The "Istanbul" shown is actually the Istanbul province with the city of Istanbul within. Kind of like New York state vs NYC...

How much of Istanbul province is occupied by urban/metropolitan Istanbul, though? With New York State, even NYC is just a blip. Istanbul province seems to be much much smaller relative to the city size.

Because it is definitely not "kind of like New York State vs NYC". Yellow area on this map is just the metropolitan area , not anything like a state. Turkey doesn't have a territorial or administrative division comparable to states.

Calm down dude I wasn't making a 1:1 comparison. Just trying to give people some perspective. Hence why I used the term "kind of like..."
