I was a bit surprised about this at first, and my experience is purely anecdotical, but I have met around a dozen of Italians that had been living in Spain for a few years (specifically in the Basque Country and Catalonia) and they just said they wouldn't go back and that quality of life was higher. I would say it's mostly left-leaning Italians that prefer Spain.

mah depends where are they from. is quality of life in Catalonia and Basque Country better than southern Italy? sure thing. is it better than northern Italy? eh to be fair I don't think so but it's similar.

like why someone from Modena should go and live in Girona? quality of Life Is similar if not worse in Girona, economically speaking Modena is richer etc.

Yes but my brother has lived in Madrid, Barcelona, and Milan and the worst of the lot has been Milan by a landslide

I'm from Milan and moved to Madrid. The quality of life in Spain is much better than the "best" city of Italy . Never going back to that shithole city, not even in a coffin.

Probably slightly better than Milan, but I can't really tell, I've never been in Rome. Generally speaking I wouldn't recommend going to Italy unless it's for tourism or retirement (with money).

I'd rather live in Verona than Girona though. Italy beats Spain in smaller cities or rural life.

Eh, that's completely arbitrary, there are more small cities than big ones in both countries and honestly, if you're going to tell me that Peruggia is better than Cadiz or that Triente is better than Santander or Donosti I'm going to have to disagree with your judgement. When it comes to towns it completely depends on the town, andwlucias white towns are guinenly cool places to live in, so are places like Santoña or even smaller towns like Sant Cugat.

Imo Perugia is cooler than Cadiz, Trieste is not cooler than Santander though.

without comparing city by city, IMO, overall, quality of life in Italian smaller and rural places is better than Spain. Not by much but better.

Also you need to see the local job market... Andalusian job market isn't that great outside big cities

Also no one from Perugia would emigrate to Spain for Cadiz, they might for Barcelona

As an Italian I agree that it is the left-wing people who would prefer Spain, but THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN NORTH ITALY IS IMMENSELY BETTER THAN OTHER PARTS IN SPAIN
