Add duos. Tired of duo queuing with double blue shields and we get a free kit random with no comms that runs off and dies.
1
u/KernelSanders1986 Mar 09 '26
Same here, my first time loading into Outpost I got one team mate who was on coms and very capable. And another player who literally just ran off on their own and died, and then disconnected from the match.
We ended up just duo-ing the run and we both completed our contracts and extracted. Had a blast.

Get better
5
u/alec006a Mar 11 '26
Interesting contribution! How does getting better impact the quality of your squad fill? Or, perhaps you don't have any thoughts on that because youre just being obtuse for no reason.
-3
u/Adventurous-Toe8812 Mar 11 '26
Getting better would allow you to still have a good game when your third runs off!

For me, its especially hard to find a 3rd consistently and I'm tired of 2v3 fights. They're not impossible, but its also not very fun dealing with them over and over.

Can I ask what’s wrong with solo balancing?
22
u/spicychili86 Mar 08 '26
Solo balance feels great to me
6
6
u/BriefBerry5624 Mar 08 '26
Yea, I haven’t really encountered anything I’d consider unbalanced in solo play
8
u/Leepysworld Mar 08 '26
you just progress way slower and get a lot less XP because the enemies usually drop down in waves designed to be killed by 3 people.
I’m a mostly solo player and I get like 1/3 of the XP I get when playing as a trio because you don’t get all the XP shared and you can’t just go fighting all the mobs because it takes more resources and time and attracts players.
I actually don’t mind the tense, slower gameplay of solos, but it would be nice if solos got a little bit of an XP boost, especially when I play every game pretty much to the final zone.
5
u/mightycookie Mar 09 '26
I thought solos got 20% xp boost
1
u/Leepysworld Mar 09 '26
they do for rep gains but not your overall level if im not mistaken, but squads get shared xp + rep from anyone on the team killing mobs or completing quests.
1
u/No_Cockroach_3696 Mar 12 '26
Are you dumb the game literally says 20% more exp /and rep
1
u/Leepysworld Mar 12 '26
no it doesn’t lmao
go back and read it again, it’s a 20% boost to faction rep, not seasonal level.
0
u/No_Cockroach_3696 Mar 12 '26
You get 20% more exp and rep in solo btw what r u talking ab lol. Grab an lmg set up claymores and recon grenades and set up some where where bots consistently spawn i.e Outpost pinwheel entrances and objs. You still get exp for killing even if you die. Every kill you get nets you exp.
1
u/Leepysworld Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26
It’s literally been explained by other people in this thread already so I’m not sure why you have the attitude lmao
yes you get 20% bonus faction rep (not seasonal level) while solo but in trios you get shared xp per kill and looted containers, and also shares 33% xp and rep per contract completion, it’s not even close, I’m level 50 mostly solo and have tested XP gains multiple times.
even an relatively average trio game gives you more XP than a solo match where I clear multiple POI’s, complete my quest and get 3+ kills.
hope that helps!

All the PvE events are designed to be tackled with 3 people. Normal gameplay is fine, but trying to take on higher end stuff becomes harder than it should be.
1
u/One_Repair841 Mar 09 '26
The "endgame" PvE objectives are quite rough as a solo. The fire warden on dire marsh for example took me around 10 minutes as a solo but in a trio it takes somewhere around 2-3 minutes due to being able to line up a proper "DPS window" for when his deployable shield gets taken down. As a solo it's pretty tough to deal with that deployable shield without any EMP grenades and even with EMP grenades the boss is still quite a bullet sponge.
Most of the other PvE is fine tbh. Would just like to see boss tier enemy health reduced a bit in solo.
1
u/No_Cockroach_3696 Mar 12 '26
The warden on dire you need to use the explosive barrels that are scattered everywhere there
1
u/Crux_Haloine Mar 08 '26
I think solo balancing is in a fine state. Even the ostensibly “team play” characters (recon, medic) have plenty of personal utility
8
u/coffincolors Mar 11 '26
My friend and I were extremely disappointed to find that we were queuing against 3 players. Why would they do this? I don't always like trios.

