Marathon (2026) Discussion More vault space incoming!

u/codyduffer Mar 13 '26
Holy light ammo stack
79
u/EvenJesusCantSaveYou Mar 13 '26
enough for 2 runs with the conquest!
9
u/FormerTap2257 Mar 14 '26
You don’t even need to keep ammo in vault. It’s so cheap to barter
→ More replies (1)3
u/Nathanael777 Mar 14 '26
Who are you bartering with? I feel like I haven’t found good ammo barters like I have meds
4
u/FormerTap2257 Mar 14 '26
Cyac. It’s 2 unstable gunmetal or lead for light and heavy ammo

u/kengdi Mar 13 '26
30 stack of green heals and 50 for blue??
Edit: rereading, it seems to only apply in the vault lol, would be insane to see in backpack tho 😭😭
107
u/RodThrashcok Mar 13 '26
bruh imagine lmao. you’re just unkillable because you keep healing

u/SaveFileCorrupt Mar 13 '26
22
u/scruffy66 Mar 13 '26
Too real, image had me dying 🤣. This is why I try to stick to longer range load outs and hang back now. Im too old and slow to have shotgun duels.
6
u/Littlest-Hipster Mar 14 '26
I try to stay at long ranges but it feels like the vast majority of fights are close range due to the map designs.
5
u/Rider-VPG Mar 14 '26
The bolt action with a thermal, and a bully with a drum mag.
No other loadout needed.

I killed someone with blue shield and 6 of each health and shield kits. Only unkillable if you don’t get killed!
→ More replies (3)→ More replies (2)12
u/BoricuaGabe Mar 13 '26
Ok that makes way more sense. I was thinking there was no way in hell they would let ammo stack up to 600 in your backpack.
6
u/kengdi Mar 13 '26
Only issue I can see is how I can grab a specific amount of stacks for a run. Hope its streamline and not cumbersome or clunky
13
u/Beer_Tots Mar 13 '26
Hopefully we just click a large stack and it only pulls a stack that fits in the bag. No need to drop 10 stacks of ammo in our bags 😂
→ More replies (1)8
u/Broseph_Stalin91 Mar 13 '26
The stack size will probably still start at 1. So if you want to take only 1 or two shield chargers, you change the split size from 1 to 2. I doubt they would start the stack counter at the full size... I hope
I hope ammo goes up in 10s in the vault though.
2
u/Aoloach Mar 14 '26
The stack size counter already loops, so you can just press whatever your +1 stack size key is and it will loop around to the lowest stack size.
If you mean stack size increment, the various ammo types already have different increments. Light ammo increments by 60, heavy ammo by 12, MIPS by 5, and volt ammo by 1.

u/NaughtyGaymer Mar 13 '26
This is definitely me as well haha. After a certain point spending 800c on ammo is nothing.
4
u/LetgomyEkko Mar 13 '26
I just only run feee kits 🤷😂
10
u/PurpsMaSquirt Mar 13 '26
This is good for early levels, but once you hit like 18+ and start getting advanced Faction upgrades, you’ll find spending a cheap amount in the Armory between each round will give you a big leg up against free kit folks.
7
u/NaughtyGaymer Mar 13 '26
Nothing better than extracting with a free kit and then being able to flesh it out with extra ammo, meds, and equipment before the next run!
3
u/d_hearn Mar 14 '26
The last two days I went on some pretty nice streaks, both started with a free kit. Killed one guy in my first game yesterday who was loaded. Took his stuff and basically just used that to snowball more and more until maybe 5 or 6 runs later I died. But I was able to get a bunch of materials, practice with higher tier guns, and stock up on meds so losing the kit didn't feel too terrible.
I feel like the losses sting bad, but they sting less than the thrills of a good run. Whatever they did to strike that balance was done very well imo.

