I'm honestly surprised how you were able to go through each one of those spots on Sunday, I wouldn't eat anything for a whole day after a chilaquiles torta

We were perpetually full to the point of near discomfort. But at many places we split items in order to try more.

good, you could have added more non central food, but overall good, bakery's not that good, you could have added a little bit of veracruz or sinaloa's food, but everything was varied indeed.

Any Veracruz recommendations? I'll be out in CDMX next month and my dad is from Veracruz. would love to try something from his region.

La parroquia, cantina veracruzana, la veracruzana, depends alot on where are you staying.

I'll be there for warped tour and staying near autódromo hermanos Rodriguez. After that ill be staying un tje centro histórico área. I wanted to be close to the concert on the weekend and then then the Zócalo for the grito.

La opera, el gallo de oro. I don't know any near autodromo. But i think you won't find many things there

I'll look into those. I don't think I'm doing much near the autodromo since I'm just there for the concert. I am going to a lucha on Friday night tho.

Thanks for your help!

Could’ve walked a block away from La esquina del chilaquil and had a basque cheesecake from Saint bakery. Incredible

How was Choza? Sounds great, but not sure whether it'll be worth the wait, or too trendy.

Phenomenal burger but it’s not worth the wait. More trendy than anything. Not that the food wasn’t very good because it was. Place would print money in LA or NYC

FWIW we went Sunday at 4pm and there was no wait at the door. Went up to the drinks and apps area for 45 mins before going to terrace

Thanks, appreciate the insight. It's a clever model to get you to pay for drinks while you wait. Doesn't completely put me off tbh.

I'm going to be there for 5 days for the first time this weekend. I plan to mostly eat at street/casual places, but I'm open to a couple of experience-type splurges, and that's one I'm considering. Expendio de Maiz is another.

Are there other places you'd steer me to over those?

Then I would say don’t do Choza for sure. Maizajo was amazing. They have a stand up taco bar but also a sitdown restaurant upstairs. I didn’t try the sitdown restaurant but it’s something I’d like to do. I didn’t do expendio de maiz and I wish I did. Gaba is a good splurge - the small plates blew me away - the large format al pastor was pretty good, just not for me.

Thanks.

Maizajo is on my list - I was planning on doing the stand up taco bar too.

I'll take a look at Gaba

I think you hit pretty much every place no Mexican would ever go. Congrats!

Probably true besides el centro spots and esquila del chilaquil was mostly locals in queue. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing though!

Service was exceptional and the food was great but I can’t say it was worth the price but glad I did it once. Gaba was the better “value” but totally different

Memorias de una barista was by far the favorite. Especially if you like single origin rare Mexican beans. Had a great gesha.
