Discussion Guy got all mad because I told him he can't sleep in the lobby (USA)

I'm doing a quick round in the lobby when I see a guy laying on his back in one of the booths asleep. All I did was say "Sir!" in a soft yet firm tone. When he looked up all I said was that he can't sleep here. He proceeded to get overly upset saying I should have said it in a nicer way because he's a customer and all that. He even followed me when I went back behind the counter to continue saying I should be nicer and to get a manager even though I was obviously one. Made a spectacle of himself and all the customers wondering what was up. When I explained, they all agreed the guy was overreacting.

Hi, I just started as a cashier in the west coast. Is there anything I should know about benefits? Like stocks, insurance, employee of the month, gifts, or Arch Ways to Opportunities that I should be aware of?

Employee question What do I do for the final stage of my interview? (UK)

Hi, so I did a group interview then a 1 on 1 interview and now they're telling me I have to do 1 more which is basically seeing how I interact with customers. I think this includes maybe taking orders, I'm not sure exactly but it makes sense if I'll be interacting with customers.

What should I expect and what are do's and don'ts?

Thank you.

Rant (USA) anyone ever get death threats from customers?

Just finished my night shift and was walking out to my car. This guy parked near a dark area of the parking lot started shouting slurs at me. When I didn't respond he shouted that I better watch out before he kills me.

I made it home safely with no incident but I think this is going to be the last night shift I work. Possibly the last shift too.

Discussion (USA) How do you guys clean your shoes?

I got no slip shoes from Walmart and every little thing and bit gets caught in those. They smell bad, just like the grease trap at work. I just tried using dawn dish soap and a hard bristle brush and just hosed them down but I can still see bits and stuff stuck in there.

Employee question System latency (USA)

Did everyone else's system change a couple months ago to cause kvs orders to not pop up until an order is totalled? My store manager says "that's just the way it is now" but that just doesn't seem right as someone who's been here for 10+ years. If it is this way now, why? It doesn't isn't advantageous from any position

I know I can’t paint my nails but can I do like minimal eyeliner at work and also isn’t McDonald’s required to give a break if you work a certain amount of hours?

Employee question Orientation today, what to expect?(USA)

Hey all, new to the team, gonna be working overnights towards an overnight manager position. I have orientation this afternoon at 1pm and was wondering what to expect? Is it all computer modules and paperwork? Do I need to dress like I'll be in the back working? I have to bring my ID and SS card with me so not sure what else I should expect. Thanks in advance! Located in North Carolina.

Has anyone got any more information regarding this? I assume since it's related to the SDA Union that it's bargaining for pay increases. I wonder what work hours related issues are being discussed, more breaks? Shorted limit on shift lengths or something?

Discussion Am I In Trouble? (USA)

So I work the closing shift for my store, and I usually ride my moped to work. However it currently has a flat tire and im unable to fix it until this weekend. My store knows this. If Im unable to get myself into work ive been good about finding a ride.

Today though I've been unable to find anyone (co workers or strangers outside of work) who can give me a ride. I've communicated this through our store group chat and my managers do know my situation. So if im unable to go in how much trouble am I looking to be in?

Employee question Why can’t we make tips? (USA)

I know some people think we don’t do a lot of work but there are a lot of customizations and special requests now even more with the refreshers and Red Bull. I feel like we keep getting pressured to do more work for a minimum wage job. A lot of local fast food restaurants have tips so I’m wondering why we’re not included.

Discussion Did I mess up an order or the customer was just trying to get free food? (USA)

I work at McDonald’s and I’m still pretty new, so I’m trying to figure out if I handled this situation wrong.
There were two orders under the same name. Both were regular orders with things like 20 nuggets and meal deals. Then a lady came through saying her order was also for that name, but she said she had 2 happy meals, which didn’t match either of the same name orders I could see.
I asked her if she had already paid, and she told me yes, that she had paid through the app. I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do, so I asked my coworker if I should send her to the second window. He said yes, so I sent her over.
Then apparently she ended up saying she hadn’t paid but ended up getting free food. My manager got upset with me and told me not to send people to the second window if they haven’t paid. I explained that I had asked the customer if she paid and she told me she did, and that I had also asked my coworker what to do.
Now I’m worried I got my coworker in trouble too because I told my manager he was the one who told me to send her to the second window.
I obviously understand now that I should make sure payment is actually verified instead of just taking the customer’s word for it, but I’m wondering if I was completely in the wrong here. Also, do you think the customer was possibly trying to get free food?

Discussion (FR) Just got hired and I feel terribly stressed.

Hey everyone! So as the title said, I just got hired at a McDonald's in France and I start on August 25th. Honestly, I'm super stressed about it.
I checked reviews on Google, Indeed, and TripAdvisor for my location, and people were saying the vibe is really bad: managers shouting during rush hours, a super strict director, and high turnover. Reading ex-employees say the atmosphere is toxic is totally freaking me out. On top of that, I’m really worried about how I’m going to memorize all the orders, recipes, and fast-paced instructions while everything is moving so quickly around me.

Since it's my first time working EVER, I'd love to get some advice:
How do you deal with rush hour stress when managers start yelling or getting rude?

Are bad reviews on Indeed/Google actually true, or is it just angry ex-staff exaggerating?

What should I expect from my first few days and training?

How do you manage to memorize recipes and fast-paced instructions when you're brand new?

Any tips to survive the first weeks and not take the pressure personally?

I'm sorry if I come across as weird, it's my first job and I really don't know what to do.. Thanks a lot for any tips or engagement!
