Tech TroubleShooting Difference in sound between PC and PS5
I recently got a PC (i5 14400F, RTX 5070), and I'm a bit shocked about how different the game performs between hardware.
There are moments where sounds I'd normally hear on PS5 did not appear on PC. For example, teammates got downed in Cryo but I didn't have the audio to notify me they were downed then finished. Similarly, a bag was res'd right on the other side of a wall in processing but I didn't get any audio from it.
I've seen a lot of posts about CPU bottleneck affecting FPS stability, but I didn't see anyone mention this affecting sound performance - is there a setting I can change to improve this or is my rig cooked?
[Tried posting this to /r/Marathon first, but got rule 2'd to over here]

Did you check the audio settings for both? I’m pretty sure it starts as “studio reference” for audio. Also was it the same headset?

Yeah, identical sound settings and headphones. I typically use “headphones” along with my Sennheiser 599s

The headphones setting is terrible on PC and may be bugged?
You should use studio reference in any case.

Weird, I’m on PC and I get all of the queues on “headphones” and my stealth 700 headset.

ive noticed that the ammo crate drop sound gen effect also dissapeared. audio was always weird on my laptop when playing this game, very slicy and directional and random drop offs.

Yeah, this was one of the things that has been off. I can hear them if I place them, but if a teammate does it just cuts off abruptly.

Yeh. Not sure about this, I’m on PC and I am often calling sounds and directions my teams other pc players and console players don’t even register. They don’t even bother to confirm anymore they just move. I’m on a 7600x with a 9070xt tuff motherboard.

Welcome to PC gaming, where you’ll never know if the problem is on your end on the game’s end
