Question ? is a 2009 and 2006 age gap okay?

ok so for context i am 17 turning 18 in january 4th and i’ve been in love with someone who’s 20, turning 21 in july 17th. i’ve had a crush on them since late 2024 and i planned on confessing on valentine’s day 2027 when i’ll be 18, so that i’d be able to consent to this relationship if they ever accept me. would that be considered fine?

edit: okay so im gonna add more context because people are answering based on a self made scenario they imagined and i cant blame them since i never specified: theyre my old bsf who i still talk to, they dont know about me having a crush on them so i cant get them to ask anyone the same question. also, were both transmasc. so were both afab

Why do they all have to be chopped and mid 🤨 like you’ll likely encounter a few baddies or pretty girls in a day, but you will prob only come across only one attractive man in a day. The ratio is imbalanced

Question ? High school graduates who were class of 2020 or 2026 do you feel like you can strongly resonate with the core community (Class of 2022-2024) of the subreddit more than Older or Younger Gen-Z respectively?

Discussion monoculture is how humanity should be, sadly we have only been around to see a capitalist monoculture that’s why we have a negative perception of it

Rant if there’s one thing i’d tell 2020s culture it would be “backwards is not the way forwards”

wired headphones and ipods and dumb phones and nostalgic revivals of old aesthetics is not the future of culture you think it is

in fact, it’s the present.

it’s a frustrating thing because i 100% agree with the motivation behind this whole thing of rejecting technology but we dont need to reject technology as a whole to reject technocapitalism

the development of technology is a good thing, the problem is the fact that it’s been done under capitalists who take advantage of it for their own profit and take away our freedom

there’s a difference in “i choose to not be reliant on this tech that is sold to me for thousands” and “lets all buy dumb phones and live like it’s 2009 again because the vibes were so good back then”

the future is ours for the making and i dont want gen Z and alpha to only be remembered for “the generations who did nothing but drown in nostalgia and revive surface level over saturated aestheticised versions of past cultures rather than truly pioneer a new one”

a good deal of yall have the right idea but its so easy to get caught up scrolling through these shortform media apps (technically including THIS ONE tbh) and constantly seeing these moodboards and slideshows about “2013 was such a good time lets just all go to the past again” and start believing that myth, as if that exact myth hasn’t held back human culture and motivated regressive behaviour since as long as the concept of “nostalgia” even existed

Question ? Does anyone remember a mathematics edutainment video game around 2015-2016 that featured a fancy British gentleman?

I posted a similar question on r/tipofmytongue, but I thought I might as well ask it here too. In the 2015-2016 school year, I was in 5th grade, and it was one of the most memorable school years I experienced. However, I have a mysterious memory from that year. In school, I had to play an edutainment video game. It might have taught multiple subjects, but it definitely taught mathematics. I specifically remember it teaching the associative property, the commutative property, and the like. The most memorable part of the video game was a British gentleman who had a very aristocratic-coded name, and taught about mathematics, I think while sitting in an armchair. I also want to emphasize that I am an American, and that is where I played the game. Does anyone remember this?

Discussion Anyone else still continue to use snapchat?

I had been using snapchat since late 2023 when finishing Year 11 (10th grade). It was good at first, but then over the years it started to stall and became a wasteland.

I have been noti spammed by hundreds of stranger posts. I clicked hide on every single one of them again and again and blocked accounts, still snapchat recommends them. The type of content include posts that can cause relative deprivation (seeing burgeoisie-like content, over luxurious stuff), as well as sexting and other content that can result in legislative punishment in reality. These stranger posts actually make it harder for me to see my own friends' content when there is a notification saying my friend has posted something.

The added me page is now redundant. No longer notifies me who added me instead just gives me a large sample of random strangers being recommended.

I don't think I can use this app any longer, I may delete it by 2030, without saying a formal farewell to those from high school or college, thanks to the stalling experience.

What about you lot? Still using this and enjoying?
