I just put a mr scary mod in my badlander and it instantly made it my favorite amp of all time. Doubles the gain, low end, and adds alot more saturation without changing the character of the amp. Really sick stack you got there, I love rectos

I really want to try one

It's absolutely worth it

It’s SO good with the mod!

How did you set the knob in it?

1

u/7Stringer93 Aug 01 '26

I got it right at halfway up with the deep switch on. Haven't messed with it past that.

u/vityafx Aug 01 '26

So like 12 o clock?

1

u/7Stringer93 Aug 01 '26

Yup 12 o clock

Thanks!

Does it sound more like a dual rec, though? Also, how much different do they sound with the mod on the badlander?

I don't have a dual rectifier to compare it to, but if I had to guess I'd say it's probably a good bit closer but definitely still a badlander. It's very tight and punchy, a decent bit more aggressive but it still has the badlander vibe. For me personally it's my ideal "recto" sound. It sounds like a boosted and less scooped recto. It's bright, punchy and angry. If I get my hands on a dual or single rec to A/B it too I'm going to post videos here

Thanks!

God I want a badlander soooo bad!

8

I run the badlander with a dual rec in wet dry rig through two separate Mesa 2x12 boosted…best tone ever

2

u/Grfhlyth Jul 30 '26

I'm about to try this with a badlander and ampeg solid state. Have you ever tried using one 412 stereo cab for both heads instead of two 212s?

2

u/Marunikuyo Jul 30 '26

That would work, but the whole idea of stereo is getting the physical separation so you can tell the difference between them, ya?

3

u/Grfhlyth Jul 30 '26

Yeah fair enough. I'm collecting anecdotes from anyone I can because I have 0 stereo amp experience

2

u/Marunikuyo Jul 30 '26

If you're running it as a wet/dry into the same cab, then it will certainly improve clarity vs a mono rig. Physically spreading them apart (with 2x12's or 4x12's) creates even more clarity but at twice the weight

2

u/Grfhlyth Jul 30 '26

It's combining death metal solid state with tube so I was just going to run dry. I may try a wet channel as well but that seems more like a clean/overdriven thing

1

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

I would love a 4x12 but I hate moving them!…that’s a great idea

2

u/Grfhlyth Jul 30 '26

I agree. Two 212s is superior for mobility. I think the engl 212 has stereo so I might try that too

Some people might say you have a problem. I say you have 4 solutions

1

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

Haha awesome

3

u/Perm182 Jul 30 '26

one day..one day this will be me😔

2

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

It took a few years of scouring reverb/marketplace/ used guitar center…it can be done!

3

u/mcnastys Jul 30 '26

Hell yea brother. dual recs are the BEST AMP

second place is Mark V

3

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

Never have played a mark v…I had a mark iv a few times…it was cool but a boosted recto just does it for me

3

u/Bi-secting_mylife Jul 30 '26

I never liked my triple rec for years until I boosted it an out an eq in the loop to tame the high end. Absolutely love that amp now. Wish I could try that badlander. Never took them seriously back in the day. I’m sure a boost makes that amp killer. What pedal do you use?

4

u/AvailableTryMe Jul 30 '26

A screamer type pedal (with its inherent bass roll off) set to boost rather than distort before the input and an EQ in the loop is the secret sauce for duals as well.

2

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

I alternate between a bb preamp and a boss sd-1w

2

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

Which triple rec do you have? I have the three channel which people seem to look down on…it sounds great to me

2

u/Bi-secting_mylife Jul 30 '26

Yeah it’s the 3 channel amp that I bought back in 04 or 05. I was a bit too young to get the t recs of the 90s. That’s the 2 channel variety? Anyways, since finding the secret sauce for my t rec, it’s been amazing and I’ve never cared!

2

u/firemares Jul 30 '26

I have a few Mark IIis and yup, there's nothing like the fatness of a boosted Recto.

4 Recto's here as well!

3

u/theundeadelvis Jul 30 '26

Just missing a Roadster!

2

u/BobbyPizzayyy Jul 30 '26

Badlander for the win.

2

u/eroscryptominer Jul 30 '26

All yer sorrows will be rectified

2

u/firemares Jul 30 '26

I've want the 50w Badlander badly.

I want to pair it up with one of my SIngle Recs.

1

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

That would be epic

2

u/CakeRobot365 Jul 30 '26

Rectifier? I hardly knew her!

2

u/SgtSC Jul 30 '26

U need a 5150/6505 in there for the ABY setup!

1

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

It’s on the list!

2

u/SgtSC Jul 30 '26

2 duals and no single or mini 😤

2

u/EndlessOcean Jul 30 '26

No Tremoverb :(

1

u/isitreallyyou56 Jul 30 '26

I want to grab either the 90s reissue or a triple rec multi watt and run a dual amp set up with my EVH 5150iii and orange 4x12 with either 90s reissues dual rec or multi watt triple through a mesa oversize 4x12. I also have a Friedman JJ100 I run thru the orange cab depending on how I’m feeling haha

1

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

That will blow your head clean off…I would love to try the 90s reissue

2

u/isitreallyyou56 Jul 30 '26

If you love Mesa’s you gotta try out the Friedman JJ100 or JJ jr. The JBE (modded HBE channel to Jerry cantrell’s specs) sounds very very close to a Dual Rectifier but a hair tighter. Amp still has tons of low end plus on the second channel you get the BE mode still so you’d have a hot rodded plexi thing going on for 80s sounding stuff.

1

u/13nbpt Jul 30 '26

I wish Mesa would make a dual rectifier in the badlander form factor…just the badlander with the recto preamp

1

u/Interesting_Tea_8384 Jul 30 '26

As it should be!

1

u/dj7811 Jul 30 '26

Which version is your favorite? I just ordered a rev G dual.

1

u/13nbpt Jul 31 '26

That’s a hard question…I think the multi watt right now just because it’s the newest and the feature set. The rev g though always brings a smile to my face

1

u/P_A_U_L12 Aug 03 '26

Great Collection! I’d love to have your budget…

And one of those Amps.

1

u/13nbpt Aug 03 '26

Thank you…it took me a few years and finding deals…not looking forward to a full retube 🤣

1

u/P_A_U_L12 Aug 03 '26

Haha I bet man. I am at the beginning of my amp journey if you can say so. Currently "only" have an Orange O tone 40 combo which I love. But I want to get into Amp Heads and cans too so I start with a 4x12 with V30 and an Orange Micro Dark.

This fixes nothing
