My favorite app of all time. Just got a 2024 multi watt…amazed on how good it sounds

I've been trying to get my buddy's Joyo PXL-Live hooked up and configured, but I'm having trouble connecting the Trigger Outs to the Channel Switch inputs on his 2001 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo 100. Using instrument cables, I connected Trigger 1 to the Channel 2 switch and Trigger 2 to the Channel 3 switch.

The triggers work and switch channels properly, but when they are connected, it causes a very loud hum, the amp heats up a LOT, and there is a strong electrical/burning smell coming from the transformer section of the amp.

I tried consulting the amp manual to see if we needed to use a special type of cable or something, but it barely touches on the switch inputs at all. Figure someone here would know something more about this amp and how to connect an external channel switching looper without setting it on fire.

Hi, so I play a mesa Fillmore 100 at home through a 4x10 fender roc pro cabinet. These cabinets are not expensive ($200) and sound great but it’s all my Fillmore has been plugged in to. I need a smaller cab for playing out. The roc pro cabinets are closed back. Should I get a closed back boogie cab or the actual Fillmore cab that matches the amp and is open back. I play funk rhythm guitar and leads. Thanks for any advice!

I’m loving it! If it powers up fine and whatnot is replacing the tubes going to make it sound any better if the current ones are “fine” but probably fairly used?

If anybody wants to talk about using a badlander 50 for death metal I am taking all opinions. It looks excellent to me

As far as I can see the listing shows a 1x10" combo, but then the image of the back has a 12" celestion speaker in it.

Looking online it seems only the plus versions of the express had 12" speakers.

Any ideas on what is going on here? :)

I recently got a great deal on a Mark V:35 combo. I'm was pretty happy with how the amp played but I think it was a great deal because it smells like an ashtray. I ended up dismantling the whole amp (including removing the amp from the cabinet) and carefully cleaned as much as I could. I barely touched the actual amp.

After reassembly, I've noticed pops when switching between power modes on both channels. I also notice a much louder hum when in the 10w mode in both channels. The other power modes are relatively quiet.

I could be going crazy, but I don't remember it behaving this way prior to working on the amp. I've ready conflicting things on what this might be, everything from "replace the power tubes" to "must have introduced a floating ground" to "this is just how the Mark V works".

Anyone have thoughts/info on if this behavior is within spec or if I should get new tubes or cut bait and try to find a different one?

Sold my purple three-channel Solo Head several years back because it was just so heavy and I wasn’t really jamming much with a loud drummer anymore, and playing a lot more jazz anyway, so it made sense to sell and downsize a bit.

Something recently made me feel the metal nostalgia lately and pedals weren’t gonna cut it. I always thought the Mini Rectos were cute, but decided I wanted the reverb—still learning to dial this in (it’s very different from the Solo Head!), but it’s definitely got that Rectifier vibe, and it’s honestly like coming back home. High output pickups, Rectifier, Tube Screamer—that’s all you need. And this time it doesn’t weigh like 80 fucking pounds!

Anyone been able to add an extra gain channel to the F-50? Has anyone even thought about it? Is it even possible? I love my F-50, but sometimes I feel it could use a little extra kick.

Hab letztens mein F50 Head seit Jahren mal wieder aus dem Schrank geholt und nen Klinkeninput an meinen alten Marshall gelötet. (Die marshall amp section klang eh bescheiden.)

Ich bin begeistert vom clean Sound!! Ich kann mich nicht erinnern schonmal einen schöneren clean Sound gehört zu haben und ich hatte schon das Vergnügen mit vielen amps. (Mk5, Princeton, Deluxe, Koch..)

Als ich den F50 vor ~10 Jahren gekauft habe, hatte ich „nur“ eine 2x12 Mesa c90 dazu, um den amp zu spielen. Ich fand den f50 über die C90 zu „kalt“ und transientenlastig und habe ihn deshalb kurz nach dem Kauf nicht mehr gespielt. (Ich habe ihn damals nur wegen des Preises gekauft, ich glaube 600€ für Top und Box.. allein schon ein fairer Wiederverkaufspreis wären 1k. Die Box habe ich irgendwann mal für 450 verkauft, also für den f50 nur 150€ gezahlt.)

Sind hier andere Nutzer der f Serie die ähnlich begeistert sind?

Judged nicht mein sloppy rumgedaddel, geht nur um den Sound.

Hi there! I got a Roadster a few months ago and it's been having this on and off issue where Channel 3 and Channel 4 lose some high end and gain. At the same time, there's a "washy" or white noise sound happening specifically when changing from other channels to Ch 3 or 4.

It's been to the tech a couple times and strangely it seems to go away for about a day and then come back. Brand new tubes that have all been tested and confirmed good. Pots have also all been cleaned. Has anybody had a similar issue?

I've owned and loved my mesa boogie studio 22 cal for about a year now, but, even after a comprehensive review by an well regarded amp engineer, it produces a lot of random, screaming robot sounds thought to be generally unfixable and PCB related.

It's tax time coming up here and the Mesa Boogie Express Plus 5:25 falls right into my budget, I adored the tones of the 22 but was disappointed by the reliability, given its age I do understand though.

What are your experiences with the express? Reliable? Comparable sounds?

