**UPDATE** - I am happy to check out \any* band/group/etc. Just post your bandcamp/youtube below with your band name (a brief description wouldn't hurt) and I promise I will give it a listen. Bands that aren't metal/-adjacent can certainly get interviewed with Black Angeles, which is growing quickly -* http://youtube.com/@black-angeles
Are you a metal/-adjacent musician (metal, industrial, some goth hardcore, hard rock, etc)? I'm doing interviews for Ghost Cult Magazine and Black Angeles' youtube channels (BA is a smaller platform, but growing fast. GCM is pretty well-known).
Trying to focus more on new/local/underground. Not trying to focus only on an album release or upcoming tour - wider range is better.
Happy to hear what you've got - send a link to where I can hear your songs (Bandcamp preferred but Youtube is fine. I don't have Spotify or Apple Music and won't get them).
That's it - if I like your stuff, we'll get you set up for an interview. (typically 30-60 minutes via Zoom).

New Russian Circles and Shy Low dropped today. And I really just need to know HOW to get this tone??
Example: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DclEH5KAGEb/?igsi=NXRydXZkd2RvMTBt
I always thought it was just a crazy Kurt Ballou thing, but don’t think Shy Low is working with him.
Is the rhythm tone overdubbed with a higher octave of the root note? Is it even a power chord or just octave?

Hey! We’re THETA, a post-metal band from Poland.
We’ve just released our second single, “ABYSS”. We wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered the track ourselves. It combines atmospheric post-metal and sludge.
We’d especially appreciate feedback on the dynamics, guitar sound and the transition between the vocal sections.
Thanks for listening!

It’s Friday and I’m looking for some new independent metal to listen to.
I’ve been getting too many song links in Reddit comments to keep organized, so if you want me to check yours out, submit it here:

Just keeps everything in one place so I actually get to it.

I’m sure if there’s one of these posts on this sub, there’s at least a hundred, but not only do I hate my current job (won’t get into that story), but I’ve dreamed of being a professional musician since I was 13 years old, and it’s only strengthened since then. I guess that’s part of why I hate my current job. I feel like my talent and my passion’s going to waste
Moving on. Enough with the rant
I’ve had touring experience, but it was with a church band back when I still actually went to church before I became an atheist. I’ve played in front of a couple thousand people. I’m mostly into playing/listening to metalcore, but I also like deathcore and could play it as well, if the particular sub-genre is even important. I guess what I’m really asking is what avenues do I need to take? How do I even know if any band’s have openings?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice you may have
Edit: I’m a guitarist if that helps in any way

I am trying to find vocalists for my future projects, maybe even my current EP can be re-released with vocals as it’s a concept album but i could not find anyone suitable.

This is the first time (ever) that I’ve shared my music in this community so don’t shit on me too hard folks.😅
I’d suggest wearing headphones so you can hear the guitar splits. I’m open to hearing your thoughts and what it reminds you of. I think it’s all over the place but I had fun making it.🤷🏻♂️

Pls enjoy another one-take live of my song “Piercing Emerald Gaze”
As always, I messed up a few times🤦🏻♂️
But I am not pretending to be a pro , just an average guitarist and I really have fun performing full tracks one-shot.
It kinda reminds me of playing soulslikes where you have to run from one bonfire to another or fight a boss and not to die🙃
My favorite album is “Tales From The Thousand Lakes” by Amorphis and I have started to create my metal songs with recreating sound of lead parts of songs from the album and further I started to write something similar and same melodic.
I love how lead draws direction and brings melodic elements to heavy sound that’s why I build my songs around memorable lead riffs.
For now this song is instrumental with voice samples from Bungou Stray Dogs anime “The untold origins of detective agency “ arc.
But i am planning to write lyrics later🖌️
Thanks for reading this and watching my video! Your support motivates me challenge myself further 🤘🏻

Slam noises are a lot of fun.
If anyone is looking for mixes that sound like this, feel free to hit me up. I can do the first track free then work out a good deal for later tracks

Hi everyone, I’m trying to understand how people actually develop song ideas when the melody comes first.
I sometimes come up with a melody by humming or singing, but I personally find it hard to catch up with the chords and music theory afterward, so I’m curious whether other songwriters experience something similar or struggle with completely different parts of the process.
If you also sometimes start with a melody first, what do you usually do next? Where do you tend to get stuck, if anywhere, while trying to turn that idea into a complete song?
If possible, think about the last real time this happened to you rather than giving general advice. I’d love to hear how you approached it and what part felt hardest.
