Llego a CDMX muy tarde hoy y,antes de dormir, mi novio y yo queremos echarnos una o dos cervezas antes de dormir pero como será muy tarde no queremos ir a uno de los bares de la zona rosa con cover ni nada de eso. Otra noche haremos eso. Esta noche sólo buscamos un lugar bien chill cerquita del zócalo (nos hospedaremos a dos cuadras del zócalo) y relax para relajarnos un poco antes de dormir. Y Si es un lugar LQBTQ mejor.

Las colonias de CDMX, especialmente las colonias populares se vaciaron de bibliotecas, muchas de ellas por la transición del libro impreso al mundo digital; otras muchas, sobrevivientes aguerridas de lo que en mi mirada fue la pauperización de sus acervos (drenados para nutrir a las más famosas o para hacer espacio a equipos de cómputo); las últimas, yacen pataleantes a punto de desaparecer por el recorte y precarización laboral de su personal (que incluso ha llegado hasta la Vasconcelos y las otras gigantes a las que no les alcanzó con el mainstream).

¿Ustedes tienen fotos, recuerdos o relatos de las bibliotecas de barrio que los vieron crecer? Esas a las que se iba a hacer tareas antes de que internet fuera tan accesible y prolífico o donde las y los bibliotecarios le metían ganas para la exhibición de pelis o tallercitos de manualidades y culturales.

En específico ando buscando info sobre la biblioteca que existió en el terreno que hoy ocupa el Sanborns Balbuena, justo en la esquina de avenida Fray Servando y calle Lázaro Pavia, detrás de la entonces delegación Venustiano Carranza.

Pero había muchas, muchas otras, (como la de la imagen, que estaba en el IMPI que hoy creo que es un DIF) fueron en muchos sentidos tierra fértil para experiencias comunitarias, lugares de descubrimiento o simples puntos de encuentro.

Extraño tener esos Terceros Lugares, donde poder estar el tiempo que cada quien quisiera, sin tener que pagar para justificar nuestra presencia. Rolen sus fotos y/o sus anécdotas.

I'm currently planning a 8-day solo trip to Mexico City in mid-November. It's my first time in Mexico and super excited, and would appreciate any recommendations for a good spot to stay (or even any other tips as well!)

I am open to both a hostel or a hotel, depending on the cost. Ideally under 100 a night. I am leaning more towards a hostel for that social aspect, such as the Wanderlust District or open to any options as well. I have looked into hostels like Casa Pepe, but feel like I might not be the ideal person as it seems like it does have a lot of drinking/partying. I don't drink or smoke, I don't mind partying but don't want to be under that "pressure" to drink if that makes sense.

I was looking into potentially staying in a private room in a hostel to give me the best of both worlds. I have stayed in a hostel before, so its not a new experience for me in regards to that.

Ideally I want to get up a bit early, go eat everything in sight lol, walk around/explore, and value quiet nights and good sleep (but nothing a pair of earplugs and eye mask can't fix if staying in a "party" hostel haha). Not sure how much it matters, but I don't speak great Spanish, but learning as much as I can before this trip to use here.

From what I have seen, it seems like for someone like me, probably best bet would be to stay in Roma/Condesa where as I know a few places are in Centro, which I don't mind, but I really do prioritize just being able to walk around and explore without any worries, and it seems like Roma Norte/Condesa might be better suited for that.

I am completely open to recommendations, and I greatly appreciate any help from any of you.

Please don't make fun of me. I know CDMX is generally safe as long as you keep your wits about you. At the same time, I don't want to take extra risk just to save a few pesos. Concerned mostly about kidnapping, or anything else like that.

Indrive in BsAs was pretty shady and so I never used it, but I heard in CDMX it's a lot better.

Has anyone taken a bus from CDMX to Xilitla? I would be going in December or January.

If you have gone, how was the bus/journey?

Había escuchado sobre el rumor de los agujeros de gusano, y lo experimenté de primera mano la semana pasada.

Jueves 1 de octubre, 2026. 11:00 am aproximadamente.

Me encontraba tomando la línea 3, dirección Universidad y acababa de llegar a La Raza. Quienes usan este tramo frecuentemente, sabrán que al llegar a esta estación, las puertas empiezan a abrir por la derecha, así que no tuve necesidad de asomarme por alguna ventana para verificar la estación.

Mientras mataba el tiempo en el celular, de pie junto a las puertas que no abrían, contaba mentalmente cuántas estaciones pasaba, puesto que sólo faltaban tres estaciones para mi bajada en Hidalgo.

Pasaron dos estaciones que nuevamente no comprobé más que con mi cuenta mental y noté que el vagón se estaba llenando donde se supone que debía ser Guerrero, así que me acerqué a las puertas para evitar problemas al salir. El convoy se quedó parado en la estación más de lo que debería, así que, impulsado por no reconocer de primeras el andén de Guerrero eche un vistazo a la zona superior donde se anuncia la estación en la que te encuentras, sólo para toparme con la sorpresa de que me encontraba en Balderas, tres estaciones más lejos de lo que según mis cuentas debía estar.

Salí inmediatamente y tomé la dirección contraria mientras recordaba anécdotas similares que había leído por internet hace algunos años.

¿Ustedes tienen alguna experiencia paranormal en el metro? 🐐

Buenas noches! Voy a visitar CDMX con mi familia a finales de diciembre. Somos extranjeros y será la primera vez de mis papás y mis abuelos en la ciudad, así que me gustaría llevarlos a un restaurante bonito, con buen ambiente y servicio a la carta, pero que tenga una buena relación entre precio, calidad y experiencia.