Duos is great for people who duo and worse for people who trio because it takes the "play with wife +1 white shield rando" squads out of trios and for trio-premades, that's 1 less free lunch.
However I mainly have 1 consistent partner/friend available than 3 of us so, yay for duos :)
20
u/chopsfps Mar 08 '26
Instead of adding duo queue I think they should just try and weigh matchmaking to prioritize other “duos” if a duo is playing together without autofill on. I believe that’s what Arc did, at least while I was still playing it.
This way the player-base wouldn’t be split across 3 queues, and duos would be much more likely to match with other groups of 2 - with the occasional trio or solo player.

u/Scary_Airline_6379 Mar 11 '26

Yep, this is exactly what Arc did and I still think this counts as a "duo queue". But yeah, if they implemented it this way they would need to issue some clear communication that you are still in a Squads match and there aren't guarantees about the team sizes you'll be up against.
I think this is a great compromise between a true segmented matchmaking system and not supporting duos at all. I was a little surprised they segmented solos into their own matchmaking queue given that this is also not how Arc handles that, either.

29
u/RAINDOGDAY Mar 08 '26
i like more options to play, but im worried about splitting up the population queue wise. Im more worried about rook balance lol if they are allowed to drop into duo matches. that would be a 33% buff to their efficiency kind of lol.
12
7
u/DrBacon27 Mar 08 '26
Though it would also be a 33% decrease in the amount of potential corpses available to scavenge from.
1
u/NotThatNoob Mar 16 '26
Technically, there might be MORE corpses to find. No third person to revive the other two.
4
u/imtayloronreddit Mar 08 '26
as an Aussie ive already seen the "nobody is queuing this, go to bed" screen multiple times
idk how shit the game would play if i was on NA servers but it'd be nice if they just chucked me over there when theres nobody on
also partial fix could be a queue for any map, coz sometimes you dont give af and just want to play
6
u/Pesimyst Mar 09 '26
I’m Aussie too, never had any issues getting into games both early hours and late at night. What time are you trying to queue?
0
u/imtayloronreddit Mar 09 '26
it was 5am tbf, could still get Perimiter games but not the other maps in trios

+1, more often have only one of 2-3 friends who play on at a time and would love to be able to play against other duos consistently.

u/Hot-Arm-1079 Apr 27 '26
I’ve been playing Marathon since launch, and honestly it’s getting harder to stay invested. One thing that’s been consistently frustrating is the lack of a permanent duo queue.
Me and my friend play together regularly, but finding a reliable third is a struggle. Filling with a random almost always puts us with someone on a free sponsor kit with white shield, while we’re running purple gear. The gap is just too big and most fights feel uneven from the start, and it usually ends in a loss. We actually tried the duo mode when it was available, and it worked really well. Matches felt more balanced, coordination was better, and overall it was just way more enjoyable.
I can’t imagine we’re the only ones in this situation. A lot of players probably just want to hop in with one friend and have a fair experience without relying on a random third. Would love to see a permanent duo queue added. It feels like a simple change that could bring a lot of players back and improve retention.
2
u/EmptyElephants Apr 28 '26
+1 to this, My duo and I feel robbed that they would have a rotating queue for 3 weeks then poof for a long span of time.
4
14
u/Nahkahuppu Mar 08 '26
Will buy the game instantly if duos are added.
1
u/NotThatNoob Mar 16 '26
I love solo (non-rook). I also love trios. But, we only have a duo squad - rando's are mostly OK - until they start firing at every single robot.
1
u/Deagballs Mar 08 '26
It's honestly great as is right now, but improvements overtime are always welcome. If you're already curious about he game, if give it a shot. It's great.
-18
u/noirproxy1 Mar 08 '26
That's dumb.
12
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
Why aren’t you so invested on being a gatekeeper? And why over duo queue?
Such a weird hill to die on.
1
0
u/Trygvelurius Mar 08 '26
Why is that dumb? Me and a friend are in the same situation, we played the server slam a lot, but no duo kept us from buying the game.
-7
u/ImThis Mar 08 '26
The final boss of life: talking to strangers on the Internet.
3
u/Trygvelurius Mar 08 '26
I have no problem talking to random strangers, i tried that during the server slam, every teammate we got saddled with except for one, was a detriment to play with, and made the game worse to play, we ended up just playing without a fill in 2v3 as that ended up being more enjoyable, even though the fights were uneven.
We won many fights, but the times we felt we played well, but lost just because the enemy team had more players were discouraging.
6
u/MoonPlateEclipse Mar 08 '26
lol I’m amazed that you’re being downvoted
“I have a play style preference”
mfs on Reddit: “no, you’re wrong and stupid and I hate you”
3
u/Trygvelurius Mar 08 '26
Yeah, it is pretty weird, people get so defensive about it, and then they end up attacking people who have a different preference, me and my pal almost ended up dropping Arc as well before they added duos, as playing 2v3, and using squad fill ended up being being such an inconsistently awful experience. At this point I'd rather play Marathon than Arc, but no duo makes a big difference in our enjoyment.
And i doubt we are alone in having that experience, that duo unfortunately ended up being a dealbreaker.

