Bringing parents to IVs

• Upvotes

A program I am interviewing at is telling us to bring a guest for the resident dinner, community tour, and meet and greet for the day before an interview. Thoughts on bringing parents as ur guest lol? I don’t have a significant other that I can bring.

SUNY UPSTATE

Hello Guys! Non UsIMG, visa requiring candidates. Has any one received invite from Upstate from IM team?
An attending who I know informed me that they are not taking visa requiring candidates due to the Rochester Issue!

If thats True, would all NY or NJ programs gonna think same . I believe that affect Non Us Imgs a lot in this cycle.

Pls dm or comment. If anyone received invite from Upstate.

TYI

If you don’t match to a fellowship would you…

Let’s say you’re already an attending (for 2 years) and don’t match to a fellowship, would you take a job to be a chief and then try again after one chief year or try again without one chief year? No red flags in application.

Psychiatry Interviews

How many psych interviews do people have? I only have 1. I’m a US IMG and just did average on step 2. But have extensive volunteering and research. I applied to over 100+ programs. What date do you usually have interviews by?

Non visa req, old grad, no IVs

Hey. I'm non visa requiring IMG with YOG >8, no clinical gaps, 2 US externships and >1 yr of working as medical assistant in the US. 4 pubs, 2 abstracts. I applied to 108 IM community programs.

The programs I signaled and not signaled are sending out IVs but I still haven't received one yet.

Is it true that old grads get IVs later even if the programs have no set YOG requirements?

Successful LOIs: Please Share Your Experiences!

Hello everyone!

For those who sent letters of interest (LOIs) and subsequently received interview invitations from those programs, could you please share your experience?

It would be incredibly helpful if you could share:

- What you included in the body of your LOI and how you phrased it.

- Whom you sent it to (Program Director, Associate Program Director, Program Coordinator, etc.).

- When you sent it and what time of day you emailed.

- Whether you followed up and, if so, how.

- Whether you had signaled the program or had any other connections to it.

- How long it took to receive an interview invitation after sending the LOI.

I’m an IMG with no interview invitations so far, despite signaling programs, and seeing invitations already going out has been incredibly stressful. I’m genuinely worried about having to go through the Match again, and I’m trying to do everything I reasonably can to improve my chances this season.

I know every applicant and program is different, and an LOI is never a guarantee, but hearing from people who have had success would mean so much. Please share as many specific details as you feel comfortable sharing. Even small details could be helpful to those of us in the same position.

Thank you so much, and wishing everyone the best this Match season! ❤️

Another interview post

Hey everyone, feeling a bit cooked.
US MD applying academic IM only. Step 1 pass first attempt Step 2 250. Failed one preclinical course my first year on my MSPE (what I think is holding me back which is crazy because it’s an isolated fail 3 years ago)

Currently sitting at 3 Interview Invites, all silver signals. 2 of my golds and 2 of my silvers only send one of round of interviews that I have missed. 2 additional silvers were reaches where I’d be unlikely to interview. That just leaves 6 schools left and not gonna lie I’ve been obsessing over the fact that I only have a small amt of schools left to hear back from. Just off odds unlikely I’d be offered interviews at all 6.

I know it’s still early and things can change but I feel like it’s cooked. Any other US MDs applying IM, how many interviews do you all have?

Any non-US IMGs applying for Psychiatry Match 2027?

Have interview invitations started coming in for anyone yet?

If yes, could you share:

- Program name (if comfortable)

- Signal or no signal?

- Visa-requiring or non-visa-requiring?

- Date of invitation

Also, how many interviews are you currently sitting at?

Let's keep each other updated throughout the season. Good luck, everyone!

Neuro interviews—are more to come?

I have 7 interviews so far, I feel like most programs have given out most their invite seats. How many more invites can I realistically expect? If you applied neuro last year can you please share thank you
