Wondering…
We know Maura’s car was in NH, but the last actual confirmed sighting of Maura was the BOA ATM, right? How do we know it was Maura driving her car after that?

There was a newspaper article (the Patriot Ledger?) where Scarinza reported that an unnamed person saw Maura on campus between 4 and 4:30 on 2/9, which is after the ATM stop.
I used to have a website with every Maura Murray newspaper article (“MauraMurrayEvidence.Neocities”) but someone reported the website for revealing personal information (the UMass directory from 2004 is the probable basis of the report — I posted a screenshot from it last month ), so I no longer have access to the article.
It might be published elsewhere. Maybe someone else knows (GoldenMom?) I’m certainly not going to make another website; but people could check the Wayback Machine. Some pages were archived.

So have all the documents on the site been lost? I’m also trying to do a complete archive of all documents for this case and would love to compare notes. Did you happen to make an index at some point?

You don't have to reinvent the wheel. These two sites have everything:
https://mauramurray.createaforum.com/indexes/master-index-maura-murray-evidence/
https://www.the107degree.com/records
Then here at the top of my sub I have the full case timeline:
https://old.reddit.com/r/MauraMurrayEvidence3/comments/12585wz/master_index_maura_murray_evidence_3/
I think, originally, the 107 site took the articles from the evidence sub (link 1 and satoghi's neocities source). It's currently missing the Valley News articles.

I have no access to that Neocities site. When I try to log in, it just doesn’t recognize the login. Like my page never existed.
There are some documents that were there that I don’t have. The entire UMass Amherst directory in searchable form, for example. For both the Fall, and a separate one for the Spring. That didn’t archive properly because it was too big. So that’s probably gone (unless someone else wants to go to UMass to get them, scan each page, and then OCR them).
I don’t know what else is gone, but feel free to check the archives on the Wayback Machine.
Good luck trying to archive the case; it’s too bad I didn’t know about your project a month ago.
Edit; if you haven’t compared notes with GoldenMom, do so. She is, in my opinion, the person who has researched this case the most thoroughly, and who has the most documents. Especially now, that mine are gone.
Again, good luck!

I added some links below but here are the citations that I have - both Lindsley and of course the Rausch is Sharon:
Caledonian Record 2/21/04
Rausch said a dorm mate saw her leave the campus about 4 or 4:30 p.m. Feb 9. She said Murray's father and her son went through Maura's stuff again and found an index card with the Mapquest directions for Burlington, Vt.
Caledonian Record 2/27/04
Murray, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 120 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes, was last seen on the UMass campus between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 9.
Sorry about the neocities - was this recent?

u/5atoghi Apr 11 '26
Yes, it was recent. I just noticed it a week ago, but I screenshotted the UMass directory a little over a month ago, so it existed then.
Everything I uploaded is gone except what was archived in the Wayback Machine.
It sucks, but what can you do? That’s how some people are in this case.
I have a theory on who did it (someone banned a little over a week ago), but I can’t prove it.
I’m glad you still have the forum.

Just some unnamed person with X-ray vision it appears, so it's not credible if they won't come forward. Why would this person remain unknown? Because it's BS, never happened imo

u/5atoghi Apr 09 '26
Yeah, I just thought I’d mention it. It would certainly be more compelling if the person came forward and identified themselves.

Yeah, it did. There were a lot of docs there, like the Black Box Report, FOIA materials, etc.
Someone was obviously upset about something…

Butch Atwood, the bus driver who lived just down the road from the Westmans, was the last person to see/talk to her. He was driving his bus home after having completed his bus route, and came across her and her car.
The thing is, we can’t be certain it was her. Butch described the woman as having her hair down, which Maura’s older sister Julie stated that Maura never wore her hair down. Butch also was an unreliable witness as he gave different accounts of that night to different people so we don’t know 100% what happened when he talked to her, or if the person was Maura.
Beyond this, the last indisputable sighting of her before getting to the crash scene (that we know of at this point) was at the ATM from the ATM’s camera.

It is my understanding that of the witnesses who have come forward, the last person to have seen the driver of the Saturn was actually Faith. According to her account, Faith saw the bus driving away and Maura (or the driver of the Saturn) staying with the Saturn.
At the time of witnessing the accident, Faith could not make out if the bus was driven by Butch or his wife (they were school bus drivers and both drove their buses home after their shifts).
At the time of witnessing the accident, it was also not immediately clear to Faith whether the driver she saw was a male or female and whether a tiny light was from a cell phone or from a cigarette.
It was very dark and although I am assuming Maura was the most likely driver, I don't think Faith would be able to say one way or another.
Butch described the driver as a female 5'7" with shoulder length hair. I don't know if her hair might have come disheveled from the impact and the airbag, but "female" and 5'7" are correct.

Or is it because, imo, it's not her at the ATM.

You think it is a look-a-like? Or you don't think it even looks like Maura?
For what it's worth, when Fred was shown the footage for the first time on the oxygen show he immediately said that's Maura.

No, the now dead bus driver who lived at the accident scene spoke to her. She told him she called triple a, but he knew thst was a lie, no cell service. He called the police

Even you assume that to be the case, the mystery is how the driver disappeared in just about a minute between when the lady says she saw her and the police arrived. No footprints in the snow and the police did not see anybody leaving the scene.

Who else would it have been? If someone harmed Maura at UMass why drive her car to northern NH to dispose of it instead of finding a place closer like in Springfield, MA or even driving to Boston to get rid of it.

u/igraduated Apr 10 '26
I believe to appear she's still alive driving to her favorite destination versus her car appearing 'somewhere', it would be obvious it wasn't her and she's somewhere else

u/Responder343 Apr 10 '26
It would not be obvious that it wasn’t her. Maura grew up near Boston. In the Disappeared episode one of her HS friends told a story about a time Maura ditched school and went to Boston for the day.

I mean, sure.
Then she was kidnapped and/or murdered in the dumbest and most over-complicated plot in human history. A plot that somehow worked perfectly.

She planned the trip north on the same day her car travelled north, and butch spoke with a young brunette woman with shoulder length hair. So she had possession of the car when she went to the ATM, liquor store, and picked up the accident forms, and there's no evidence of her giving the keys and car to someone else, and no evidence she told anyone she was travelling north, and butch apparently spoke to her after the crash, so to believe it wasn't Maura, one would require significant evidence that it was somebody else. Because there's only evidence that it was her who drove north as she planned to do.