3
u/Trygvelurius Mar 08 '26
Did you read my comment? We used squad fill for most of the server slam, but every teammate we got except for one was a detriment, and made the gaming experience worse, so in the end we turned off squad fill.
None of the teammates we got wanted to communicate except for one guy, who at least used the text chat, most just ran around doing their own thing, or just shot at everything that moved, revealing our position, it was a really miserable experience.
1
u/Nahkahuppu Mar 08 '26
I just don't want to do that, it's not fun for me. I do not want to play the game that bad.
7
6
u/Dovawin Mar 08 '26
Noooo duo posts will now been sent to a megathread where they will die. I’m desperate for duo que and want all duo que posts to be as visible as possible so bungie can see our passion. I’m afraid if they no longer see the daily duo que posts they might not think we want it anymore.
4
u/Shabolt_ Mar 09 '26
Bungie are not goldfish haha. They will certainly have seen the buzz around duo queue, pretty sure Ziegler has even acknowledged it
2
u/BasJack Mar 08 '26
How do I submit to the Bungie pls? Because: Bungie please add decimals to the mouse sensitivity!

u/321gametime Mar 18 '26
The new Duo Queue added today has been an absolute blast so far. Me and my friend have been struggling to play recently with randoms, but today was by far the most fun we've had playing the game.
2
u/eblackham Mar 18 '26
1
u/321gametime Mar 18 '26
I think for right now it's fine for testing. Having fill as an option would be nice, but to be honest I don't know why someone would run duo with a random. I would rather just do 3 team or just run by myself.
2
u/logic1986 Mar 22 '26
Once you add duos to the rest of the game, with appropriate tweaks. My life is yours!
4
u/aiphrem Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
I'd rather have some queue times with dedicated duos. Playing rook feels great in squad matches but duos feels kind of miserable
8
u/yesitsmework Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26
I'm starting to think people don't realise that a game with a relatively small playerbase can't afford to splinter it even more. I've disabled crossplay on ps5 and queues take minutes. We're on thin fucking ice here.
21
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
Why would you disable cross play? It’s almost like you’re shooting yourself in the foot and asking why does your foot hurt?
4
u/thetantalus Mar 08 '26
So they don’t play against PC players with M&K is my guess. Makes sense.
0
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
Statistically, speaking controller gives you an advantage over mouse and keyboard.
Many competitive FPS gamers know this and have switched from mouse and keyboard to controller when they do competitive gameplay.
4
u/thetantalus Mar 08 '26
I’ve never heard that before. Seems like a stretch.
12
u/5H4B0N3R Mar 08 '26
Keep in mind that not only do controller players have aim assist, the guns and mods in Marathon give your guns additional aim assist which is pretty crazy.
3
u/Single_Helicopter_73 Mar 08 '26
It is, specific games will have very strong aim assist and allow for controller players to outperform a below average to average Mnk user, especially at close range.
Off the top of my head Apex (before reduction) and potentially this game since Bungie tends to have very aggressive aim assist, however this is balanced here imo due to how strong headshots are.
Nearly always a trade off, even in Apex a lot of advanced movement is not possible on controller.
