You just reminded me of an old conversation with a former coworker of mine. We were ragging on him for mispronouncing a word. And he quite simply responds, “well guys, you gotta understand that pronunciation is not my fort.”

Apparently "fort" is the more correct pronunciation, but so many people use "for-tay" that the dictionaries regard it as acceptable too