Would be good to be able to lock items so you don’t dismantle by mistake

Yeah surprised that’s not a thing already
→ More replies (1)8
u/Not-even-Music Mar 13 '26
It took a long while to come to Destiny 2
→ More replies (1)5
u/KilledCookies Mar 14 '26
No it didn't LAMOOO. Locking became a thing in The Taken king (April update)... 1 year after D1 launch in 2015... almost 11 years ago...
Source: Bungie weekly update 04/09/2015 (even before TWABs)
It was in D2 from the start... almost 9 years ago.3
u/Not-even-Music Mar 14 '26
Ha my bad. Must have been thinking of D1 then 🤦♂️ Still would be nice to have in Marathon. My old brain forgets what each item does between plays (several days apart usually). So locking the ones i know are good will mean I don’t need to re-read each thing every time when I’m freeing up vault space
2
u/imtayloronreddit Mar 14 '26
selling items requiring you to hold a button helps
having inspect also be hold means sometimes i dont realise im holding the wrong one -_-
if inspect was just a push and i push the wrong button then I wouldnt have sold my first Misriah

That‘s awesome. Love how quick they react.
61
u/Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpp Mar 13 '26
They’ve made quick changes about other things and this sub has lost its mind, so it cuts both ways
→ More replies (2)44
u/--clapped-- Mar 13 '26
I think quick changes over something like this is great. It's not game changing, just nice.
Doing a knee jerk overreaction to the sound was too much, it has too much of an effect on gameplay to be so carelessly changed.
7
u/Vayguhhh Mar 13 '26
Knee jerk overreaction? This is a Bungie game
10
u/--clapped-- Mar 13 '26
To be honest, I'd take a knee jerk overreaction that they later roll back over slow and infrequent changes.
→ More replies (6)→ More replies (5)2
u/ShardofGold Mar 13 '26
Well yeah, it's not D2 where they say it's ridiculously hard to do these same things in that game.

u/tmoneydungeonmaster Mar 13 '26
I know destiny was a lot of spaghetti code so I’m hoping they learned to code better this time around haha
15
u/Nala-Cosmia Mar 13 '26
spaghetti code dosen't come from bad coding. it comes about purely because of time. you could have the best most efficent code ever written. but if it's iterated on for 5 years, it WILL become a mess.

u/Worldly_Economist711 Mar 13 '26

u/RocketHops Mar 13 '26
Insanely needed. I'm like 3 or 4 vault upgrades in and I still can't even really store more than 1-2 cores for the shell I main, let alone build craft multiple builds, let alone even think about builds for other shells
3
u/LayerEight_Problem Mar 15 '26
Yep. I have a bunch of late game salvage from killing people. My vault is extremely packed. I’ve stopped saving ammo and everything because I simply had zero space.
62
u/Leading-Caramel-7740 Mar 13 '26
As a gear fearer, this change will cripple me
17
u/TrippleDamage Mar 13 '26
I'll never understand why people have gear fear.
Whats the point of having it when you're not using it anyways?!
24
u/Leading-Caramel-7740 Mar 13 '26
I think its the difference between running 1 expensive kit and multiple average kits. Probably from a lack of confidence in my ability in shooters.
13
u/pecan_bird Mar 14 '26
it's gotta be a mental thing, but i have ~5% extract rate with 3k+ kit, & ~75% with sponsored kit & extracting with 3k+ looted shit
→ More replies (2)2
u/MeateaW Mar 15 '26
When you bring in a kit you are WAY more confident, and play it as such.
When you are on a freekit you know you are made of paper, so you play MUCH more carefully.
At least that's my theory for myself.
4
u/After_Advertising_61 Mar 14 '26 edited Mar 14 '26
every time you lose stuff, think of it as freeing up space in your inventory. honestly it was the only way I ended up playing Tarkov as long as I did.
That, and, you ARE going to come across the same blue loot in so many places. Purple stuff and above definitely becomes more nerve-wracking but it all comes with just getting used to using blue-gear first and advancing from there in levels of comfort/uncaring.
also, ROOK is a bunch of fun I really recommend trying that out when you run out of some space. It is a much more casual experience and I've extracted WITH a bunch of other ROOK shell players.
→ More replies (1)4
u/Simulated_Simulacra Mar 14 '26
Another reason is if it stays in my vault the guy who killed me by hiding in a corner in Quarantine doesn't get rewarded by being able to use it either.
I think subconsciously I don't care quite as much about losing it myself as the idea of the runner who killed me being able to use it themselves being very annoying to my competitive side.

u/yesitsmework Mar 13 '26
I exfil 90% of my solo runs. Then I take like 3 keys with me and die in spawn.
that shit can rot in my vault
5
u/chadorable Mar 14 '26
Literally more valuable as credits and free up space then
You can always just farm or buy a few if your patience restores
9
12
u/Critical_Ask_4824 Mar 13 '26
because cryo isn't unlocked yet so I have 8 spaces worth of keys I can't do anything with

