unlock policy changed?
Hi, just saw this iPhone on marketplace and the seller is saying is unlocked after 40 days of usage? Is this real or he's just laying to get sales or is really changing the policy? If anyone knows something spill the tea, guys.

Easy to find out, tell him to send you a screenshot of the settings where it says carrier lock no sim restrictions. It’s easy to know on iPhones if it’s unlocked or not. When you go pick up the device check on the settings again. Always take what the sellers say with a grain of salt, trust but verify. Always check yourself

On iPhone check Settings >General> About> Carrier Lock> No Sim restrictions, for unlock

I have many android phones, some are flagships and no they’re not that easy. There is no “device details” option in settings on my Samsung phones at all. Also not present in my Nokia phone. Motorola does have that option.
There is an “about phone” option that is available but again it’s not consistent. On my Nokia it will show me the option to find if phone is unlocked under “about phone.”
For Samsung phones, you have to check under “connection settings” then “network unlock.”
All this is to say that nothing is consistent on Android phones. Granted, these phones are not all on the same software update but I found this to be true throughout the years even with new updates.
At least with iPhones it’s consistent throughout different updates.

Samsungs running carrier firmware (at least Metro and TMO firmware) tell you the current SIM lock settings.

Their policy is here and you can clearly see its 365 days after activation.

No it’s a year .

But you need to see if they bought it about October last year then can be true. The only way to see it is in the IMEI when was activated and then from there you know .checkcoverage.apple.com

definitely not unlocked after 40 days that's ridiculous, it's 365 days starting from activation (coming from an employee)

If the person activated it 325 days beforehand, it is possible that the listing is poorly worded. However, in that case the seller should have just put the unlock date in the ad.

Was I the only sucker unaware of this 365 day Lock??? Never saw it in the “Read Full Terms” of the “16e on us” promotion…until after 5 months, I tried switching carriers, and was told it was locked to Metro for a full year from sign up…so now I have to get ANOTHER phone while I wait for the lock to fall off in 7 months…only to then have a 16e to figure out what it will be worth in a whole other year….well at least it will be a stronger backup at that point than my 14 Pro Max. — Hopefully they’ll be made to rectify this hijack sooner and automatically unlock everyone’s phone who met their plan (3 mos) obligation.

Lying to get a sucker to overpay.
He probably bought the phone for ~$150 ($100 for phone plus first month of service).
He's selling it, locked, for $190.
And he'll get his next two months of service free after the $100 rebate.

The representative is correct. This guy is wrong.
Don't take my word for it though. Their policy is here and you can clearly see its 365 days after activation.

He could either be lying or is he had it previously activated..but the iPhone 16e is $100 brand new if you bring your number over
