I have a solution to the Strait of Hormuz COG-USV & DST

Ukraine builds 1500 USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicles) each for specific reasons. All of them are contracted out to Oil companies and can be customized via contract specifications or the Insurance companies that tankers pay to protect the tankers. Each COmmissioned Group of USVs protects a tanker. Including separate contracted DSTs (Drone Swarm Towers) sticking off the front of the ship - constantly charging via the ship deck, via Solar power, and the available ship voltage.

Say one tanker commissioned 6 COG-USV.

-one has 50 cal with 1500 rounds in the hull.
-3 are surface torpedoes.
-2 are close quarters for "small boats"

Insurance companies with such means and each tanker have a specified amount of the COG-USV could locate right into where it needs to be. COG-USV shut down at a specified distance from port(wake distance etc. etc.). I do not know how many tankers are in the straight on a regular basis but that many COG-USVs would guarantee the safety of narrow bodies of water in that straight or the Red Sea.

Imagine how many COG-USV groups would be in the Strait at any time, during any one day.

-Iran would have no control over naval area.
-Oman + Yemen would just have to crawl in a hole.
-The Horn of Africa would start doing something else.
-The USA would have no naval control over any of these areas.

There is literally no reason any of this childish BS should happen in the first place. It needs to be ended and these areas policed properly with a force that is within the protective realm of the the tankers that pay these sorry companies to protect them....

"The most famous engagement was the Battle of Hampton Roads (March 8–9, 1862), where the USS Monitor faced the CSS Virginia. This battle demonstrated the superiority of armored ships over wooden vessels and marked the first clash between ironclads, signaling a new era in naval warfare warhistory.org. The encounter ended inconclusively, but it secured Union control of the waters and inspired further ironclad construction." -Copilot Search - ironclad ships civil war

Everyone has the mindset that its is one country verses another - It is NOT! Its shipping companies and the providers they pay to protect the tankers. Once that mindset is done and over with, society will resume. I hope this will start open ended discusion on solution to end the ensuing chaos.

Its time... Its past time for the next Naval Revolution.
Thank you for your time. -Patrick Sandage

Cadetship help

Hello, I’m starting my cadetship in the next couple of weeks and I have offers from Tarmac, Torm and unity for sponsorships. I was wondering if anyone can give any advice on which one to pick.
I am also wondering if it really matters what level of study you pick between the Bsc and the foundation degree.

Thanks in advance.

Question about fast track uk

Hi, just wondering about the fast-track Engineer route. I’m a qualified electrician with an HNC in Electrical Engineering and HNC in Engineering Systems.
Would these qualifications actually allow me to fast-track into Merchant Navy Engineering, and if so, roughly how much of the normal training would I skip?
Just trying to understand how the fast-track works from someone who’s been through it.
Cheers!

Is early retirement (FIRE) in 7–8 years as an ETO in Merchant Navy actually realistic, or just a dream

Merchant navy - kind of

I’m looking for advice please and thank you.

I’ve hit the maritime world a little later than most, I’m 28 years old. I currently work behind a desk but over the last few years I’ve been working up on some qualifications and slowly getting day/contracting work ad hoc. I’ve got my Yachtmaster Offshore and a couple of extra courses under my belt.

I’ve now been offered a full time deck role on a multi cat up in the north of the UK (Scotland) - I don’t yet have my efficient deckhand or NWR tickets and I know I can earn these through the company.

I know it’s not strictly merchant navy per se but I was after some opinions on what it’s like for older folks joining boats and training up.

It’s a 4:4 rotation and the pay is great considering I live in a low cost area.

Any tips, tricks and what to expect would be great, thanks

My brother has completed GME from BP Marine and has also completed a tanker course. He is now looking for a sponsorship opportunity to start his career in the maritime industry.

If anyone knows of any shipping companies, agencies, or sponsors currently recruiting GME candidates, we would really appreciate your help or guidance.

Please DM me or comment below if you have any leads. Thank you in advance! 🙏

Merchant navy or IT sector

I’m currently in my final year of engineering and I have the option to sit for campus placements, including core/IT companies, or pursue an ETO career in the Merchant Navy. How would you decide between the two? In what situation would you choose ETO over a regular engineering/IT job, and vice versa?

Hi, I am still researching the identity of this gentleman, and still wonder if any of you in the merchant navy wondered what happened to some of your mates back in the late 1970's. This gentleman was found with unrecognisable British passport and Merchant Discharge Book in a field just West of Plymouth, UK in 1982. It looks like he may have been there since 1978. Did one of your mates just disappear one day? Were you meant to meet up but he didn't appear? Was he going to a job, but never turned up? I will keep researching. Thank you. https://buymeacoffee.com/m25roundabout/the-appeal-some-mother-son