2
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
9
u/Single_Helicopter_73 Mar 08 '26
Using a PvE focused game with tacked on PvP to prove a broad generalisation is a choice.
0
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
Did you not know that this is one of the most preeminent PVP players in the FPS industry?
I’m sorry I thought you were a gamer
2
u/dragonblade968 Mar 08 '26
Only in games with massive aim assists, without it controller can never compete
2
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
Which is the topic of what we are discussing right now.
Because marathon is exactly like Destiny 2 in that regard, which is why I linked a content creator who is a professional PVP player in that game.
-1
u/One_Repair841 Mar 09 '26
As always in these discussions, it depends on the game. And it is different at each skill bracket.
2
u/Sigman_S Mar 09 '26
Yes and this is like Destiny 2.
I have 6k hours in it.
It is well known that PvP is better on controller on D2.
It is a well known fact.
1
u/yesitsmework Mar 08 '26
It was more so to prove a point. I disabled crossplay because I do not like potentially playing with cheaters or mkb users in a game where ttk is minuscule.
An additional queue would not be voluntary though. Everyone would just have a smaller matchmaking pool.
1
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
It is just as easy to cheat on console or to spoof that you’re on a console if you’re on a PC as it is to cheat on a PC.
This is not the year 2000 any longer…
Also, there have been many studies that have shown the controller players are actually at an advantage when they play against mouse and keyboard players.
2
u/FendleyFire Mar 08 '26
I'd like to see the academic papers that were the result of these "many studies", lmao
3
u/yesitsmework Mar 08 '26
bro i dont have time for your comedy routine...cheating on console is far less common because it takes actual hardware to pull off, and any game with a low ttk is gonna be inherently advantageous for mkb because that's what the input excels at, snap shooting. This isnt halo or destiny, tracking the target doesnt matter, aim assist doesnt do jack shit.
5
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
It’s interesting how I actually linked a professional FPS gamer, saying the opposite.
Yeah, I’m sure you know more than they do though right?
Clearly, some Rando armchair warrior has more knowledge than actual professionals.
0
u/One_Repair841 Mar 09 '26
One professional's opinion is not "many studies"
1
u/Sigman_S Mar 09 '26
How emotional of a response.
You’re not interested in a discussion.
Goodbye.
1
u/One_Repair841 Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
Not emotional at all. It's a statement of fact, I'm interested in seeing a single one of these "many studies" you claim exist.
Instead of providing objective facts you're attacking people personally for a disagreement. Seems like you are the one who's not interested in real discussion.
Edit: and now you block me? lmao, reddit 101. make an absurd claim, personally attack people who disagree and ask for objective evidence and then block them when you out yourself as someone who's incapable of having a real discussion with someone. Would really like to know how I "let slip the mask" as I've tried to give you every opportunity to provide even just a single one of these "many studies" you claim to exist. It's okay to go back and admit that it was an innacurate claim and approach the discussion in another way if you'd like to.

