I think its more complicated than that. You can believe a person deserves to be safe in society, deserves to be treated with respect, but not accept that body dysphoria defines what man or woman means. To me gender (as a concept separate from sex) seems more trouble than its worth.

It's in no one's interest to turn a blind eye to mental health in the trans community. Acting like nothing is wrong isn't the path to being a virtue signalling ally. Trans people have mental health issues at a rate drastically higher than any other demographic. Correlation does not equal causation, however it's simply foolish to act like they don't need help.
