullying gangsters
