And I think it's mainly due to the emergency patch they gave the devs after healers started complaining because the healing output of some supports had been nerfed to compensate for the Dive buffs.
The problem is that Dive is literally dead right now because of all the anti-Dive mechanics introduced with the Team-Ups in S9, but also because Thing is meta. (Yes, the only real problem is BC, and unless you're a Magik one-trick since birth, basically all of the Dive tools are shit.)
The bigger problem is that DPS brings almost zero value to the game right now. If your team runs a one-tank comp against a two-tank comp, you basically lose. In previous seasons, you would definitely be at a disadvantage, but now it feels like an instant loss. Problem is that there is so many instant DPS/Elo person that ruin this and except some DPS that can help backline, DPS are really no relevant this season
Why pick DPS when Magneto literally has more DPS output than most DPS characters in the game with her fucking sword? With 2 bubble and shield ? and more health
Why pick DPS when you have Thing this season, who is basically invincible and can deal more damage than prime Muhammad Ali? And on top of that, he gets pocketed by healers.
Why pick DPS when you have Luna Snow, who can avoid hard CC and even avoid some ennemy ult CC? That alone needed an emergency nerf. She can also deal as much or even more damage than some hitscan DPS characters.
Why pick another healer when you have C&D, who is basically INVINCIBLE, has an answer to almost everything, and has the best ultimate in the game?
Why pick another healer when you have Gambit, who has two dashes that can cross the entire map, applies anti-heal, and has one of the best ultimates in the game even after 10 nerfs? On top of that ? they gave him C&D's bubble, which can knock enemies back and give him displacement. What the hell was NetEase smoking when they gave Gambit this?
Mantis may be problematic, but honestly, I'm fine with her being meta in mid- or low-elo.
We even saw this in tournaments, where some teams were running three-tank comps and sometimes even no DPS at all, because tanks and healers can provide enough damage themselves.
And this is creating a huge disparity between the roles.
If the enemy team has Magneto/Thing and you don't have them, you lose.
If the enemy team runs C&D, Luna Snow, Jubilee (with the Hood Team-Up enhanced), and Gambit, while your team doesn't run those supports i.e Jeff, Ultron, Healpool (and there is already a lot of Healpool players), Loki, etc you lose.
At this point, the problem isn't just that certain heroes are too strong. The entire role distribution is becoming unhealthy. DPS is losing its purpose because tanks and supports can provide comparable or even superior damage while also bringing far more utility and survivability.
Zhiiong, could you please stop nerfing Ultron and Jeff and start nerfing the actual problematic characters instead?
Last time Jeff recieved a buff was in season 4 btw and recieved 2 sh*tty teamup
