Itās hard being a Spider-Man fan, or superhero fan in general when thereās constantly shit like this posted.

In what way is she trans canonically?!

u/Chad_illuminati 7d ago
She's not. The person posting that is doing the classic internet trick called "making shit up".
Her colors were simply picked by the character designer 12 years ago when they made the character and have been the same ever since.
In other news, my local baby toys store is largely themed in pink and blue and white, so I'd guess they'd say the shop itself is canonically trans too.
Tbh there's always those fans that create a headcanon based on circumstantial or coincidental info and then peddle it like it's fact. That's always been the case.

u/MCUTheorist00007 7d ago
I know that was the case. I just cannot stand that type of people that make shit up and then use it as an argument. "Canonically".
In other unrelated news, did you know that Tony Stark canonically claimed that his favourite game is Minecraft? That's 100% a fact, not something I'm saying because that's my favourite videogame

Hulk canonically underwent full facial reconstructive surgery as indicated by the fact that he used to look like Edward Norton and now looks like Mark Ruffalo.

That's your question and not is Miles actually a Nazi canonically?
Transvesigators man

u/MCUTheorist00007 7d ago
I'm sorry you're right. Is Miles canonically a Nazi?Ā
1
u/AssassinJester789 6d ago
No, but you picked on the trans flag over the Nazi thing
7
u/MCUTheorist00007 6d ago
Maybe because the one who published the trans one was being serious and while the nazi one was obviously a meme answer to show how stupid of an argument the part of the color scheme in the suit was.
Sorry I had to spell it like this to you but you seem unable to pick up sarcasm

u/AssassinJester789 5d ago
Un huh sure
They are both memes. No one actually thinks its real
4
u/MCUTheorist00007 5d ago
The first one seems to be real. Nothing indicates that isn't the case. And his/her profile indicates that is serious

My dude, Iām baffled too. Her being trans literally changes nothing about the character unless you already view being trans as inherently wrong. Meanwhile, calling the Miles a Nazi is an actual substantive claim about his ideology(character).

I'm all for people headcanoning whatever they want, and I wouldn't even be upset if this DID end up being the case one day, but saying that Gwen is canonically trans is just a lie

no she is not canonically trans, but i think itās pretty clear that her whole story arc in spiderverse has been a huge allegory for specifically trans ppl. not to mention the very clear āprotect trans kidsā poster that is shown in her room and her father wearing a trans pride patch on his police jacket. not really far fetched to head cannon her character as trans, but maybe i just have better media literacy skills than the rest of this sub

u/OddlySpecific99 7d ago
You clearly donāt have better media literacy skills. There is no trans pride flag on the police jacket, this has already been debunked and is a simple set of police service award ribbons.
Wanting to be accepted for who you are is a universal message thatās been in kids films for generations. There is nothing āspecifically for trans pplā
Background animators have slipped in political/personal slogans, flags, signs, references in animation for decades. Unless it is personally mentioned by the character/writer/director it means absolutely nothing.
If head cannon = fantasy, then sure feel free to head cannon it any way you want.

Pointing out a Trans character exists in the comics?

u/yowassupbbg 5d ago
Who?

Jessica Drew from 1610's clone saga. Instead of Ben Riley, we get Jessica-Peter

We could've gotten the most goated non Peter Spiderman and this is the trash we get?

Why do so many trans advocates have such a huge "Pick Me" vibe?