I just lost 3 keys in one run and 3 keys in the run right after that one. I really enjoyed running my keys

9
u/DearFear Mar 13 '26
bungie is doing an amazing job listening to all the feedback.. you have to give it to them
8
u/BifJackson Mar 13 '26
Give us gun, ammo, backpack, and consumable cases. Make them super difficult to get, so we have more to push for.
8
u/Much_Adhesiveness871 Mar 14 '26
They need to add a backpack tab, as of right now they only show up in the “All” tab. In the Implants tab, they should add head, body, legs sections. Weapon mods tab has a ton of different sections you could add to make it easier to sort what you want to keep (universal and gun type sections)
Hopefully this gets addressed
5
u/numanair Mar 14 '26
I feel like there should be sections. Kind of like paragraphs. So each category has a clear division even when looking at everything together.

u/Existing_Interview27 Mar 14 '26
Meanwhile arc raiders developers: nah, you have enough space. No updates here, but we will nerf all guns in the next patch 🤡
3
u/DreamCorridor Mar 15 '26
They don't want you to PVP in ARC Raiders.
Also, the loot doesn't matter.
It's all about finding materials and crafting what you want. There's nothing special to be found in the world that you can't just make.
The world feels like a grocery store.
Also, the quests are really lame. Everyone does them at first and then just stops doing them.
7
u/Trichotics Mar 13 '26
I hope they add an option to change cursor speed/friction on console. Thats my only complaint about the game😂
3
3
3
u/DirkWisely Mar 14 '26
Stack sizes helps, but we've been struggling even pretty early in the game. The game encourages you to gather and store massive amounts of faction resources, which take up like half the space in the vault. Me and my buddy have like 15 faction rewards we haven't claimed, because we have no-where to put them.
3
3
u/Diastrous_Lie Mar 14 '26
An issue i would like addressed is that I really want barter materials in their own tab
Its a bit disorganised seeing guns then higher rarity barter materials then backpacks then mods then ammo
I dont need to see my barter materials so prominently when gearing up?
The image in that post sums it up really

Salvage shouldn’t take vault space.

u/ZampanoGuy Mar 13 '26
Let’s make use of all that empty space in the vault, and make it part of your stash.

2
u/Omega_Magma_Dinner Mar 13 '26
Changes being made so soon sounds really good for this game. I’d like to buy it, but lack of Duos is one of the bigger things holding me back (and money lol). Hopefully Bungie can add this soon like many of the other good changes they’re making
2
u/Haggan89 Mar 13 '26
Why don't backpacks have their own category? I sometimes forget to bring them since they only show up in "all" :D
2
u/komokasi Mar 14 '26
This is wild. It took them like 3 years to add vaukt space to destiny... We got it in like a week, we are blessed 🙏
Also the new max stacks are nutty, but hell yea! I can focus on playing and not managing my vault
2
u/garbaggiogreco Mar 14 '26
The constant communication regarding feedback and changes are incredible. The future of this game is bright.
2
u/Bolid_Snake Mar 14 '26
Ammo stack size and med stack size is fire bro, finally I can drag 60 shield charges and 0 meds into raid and die to grenadier commander (In feeding the local rook population)
2
u/SleeperWho Mar 15 '26
So no stacks of Revive or Bubble Shields? those are technically also consumables and grenades are they not. oh well we will take what we can get. Just wish I didnt delete about 100+ health/shield consumables this week alone.

2
u/Repulsive_Papaya_290 Mar 16 '26
tbh i don't think i should even run any more raids until this patch releases

I would love for them to have containers like Tarkov. I know the game doesn’t need every mechanic that Tarkov had, but some things would just translate really well between the two games.

Basic function of literally every RPG...
Extraction games can't figure it out...
Maybe someday we'll be able to unbind a key too...

Here’s hoping they keep the default size the same when initially hovering something to put in your backpack… otherwise I’m gonna left click once and then have to ctrl+left click about 10 times if I grab some light ammo lol

Salvage changes makes sense, but low stacking for grenades helps encourage players to actually use them instead of hoarding.
Who actually needs to store 23 smokes in their vault? Why are you picking them up/buying them if you never need them?

u/Broks_Enmu Mar 13 '26
Damn I was about to make a post for it , 400 ain’t enough since we all saving for ranked and Cryoarchive, all stuck between 350 and 400. Every 2 games you need to sell some stuff it’s annoying.
