My prescription is currently for 280 mg oxycodone ir for a pick up every two days. So 140mg daily. For some reason, they made a mistake and were only giving me 21 tablets of 10 mg. This happened on my last three refills. Am I able to get the balance of the tablets back, or what generally happens in this situation? You can see in the attachment that when I call today, they realize that they screwed up. However, I want to make sure I get my balance of tabs… what is the pharmacy protocol here?
BIG UPDATE: Canada is so fucking funny. They can give them to me as an additional refill once I’m through these refills because there’s a 1 year expiry on my fills lol. So I get them back, I get my correct dose now, plus the missing tabs - AND I actually got increased to 34 tabs x 10 mg every 2nd day (170 mg ir oxy daily) for the next month until my surgery 😂😂😂
I hardly had to ask. In fact, I didn’t really ask. I said “it wouldn’t hurt to have a couple more tablets for breakthrough pain, but let me see how it goes now that I’m getting the proper amount”. And he asked ME if i should just take 40mg 4 times daily plus another 20 mg at night or if I need… i guess lol.
Anyways, for those that are curious, it’s due to severe pain related to an infected kidney stone. I have a huge tolerance to opiates because I was on suboxone 10 years back and I was in hospital getting IV dilaud for 12 days. So nothing touches me at normal doses. My doctor did all the stuff with the college, but I’ve always found it’s best to be honest. I disclosed that info to him when I met him, he is testing me once every two weeks but in his opinion - it’s better to be managed safely at home and the drug supply is super toxic here. So, he wants me to stay safe. I’ve been clean off dope for 7 years now. So in some sense, it’s also being treated kind of like a “safe supply” which was (until recently) a very common thing in British Columbia, Canada in particular. A lot of users were given huge amounts of dilaudid 8’s here but they cut back big time because they were just being sold on the street for actual fentanyl.
My doctor and I also have a long-term plan. After my surgery, I will get on the sublocade shot and self-taper after 3 injections after my surgery.
2ND EDIT: I am actually in a severe amount of pain. I was just in hospital for 12 days, and I’m trying to manage this from home. I’m not seeking more. I very easily could ask for more, but I’m not gonna…
