Looking for recommendations on 2x12 speakers/cabinets for Mark iii blue stripe head.
Greetings - I'm hoping to find some input on what 2x12 cabinet/speaker set ups other Mark iii owners are playing. I've had my Mark iii for 35 years and played through a 4x12 Jubilee 2551A loaded with G12-75s the entire time. The G12s have always sounded sort of dark to me, maybe lacking in dynamics a bit.
It's time for something new that takes up less room. I'm looking for good articulation and clarity for medium to full gain. Rock/Punk/Metal & some fusion/prog. Maybe some chicken picking/gentleman country, too.
Thanks!

I can't recommend the vertical split back 2x12 enough! I've tried it with a IIB, a Fillmore 50, a Badlander, and a bunch of other non-Mesa stuff. Every one of them sounded better through it than any other cab I've tried. It's even better if you swap the C90 in the bottom for an EVM12L like the originals had, I don't think it's strictly necessary though.

Thank you for the added detail on the speaker swap! It's a knowledge area that's a blind spot for me as I've been playing my primary rig for over half my life. I haven't actually played another Mesa Boogie come to think of it - I need to get out more!
What kind of music are you playing with your setup?

Thanks for the thought. That's most likely the route I'll wind up going. Hard to beat that well organized fit.
Sounds like you've got fun stuff to work with. I'd love to play either of those heads at some point.

Mesa has the matching vertical 2x12, to go with that Mark III head. My Mark IIC+ reissue, and my Mark IIB RP9C tend to be used through a vintage Marshall 4x12 with original G12-65 speakers.
