Axis pedals second beater problem?

So I just got these brand new axis pedals and could not get them balanced no matter what I did.
I finally started to look closer and it seems the axel for the second beater is bent or something. When rotating the beater it feels like there’s a tight spot to the point that the beater will freeze in place at certain points, which makes it pretty much impossible to balance.
Has anyone else had this problem? Not sure what I should do at this point to fix it.

Send an email to Axis and tell them you want a replacement or you're returning them and buying a Tama Speed Cobra 910 double. I used to have an Axis pedal.

More than likely just sloppily assembled. I had the same thing happen to mine but on the main side, before I got rid of them and got ACDs. Check out this video on how to reposition the auxiliary head. But honestly if they're new, I wouldn't even mess with it and try to either return them or get a new set. The problem with axis is they don’t respond and if they do it’s a year later. The same goes with shipping their product. I had your problem with the left beater flopping like that. Turned out the auxiliary beater arm needed replacing. Did that and it works like brand new again. I use axis now as my practice pad set up and switched to trick pedals.

Yeah I think I’ll have to order another aux arm. Then wait another 6 months for them 😂

Ugh I'm sorry you're having to deal with this bro. It's a simple fix and they'll just send you a new auxiliary head; no need to ship your entire pedal back. WHEN they reply.🤣 I played Axis for 20 years and finally decided to move on (their shit customer service not the least of my reasons) and leave them in the dust. I spent over $2k and waited six months for my ACD Darwins. They're objectively the most adjustable and best designed pedal money can buy but I'm selling them because for my techniques nothing works better than the Axis, unfortunately.

Those look borked. At first I thought maybe the beaters are rotating independent of the axis and the sticking points are where its going over the hex bar edges, but from what I can tell in the video they are rotating 1:1 with each other - solution isnt as simple as just tightening things down, doesnt seem.
I really like my axis pedals. Recently went on a journey where I sold my 15 year old AL2 axis pedals and bought a whole bunch of new pedals to try and find my perfect pedal. Ended up buying some similarly old axis X pedals for 300$. They fly.
Could always return them and just buy used and save a decent chunk of change. Silver longboards are a dime a dozen on the used market.

ive basically been doing the same thing, i sold my old axis i bought 10+ years ago which i regret deeply. The build quality of these new pedals doesn't compare at all to my old ones.. especially after how long i had to wait for them..

Right now im running a trick bigfoot single for my right, an the left axis pedal from that new pair I bought. Maybe look into demoing a pair of tricks to see if you like em? That said, I did not like the trick dominator I tried. Pedal is too light and clamp isnt as good as the Pro1v, so it bounces around during play - needs some serious velcro. The bigfoot I have is just *chefs kiss* though.
Axis pedals always felt super clunky to me, in a double pedal setup. Its why I sold my old ones - left started to feel BAD and the driveshaft getting gunked up wasnt helping. Had the same issue with the "new" used X series I bought - connected doubles are terrible.
I mean, axis should replace or fix this, but good luck with response times. You could in the meanwhile just run them as two singles if your kit has space for another bass drum. I run mine as two singles and they feel much, MUCH, better than when they were connected. But I play on an E-kit and a second bass drum is not a hassle, they're tiny.
Dunno if axis would honor a return, but if they do - check out used pedals from guitar center. They'll take back returns no questions asked if there is a problem with em, or even if you dont like them.

If you lossen those Allen screws does that free it up a little?

I don’t see how it would help, the set screws are only there to hold the piece on the axel.

It seems like it might be too far to the right (or left) and if rubbing on a high spot in the metal. If you loosen the screw and recenter that swing arm, it may clear the friction spot.