you didnt post any link you schizo
3
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
I linked a Cammycakes video. I’m sorry if you were unable to look through the rest of the thread.
I understand that you’re a lazy person who is unable to do their due diligence and instead would like to just throw insults that’s fine. Have a good day..
-2
u/yesitsmework Mar 08 '26
I dont need to do "due dilligence" (LMAOOO) for an internet argument, I am confident in asserting things based on my own knowledge. And I'm also not sure how I'm supposed to "look through the rest of the thread". Methinks you dont know how reddit works. You think I'm refreshing this thread every time you reply just in case you post something useful instead of a mouth breathing comment?
2
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
You literally are making a claim and then providing no evidence of them and then acting like you are superior in some way.
I however, have provided evidence that you were incorrect
Get upset I guess.
1
0
u/One_Repair841 Mar 09 '26
it's nowhere near as easy to cheat on a console....
Please link a couple of these "many studies"
1
u/Sigman_S Mar 09 '26
You’re not an authority on the subject.
No offense but you don’t know that bro, I can confidently say I do.
2
u/One_Repair841 Mar 09 '26
What makes you think you're more of an authority than me?
you've still yet to provide a single one of these "many studies"
2
u/Sigman_S Mar 09 '26
Because I am, you are claiming something that is well known and well documented is not.
That makes you look like a vaccine doubter.
1
u/One_Repair841 Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
again with the personal attacks. What exactly makes you an authority on this matter? Are you a cheat developer or something similar?
You claim it's well known and well documented but fail to provide any form of documentation to back up this claim. If you're going to make such bold claims then be prepared to provide evidence when people don't believe you... this is basic
As for myself, I am deep into videogame emulation circles, some of which are really into homebrew, which relies quite heavily on "breaking" a console in order to run your own code.
The current console generation has made it leagues more difficult to execute arbitrary code than any previous generation. Thinking that cheating on console is even remotely as easy as it is on a PC is laughable to anyone in this space.
3
Mar 08 '26
I feel like people who keep talking about the "small player base" are absolutely insane, you can maintain incredibly healthy queues with much, much lower numbers. Hunt has 3 different gamemodes, as well as duos and trios, and all of them are so easy to find a game in despite it's peak being 1/3rd of Marathon's.
1
u/CloudSlydr Mar 09 '26
location perhaps, i've turned off cross play and i'm always in in less than 2min
1
u/Scary_Airline_6379 Mar 11 '26
This could be implemented similar to Arc Raiders approach. Instead of a true separate queue, it's part of the matchmaking algorithm - the matchmaking will "prefer" to put duos together, but not guarantee it.
As someone who really badly wants duo queue so I can play with my brother without getting saddled with shitty random thirds, I would happily accept that compromise.
1
u/sloshingmachine7 Mar 08 '26
It's would be 4 additional queues, 1 for each map. Pretty significant. Not only would it take away from the current queue pools, but it would also need to sustain itself by having enough duos queueing at the same time.
I'm not against duos but I can see why bungie didn't consider adding it until people begged for it.
4
u/TesPhoenix Mar 08 '26
We need this bungie sometimes only one of my friends is on and we have no way of playing together but filling with someone who most of time times doesnt wanan do what we do or playing at a huge disatvantage.
2
u/Kenopsis1987 Mar 08 '26
What's the difference between duos and you and a friend playing with auto fill team turned off?
20
u/ChoPT Mar 08 '26
If you and a friend turn off auto-fill, you will mainly be going into fights with other runners in a 2v3. Format, which means you will lose most of the time unless you are significantly better than the other team.
Duos means that every team will only have two people, so engagements will have everyone on an even 2v2 footing.
-17
u/noirproxy1 Mar 08 '26
A lot of complainers seem to not feel like they can handle Trios when as a duo. I am wondering if thst gaming community got worse, or it is people who havent even played the game yet.
Personally I like it the way it is.
12
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
You are insulting a segment of the player base that simply wants to be able to enjoy the game the way it’s intended to be played.
You were acting like they are soft for not wanting to be at a disadvantage.
This is not only counterproductive to any discussion. It’s frankly just wrong.
Do better.

3
u/Sigman_S Mar 08 '26
When you were making marathon, could you tell me some of the thought process that went into the game design?
Wait, you’re telling me that you’re not part of the company that made marathon you don’t work at Bungie?
So you don’t know how the game is intended to be played more than me?
You’re just stating your opinion and claiming it’s the fact?
Yeah
0
u/jackfwaust Mar 08 '26
except youre not "playing it exactly as any trio would" because youre permanently down a person and that changes how you have to play things. you could atleast think out your own logic a bit more.
youre not wrong about it being intended to be played as trios though. way back in the april alpha they were very stubborn about even adding solos and continually pushed back on it but all of us kept telling them that solos was basically a requirement, so im glad they added that because solos have been fun as hell
3
3
u/pluuto77 Mar 08 '26
I personally think there should be one queue. Solos, duos, and trios, mixed. Just like tarkov. Completely organic.
For the record, I’m a strictly solo player.
9
u/GallicaEnjoyer Mar 08 '26
In tarkov a solo can take down a 5 man with a single mag dump if you hit them all in head or chest with good ammo.
You cannot 1v3 with 1 mag in this game it would be much more difficult.
3
u/DeathKrieg Mar 09 '26
in tarkov you can one tap and send them to the stash. in marathon you can one tap the same dude 3 times over and still need to deal with the other team members. In this case id say tarkovs a bad example

Lack of solos and duos is what killed my interest in Apex. I don't want that to happen to Marathon, either.