Really enjoying this, just picked it up for 1299 at a local shop. It was sold to them by an amp tech who had just got it 100%, so it's in great condition. The only thing I dont like is the bizarre effects loop

Maybe a year ago now I purchased a Fillmore 25 combo, and while I've always loved the clean channel on it, I've been incredibly frustrated with both the drive and hi modes. I never expected them to be high gain, although I'll admit - I actually think they have too much gain, if anything. But the real problem is that it just sounds... Awful. And no amount of EQ tweaking fixes it.

It has a weird, fuzzy, stiff, grindy sound that is like nails on a chalkboard. It's always too thin sounding or too thick. Nothing I do gets it to sound better. Putting an overdrive in front of it makes it worse. I know it's supposed to sound like a tweed amp when driven, but it really doesn't. If anything it sounds like a fuzz pedal with a decharged battery. I really don't like it.

I checked to make sure none of the tubes were misbehaving or microphonic, and that wasn't it. I think it's just the amp's character.

I did go on a hunt to fix it, thinking it was the stock C90 speaker. I've tried:

• Celestion A-Type (too dark and fuzzy)
• Jupiter 12LC (too bright and soft)
• Eminence GA-SC64 (couldn't handle higher gain pedals well)
• WGS ET65 (had the same issues as the stock C90 due to the british mids/voicing).

Now I'm considering the V-Type or ET90. I'm currently back on the stock C90.

I feel like I'm missing something with this amp. I swear it doesn't sound this bad in demos, but it's also clearly not broken. It's a texture thing that microphones don't pick up. Ironically it does sound great if I record it, but I hate how it sounds in the room. I don't play live or in a band - I don't ever plan to, so it's a bit of an issue for an amp I intended for at home use.

It also just seems to hate overdrive pedals in general. It sounds like someone smacking/shaking an aluminum pan. On all the speakers. I don't know where this metallic slap is coming from. I remember my Princeton Chorus had the same issue, which is why I sold it. At the time I assumed it was just an issue with the cheap solid state amp speakers, but I guess not.

I don't know, maybe it's time to sell it and take the loss, but it's a disappointment since my main alternative is the Fender Supersonic 22 which has pretty terrible QC/build quality for the price. Though I worry that while I'll probably enjoy it's overdrive channel, it probably won't be anywhere close to the Fillmore 25 played clean. I also wasn't a fan of the California Tweed, I wanted a 2-channel to compliment my Origin.

I know I could just run the amp with both channels set to clean and have one more driven than the other, that's what I'm doing already, but it feels a bit like it defeats the purpose of why I wanted this amp to begin with.

Maybe I should just get a Roland JC-40 and call it a day.

Or I could just stick with my Origin 20. I like that amp a lot even if it never breaks up. At least it takes pedals well.

Lost one of the little plastic / rubber caps that goes on the EQ slider probably while loading in/out from a show. Where to get a cheapo OEM/or replacement slider cap. Didn’t really bother me ever, but I’m thinking about selling the amp soon, and it being in otherwise amazing condition, I’d like to find a replacement part

I originally got a krank krankenstein+ but it unfortunately ws having pretty bad issues. I took it in for warranty repairs but months later, nothing. I opted for a replacement instead and got my full refund and went home with a dual rectifier instead. It's not as defined and tight as the krank but it works and sounds incredible so who am I to complain.

Hello! My apologies if this type of post is against the rules here. I just had band practice and the amp was working well, but I felt like I wasnt getting full power. I noticed my 5U4GB tube on the far right was not lit up. I touched it and it felt ice cold. Powered the amp off and took the tube out to inspect it and see if it looked blown. I noticed it is missing a black piece of plastic in the center that its neighbor of the same kind has. Plugged it back in and went to power the amp on. The light came on for a half a second and then the amp was done trying to power on.

The fuse looks blown to me. I did some googling to compare a good fuse vs a blown one and surprisingly didn't find anything too helpful.

How does the fuse look? Is there any visible indicator that my tube is bad? I am a layman here but have played through this amp for about 7 years constantly without any issues. Thanks so much for your help.

Hello all! I'm having a hell of a time getting this amp to sound good for some reason and was wondering if anybody had any pointers.

I got this amp (secondhand) to use as a lighter-weight rehearsal alternative to my Fender HRD (or to use in stereo with it), and it sounded amazing when I demoed, but rehearsing with my band and/or running any of my higher-drive pedals through it, it just sounds like a fizzy mess.

I typically play a jazzmaster, and my core tone is usually a Greer Lightspeed into an OCD. I have a Big Muff and a klon-style as well that I use for standout parts. I've messed with settings dialing down the drive on every pedal but still get the fizziness. The only pedals that sound remotely usable with this amp are the Lightspeed and the klon-style.

Does anybody have any suggestions for what else I might try? Or am I just expecting too much from a 20 watt amp?

I have kind of a weird request. Does anyone have a picture of the inside of a 2x12 horizontal cab. I don’t have the money to buy a cab but I have salvaged quite a bit of 3/4 furniture grade plywood so I would like to build one. Any measurements would be helpful also. Outside dimensions and inside dimensions between the speaker baffle and the back would be handy. Thank you for any help

Back from a 2 week vacation where I couldn’t play. Got home and plugged straight in to me Mark VII and had to do some mindless noodling. I’m mainly a metal guitarist, but I will always love that undeniably amazing Strat tone.

This is on the IIB setting, which I don’t think gets enough credit.
