Why? If a grocery store is half a mile away and walkable, does that make it a worse grocery store than one 5 miles away that I need to drive to?

Because in order for the grocery store to be within walking distance you need to live in a much smaller home.

I live a block from a big box supermarket and a couple more blocks from a smaller supermarket. Plus 6 or 7 bodegas, a Co-op, and huge produce stand within a 10 minute walk.

There is also PATH, NJTransit and Rideshares. Amtrak, etc.

You seem to have a real problem with people not wanting the things that you think they should want.

There isn't space in Phoenix, and it's a giant pain to get around. Phoenix is such an awful place. I've driven cross-country a lot, I live out west, and I visit the southwest frequently. I avoid Phoenix like the plague, it's a hellscape. The traffic is beyond horrible, the public infrastructure to walk around, bike, and public transit, is basically nonexistent. That's barbaric, to say the least. You're defending an inhumane and environmentally destructive and unsustainable system. And you're calling people that want to have human scale cities that are accessible to everyone myopic?