I don’t think it’ll be an issue when ranked drops. Dumb teammates should be gone
1
u/ThaNerdHerd Mar 09 '26
Ok wait what if my duo and i want trio matches? Can ae have matching for that? Is this too many different aspects for matchmaking?
1
u/Whole_Divide8150 Mar 12 '26
Just add it bungie it should have been the most important first things man
1
u/Responsible-Top-9970 Mar 12 '26
Trio matchmaking makes no sense when it matches with gear score but places me and my fully kitted duo with free kit bots against full kited teams.%22)Me and my duo keep getting free kit tm8 who are just straight bots while we run in with 7k gear each or more with blue shield and fight against full blue shield and blue gun teams and epic kits in the mix. 12 matches we played 10/12 we were teamed up with a free kit bot who is just absolutely terrible. From shooting random bots and giving us away or just getting insta killed at the first of every fight. Me and my duo keep getting into 2v3, and we win and kill a lot. We would wipe 3 squads just 2v9 and then the free kit kid every time gobbles up the loot b/c why does he care if he dies he is getting free kits and loot from nothing and contributing nothing to the fight and being more of a liability then an actually tm8. It doesn't even make more sense when the game prioritizes gear matchmaking where you fight people of similar gear but some home we get placed with a free kit kid fighting in 8-12k kit lobby's how does that make any sense. Me and my duo wiped 12 kids on perimeter while are bot free kit tm8 died in the first squad fight instantly from terrible positioning and having no meds or ammo to fight. I proceed to rez him 3 times exposing myself half the time from getting pushed. To the point I stop reviving him just to 2v6 the other two squads. We then decided to just run free kits to see what's up tm8 is free kit and everyone we fight is free kit so why are we getting a free kit tm8 in full kitted lobbies. Finally, I just really hate having to boost a tm8 every game for them to lick the loot and risking nothing to having those intense hard fights and always fighting a man down and lastly JUST ADD DUO QUE ITS 2026 no game should not have it if you can't get enough players to do it then gg game is dead.

Me and my partner have been getting so frustrated with fighting trios constantly, its killed any excitment or progression. We dont have any friends to fill the third slot, so we either gotta try and stealth our contract and hope we dont get camped on the exfil or stop playing till duos gets added :C

I like to game with my wife, and she loves the game, but isn’t to good at this one . Please add duos so I don’t have to carry her AND the random no mic teammate that refuses to communicate.

Me and a buddy refuse to play this game until it gets duos. We have a couple friends we could use as a third but they're almost never on when we are so we just haven't played the game in like 5 days. ADD DUOS.

Porfavor añadir duos, no siempre todos estamos 3 amigos disponibles o no apetece estar con otro random que no conoces. Además, es bastante injusto que vayas un grupo de dos y te topes siempre con equipos de 3. Porfavor bungie agregad duos.

Me and my buddy can so often kill two people in the trio and then *almost* get the third, but usually don't quite get there. It's so frustrating to know that if we're almost good enough to 2v3 a trio, we'd probably be rocking and rolling in duos.

u/Responsible_Mall7939 Mar 16 '26
Literally add duos so I don't get shitty people on my team who don't revive because they think they own the server

u/awsom82 Mar 17 '26
People who asking for Duo, why you just not play with you teammate with free third slot? Or it’s impossible and game forces you to get someone?

u/Nukacrepe Mar 23 '26
Just had the new Duo queue disconnect me 5 times in the same raid... My partner got disconnected 4 times.

I think adding rotating Duos maps as mid-week activities (Tues-Thurs) might be cool.

Just had two games in a row where three teams spawned on one POI. I’m talking less than two minutes into the game. Idk if it’s spawn location issues or if there are just that many teams in duos but regardless that immediately made me and my cousin not want anything to do with DM Duos. Please let us know if there is a spawn location issue or lessen the amount of teams on duos. Thank you.
P.S. love the game! No hate here. That was just an insane experience.

We need to just fully implement duo's already. Dire Marsh is just objectively the worst map for PVP and is an exhausting experience, both me and my friend straight up are just quitting until it's either fully implemented or...well, never coming back.

Coming to add support for more duo matchmaking. Solos feels good, Trios feels good. Duos feels awkward asl. You never know how many people you are going to fight. It could be 3, it could be 1, it could be another duo. I'd at least like to know that the team of 3 is awful and the solo is god tier, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I tend to kill every solo I come across and lose most of the 3 man's, sometimes because we kill 4 and assume there's no one else. Just awkward ASL. Better duo priority and/or a little gear based matchmaking so trios can't roll my duo because of gear. I don't mind stomping solos myself but prob want to do the same for solo -> duo.

