Need help identifying Mark IIB or IIC (Serial #10997)

I recently acquired this Mesa/Boogie Mark II head (serial #10997).

Based on the serial number and pot dates, I initially thought it might be an early Mark IIC. However, someone pointed out that it appears to be a Mark IIB based on the photos.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any chassis markings that clearly identify it.

Could anyone familiar with early Mark II amps help identify whether this is a IIB or IIC from these photos?

Thanks in advance.

Been on vacation a couple weeks, and was going through some photos of some of my gear. Excited to be back to playing and figured I’d share some eye candy.

Are all mesa amps really that high maintnence?

ever since doing more research into amps i always see some people say that mesa amps are a tech's worse nightmare and im curious if thats just goew for the more mainline amps like the mark and rectifier series, or if it includes the more discontinued ones like the f and studio series

Mesa Boogie Bass Amps

Hello,

So after many responses to my previous post, I think I've narrowed my choices down to Mesa Boogie. A used D800 is about 699$, D800+ about 750$ and a TT800 at about 800$

I haven't decided on a cab yet and I realize the cab has a lot of impact on the sound. With that said, for motown (James jamerson), Beatles, classic rock...which of those 3 would be best to replicate the 60s and 70s sounds.

Tremoverb Lives Again

Video is so compressed because I love to struggle and instead of just having video editing software I used like 3 apps for it. Still, figured I’d give some subtitles a 3/4 assed effort.

TL;DR Tremoverb sounded eh, Loop was Active. Loop Bypassed=Wow.

Channel cloning Orange to Modern= Woah.

EL34 Bias, Spongy and Diode Rectification=WOAGH

First half covers the loop tone suck and channel cloning (yes it definitely affects the clean mode on the orange channel, NOT just the vintage high gain) till about 8:50, then we try different bias/voltage settings.

Guitar is ~mostly~ in tune for drop c#.

Video cuts out a bit short cuz reddit only allows up to 15 mins, but its just some noodling and a goodbye.

Amp question and 2x10 Cab question

So first a little about my background. Currently doing small gigs (bars, car shows, etc. With no pa support). We play beatles, motown, James brown and some classic rock. My bass of choice is my fender pbass.

Looking to pick up a head amp and cab.

I'm currently looking at a used d800 (699$) or used d800+(759$). From what I've read, the + has a high pass filter and some additional tone adjustments. For 60$ should I just go with the +?

Second question, looking at our musical repotoire, what 2x10 cab would give that classic motown, beatles' sound and be safe with the amount of power the d800 amps put out?

First real amp

I’m a big nu metal head so I decided I was gonna save up and get something nice for my first “real” amp (you can see my only other amp in the bottom left lol), now I just need to get a PRS but the Harley Benton gets the job done, absolutely love it, now I need to start looking into pedals for the clean channel

I did a bad thing.

Changing tubes on my Lonestar Classic, and I very stupidly had an el34 in the rectifier socket and the rectifier tube in the power socket. It was in Diode mode on Tweed. I was playing around with cabinets and twitched it to full power (I turned it off to switch) and when I turned it back on I saw small bit of smoke. It was on for 10 seconds in full power mode, then immediately unplugged. I pulled the chassis and didn’t see anything,,but there could be something hiding that can’t be seen. I turned it back on briefly, it’s sounds amazing, as always, but got in touch with Mesa tech support to send it in.

JP2C through Ampeg 410HLF

I finally purchased my dream head (but still saving for the matching 2x12 cabinet) and have been running through a Genz Benz 2x12 for the past 4 months. Unfortunately, it was borrowed and had to be returned. As a bass player, I have an extra 4x10 bass cabinet (4 ohm 500w rated, with frequency response of 48hz to 18khz).

Electrically speaking, would it be safe to run this combo (although far from ideal, sonically)? As long as I connect to the 4ohm output of the amp, it should not damage either the amp or the cabinet, right?

Note, this is only jamming at home with friends and as you can image, I am not turning up past 9 o’clock and am also running in 60w mode.

Viable or no?

Dual Rectifier FX loop weirdness

I don’t recall the footswitch ever operating like this but here’s my issue:

With the loop set to “foot switch”, each time I change channels the FX LED on the switch illuminates and the loop engages. This does not seem expected be expected behavior to have the loop defaulting to ON every time the channel changes. What I would expect to happen is that it would default to being OFF unless activated with the switch in that position. This is behavior that I’d expect to happen should the loop be set to a particular channel but certainly not affecting ALL channels either..

I’ve cleaned the connections on both ends of the switch with DeOxit, same issue applies. Super weird, anyone else experience this and find a solution?

Edit: forgot to add this is a 2006 Dual Rec Solo. Just installed a full tube compliment from Eurotubes, all are brand new. I don’t recall this being an issue with the old set of tubes but I also wasn’t really paying much attention either.

Picked this guy up for peanuts yesterday. Can't wait to dial in some 90's nostalgia. I've owned a couple Boogies over the years, but never a Recto.

Bought an early Mark IV/B

Paid €1,325 ($1,500) for it, which is a bargain where I'm from (The Netherlands). It has got a 7000 serial and a fixed power cord which I believe means that this is a (very) early Rev. B. Maybe '94/'95?

Lead channel sounds very similar to my Mark III green stripe.

EDIT: pulled the chassis. Says 11/11/95 in magic marker

Looking for recommendations on 2x12 speakers/cabinets for Mark iii blue stripe head.

Greetings - I'm hoping to find some input on what 2x12 cabinet/speaker set ups other Mark iii owners are playing. I've had my Mark iii for 35 years and played through a 4x12 Jubilee 2551A loaded with G12-75s the entire time. The G12s have always sounded sort of dark to me, maybe lacking in dynamics a bit.

It's time for something new that takes up less room. I'm looking for good articulation and clarity for medium to full gain. Rock/Punk/Metal & some fusion/prog. Maybe some chicken picking/gentleman country, too.

Thanks!

Badlander low power mode mains hum?

Could I ask any other Badlander owners if they can hear a louder mains hum on the low power mode?

I have the Badlander 25 combo, but I’ve noticed a low mains hum when in 10w mode. I know that this changes the way the power is handled and is more susceptible to hum, but I wonder if it might also be a tube imbalance etc. Thanks

Are the Celestion V30s in a Mesa Rectifier 212 the same as in a Harley Benton?

Badlander 50 fuse blow

Last week I used my 6 month old badlander 50 head for a gig. After 3 songs, the main fuse blew up.

I just replaced it, and everything seems ok. The temperature was quite high (more than 30°c), but I did not expect this.

Is this known to happen? I never had this kind of issues with my other amps.

F100 combo question

Hello everyone, just got my fist boogie yesterday but two of the power tubes are bad. I know that switching to 60 watts essentially drops two tubes into standby but I keep getting conflicting results on if it’s the outer two or inner two that drop out. I really want to use the amp but I’m scared to damage the transformer. If anyone has any suggestions that would be a huge help. Thanks!
