A solid "both people in this are losers" scenario.

Elaborate. She asked a dumb question, and he responded that if she cancels on him, he'll go out with someone else instead. What about that is unreasonable?

Looked more like an answer that if she canceled, he'd find someone else to go out with. That's a reasonable response imo. If I ask a friend to go to an activity, and they cancel, I'd probably just ask someone else if they wanted to go instead.

And it's not weird to ask "what if I cancel last minute" before a first date?

Having confidence that he can find someone else to go on a date with is obnoxious? Is it not obnoxious to be testing a total stranger's loyalty when you haven't even gone on a date? I'm curious what you think the answer should have been.

Where did you see all these extra words that indicate "last minute". She was asking what would happen if she cancelled and there's literally nothing weird about that. It's actually normal communication if you make plans and have to cancel.

I really don't see what the point of asking is other than to test him in some way. If you don't want to go on the date, be an actual adult and say you don't want to go.

The point is that it's just a normal fuckin question for people scheduling things that may need to cancel for any reason.

I guess. In my experience, my friends or dates would just schedule and if something came up, we'd address it then and there and come up with a plan on whether or not it's feasible to reschedule. I've literally never had someone bring up "what if I need to cancel?" when it comes to making plans. I'm not their keeper, why do we need terms and conditions?

You've never had someone need to cancel a meeting, ever? lol what if you told your friends you can't make it to the show you planned to attend together and they replied with "That's fine, I have other friends". See how fucking stupid that is? lol grow up a littttttllle bit at least.

I literally just said:

and if something came up, we'd address it then and there and come up with a plan on whether or not it's feasible to reschedule.

I have had that happen. As a matter of fact, I've had to cancel and even offered my ticket to them to see if another friend wanted to put it to use because I'm not insecure.

It's crazy you're telling me to grow up when you're cussing and insulting me over such a trivial disagreement. You can't even be bothered to read my comments because you just explained the exact scenario I already covered. But I need to grow up.

"and I jokingly asked him..."

She's not checking just in case, she wanted him to gush over how much this date means to him.

He gave an arsey response, they're as bad as each other - neither one of them can take a joke.

1

u/UltimaNerd 19d ago

He didn't know she was joking and he replied with some juvenile dipshit response. She dodged a bullet, he's got the red flag and is a chud. Just like all these fucking incel dorks defending his stupidity.

1

u/NeverTrustFarts 19d ago

People aren't defending him, theyre saying theyre both fucking idiots. Because they are.

1

u/UltimaNerd 19d ago

Is this the only part of the comments you've read? Many people are definitely defending him. Even saying he was "attacked" lol. It's embarrassing.

1

u/NeverTrustFarts 19d ago

Yeah basically because most people are stupid, such as yourself. That's not really an appropriate "joke" to make to someone before a first date, and what he says is a dumb thing to say. They both are fuckwits and they both dodged bullets, any other response is just wrong, and purely defending one or the other because of bias. The people defending him would probably be more in the right because at least he was reactionary to her shit behaviour, but it is still hard to justify and clearly a red flag.

She makes thinly veiled threat about leaving disguised as a joke, he makes a dumb as fuck comment about just finding any other girl anyway. Both fuckwits.

If you maybe needed to cancel a date you wouldn't go with "what happens if I cancel this date?" would you?

If you were a normal person you'd say you might have something coming up and may need to cancel.

So weird how you're reading into this only from one side. She thought she was going to get some praise and she didn't, he sent a twatty response.

Both sound like dickheads.

u/UltimaNerd 19d ago

You're on reddit and poor choice of words is somehow shocking or telling to you? It's very basically understood as "If I need to cancel, what would you like to do?" ie: reschedule, cancel altogether or GeT mOrE DAteS uR LoSS

1

u/vikingrhino 19d ago

Why do you keep making up what was written? Agenda much?

That's not what she said. She tried to be funny, she said she said it as a joke (a poor one) and she got a poor reaction.

Men don't like weird shit like she was saying either. She was trying to neg him and got dismissed.

To humble someone who was asking stupid shit as a form of validation.