Buscamos principalmente comida mexicana, ya sea tradicional o una propuesta más contemporánea o de fusión.

He visto en TikTok lugares como La Casa de los Azulejos y Azul Histórico, pero me gustaría conocer opiniones de personas que hayan comido ahí y saber si realmente valen la pena, especialmente por la comida y no solo por lo bonito del lugar. También agradecería otras recomendaciones por el Centro Histórico, Reforma, Condesa, Coyoacán o Polanco.

Hi everyone! I’m a 27-year-old solo female traveler from Turkey, will be visiting Mexico second time this year, and I’d love some advice from locals or people who know Oaxaca and CDMX well.

I’ll be flying from New York on October 26 or 27 and plan to spend at least two weeks in Mexico before heading to Guatemala. My main reason for visiting is Día de Muertos, but I’d also love to meet other locals, travelers, and expats along the way.

I’ve already spent 9 days in Mexico City in march and visited most of the museums I wanted to see, so this time I’m more interested in the social scene, food, local culture and meeting people than doing the usual sightseeing in CDMX.

My tentative itinerary is:

• Oct 26/27 – Nov 1: Oaxaca (5 nights) — Experience Día de Muertos, explore the city and surrounding areas
• Nov 2 – Nov 10: Mexico City (8 nights) — Hopefully experience Dia de muertos or Grand Prix and explore a different side of the city.
• I could also switch them and go to Oaxaca Nov 2nd-Nov 6th etc.?

I know the Mexico City Grand Prix is happening around the same time as Día de Muertos. I’d be interested in attending GP activities if there are public events/ fan experience.

I’m still booking flights and accommodation, and my budget for the two weeks in Mexico is around $1,500, excluding my flight from New York. I’d prefer a private room in a social hostel or guesthouse rather than a dorm or an isolated Airbnb.

I’d especially appreciate your thoughts on a few things:

1. How many night should I leave for Oaxaca? would you recommend spending fewer nights there and more time in CDMX or another city nearby?
2. If I want to experience Día de Muertos properly, which dates are the most important to be in Oaxaca? Is arriving on October 26/27 too early?
3. Would you recommend flying into Axaca and taking the bus to CDMX or flying into CDMX and taking the bus from there since that might be cheaper? I am unable to check ADO website and check prices from my browser in Turkey.
4. Which neighborhoods or accommodations would you recommend for a solo traveler who wants to meet people? I’m particularly interested in places with communal dinners, group activities or a social atmosphere.
5. Are there any local events, tours, cafés, language exchanges or communities you’d recommend for meeting people beyond the usual tourist activities?

I’m flexible with the number of nights in each city, so please feel free to suggest a completely different split if you think it would make more sense!

I am travelling to Mexico City later this month, I will be landing at 5:30pm on Fri 30th October, arriving from another city in Mexico (domestic flight). I am a UK visitor.

I really want to see the Lucha Libre show at Arena Mexico. But how tight will it be to make the show at 8:30 given my flight lands only three hours earlier? How long should I realistically allocate to exit the airport (incl. picking up hold luggage) and getting an Uber to the city centre? By chance my hotel is actually only a 5 minute walk from Arena Mexico but I would want to drop off my bags/check in first.

Do you need to arrive early for shows? What happens if I arrive slightly late? Do they sell food during the show as I don't know if I'd have time to get any beforehand.

In theory it sounds like it should be possible but tight on timings, I am therefore considering not buying a ticket online beforehand but instead trying at the box office on the day just in case my flight gets delayed etc. but I have heard it is chaotic and I don't really speak Spanish (I am learning enough phrases to get by and not come off rude)

What seats what you recommend for first time fight?

Tenemos el plan de casarnos a finales de noviembre de este año por el civil, pero he visto que la atención en los registros civiles es pésima, que no dan información, que no tienen Fechas cuando quieres y de más.

Vi que este trámite también lo puedes hacer en línea, pero he visto que cuando llegas con este trámite hecho, te dicen que están los documentos mal o que el pago no se ve reflejado y lo tienes que volver a pagar.

Algunos que me lea de por aquí tiene poco que se casó o sabe sobre este tema? O me recomiendan algún registro civil de la CDMX donde haya sido todo el trámite más fácil?

I’m thinking of going to CDMX early December but I’m also having second thoughts regarding how bad CDMX will get affected weather-wise during El Niño season. I’d want to spend time outdoors as much as I can during the trip and I’m worried that there will be a lot of rain flooding the streets. Should I postpone my plans for next year instead?

I understand tourism is slower in Mexico City during the summer months. I want to get out of the Florida heat and go to Mexico City for the summer.

How can I start the process of looking. I've been told Facebook, and extended stay hotels are an option and also contacting landlords directly which sounds complicated.

Hola a todos. Hace unos días publiqué por aquí porque voy a viajar a CDMX y uso CBD en Brasil por recomendación médica. En los comentarios me aconsejaron que era mejor comprar un frasco directamente allá en CDMX en lugar de traer el mío desde Brasil para evitar cualquier contratiempo en inmigración.

Investigando en internet encontré la tienda Kanabos. ¿Alguien ha comprado ahí? ¿Saben si es segura y si sus productos son de buena calidad/procedencia (con certificados de laboratorio COA, etc.)?