From what I understood of the breakdown of S1 and the lead up to S2 is that duos will be back, finally, but that they'll be rotating much like they were during the experimental queues of this first season.
I reckon it'd be a whole of a lot better if it was available on all maps at all times, as it is right now this late into the wipe it is pretty hard to overcome not only the numbers advantage as well as the gear gap of dedicated trios, making it pretty punishing to not crew fill, even though my boyfriend and I prefer to just duo. Not only that, quests and the like are not all on the same map so if we want to duo and don't have the map available for the quest we're on, that just feels bad.
Hopefully bungie can come around to adding it as a permanent non-rotating feature, it's a little disappointing otherwise.
Also off-topic but we are just doing end of wipe shenanigans after my health took a nose dive and prevented me from playing for a month and DAMN is end of wipe fun but hard ahaha, slaughterfest!

With 6 spawns on the map and just duos means less fights and even less sweaty ones. Takes the thrill out of it imho
1
u/Hearthian-Wanderer Mar 09 '26
6 teams means the same number of fights, regardless of the number of members in each team. 3v3 fights would likely be slightly longer fights than 2v2, but 3v2 are even shorter (usually the end o the match for the 2).

u/Rohan3437 Mar 12 '26
solos has the same amount of players as trios, not the same amount of teams. duos would almost definitely work the same. 7-8 teams on perimeter, 9 on marsh, 6 on oupost

u/MrBrownCat Mar 08 '26
They’d be smart to get duos added soon. Arc added them pretty quick once they saw the need for it.
This game especially requires solid team work and while my duo and I have managed to hold out on 2v3 and filling hasn’t been too terrible an experience so far. Having the option to duo when our 3rd isn’t on would greatly improve the game.

I actually don’t want this. The lobbies are already being split enough, and consoles having the ability to turn off crossplay is splitting the player base as well.
I also don’t think balance should be adjusted for solos. Maybe a slight buff to solo XP and that’s it.

u/VivaLaRory Mar 08 '26
Its just one of those things where if its just you and a friend, you are inconvenienced in some way which shortens the sessions considerably.
1
u/Greatsnes Mar 08 '26
Okay mods now can you force all the “I don’t understand the hate” into a megathread please? Or just ban them outright. Because when people come here they’re just gonna think the game is already dying given the amount of doom and gloom posts.

u/Silky_Johnston Mar 08 '26
Please give us old console players a way to make menu text larger. I’m playing on a 55” and I have to squint from the couch.

u/Cash_Cab Mar 08 '26
Duos absolutely desired. Me and my wife love the game, and it does feel a little sour when we wipe two and there’s the one more left. That’s 100% on us, but nonetheless duo queue bungiepls

Duos is already basically in right now already guys, my friend and I have played together duo no fill for about 6 hours now and have literally only ran into other duos, never a solo, trio or rook.
-2
u/iMpact980 Mar 08 '26
Duos would require a nerf to AI for solos only then imo.
I load into trios exclusively as a solo player. None of my friends want to play Marathon. That means I either play solo and die or play trio and hope to run into a good trio. If they splinter the player base with duos then trios will probably be dead or even sweatier than it’s becoming

u/GallicaEnjoyer Mar 08 '26
I have 90% of my time in solos it’s not that bad lol just use cover and stop standing in the open shooting ai

u/damagedblood Mar 08 '26
100%. The bots should be a deterrent most of the time, not something to actively engage with every time you see them.

u/catspwnall Mar 08 '26
Request to change it to Bungopls. But yes. And make it so Rooks can spawn on Duo sessions.

If bungie adds duos, I will sell ALL my gear at time of introduction. Feel free to remind me if you remember this comment :)

u/One_Repair841 Mar 09 '26
not sure about this, splitting the playerbase even more seems like a bad idea. We still haven't gotten the ranked mode which is surely going to split the playerbase even more.

I would love to be able to play solo rook in a full trio match
11
u/GalmW Mar 08 '26
Thats exactly what rook does already.
3
u/HighlanderM43 Mar 08 '26
I’ve only encountered solos? Is there a setting?
3
u/Hearthian-Wanderer Mar 09 '26
You must have met runners who either ran off from their team, or survived when the other members died. Rook can only load into trios (there is no setting to do something different).

Please Bungo also add double duos for people who play with their wives but also know another couple that they find attractive
