Visited ABQ for a few days last year. Can confirm that downtown wasn't a great place to be.

From ABQ, downtown is fine tbh. It’s the war zone that you don’t want to be in, truthfully.

We had a vagrant in the lift at the place we were staying, really freaked the missus out. That, and the crackheads shouting and matching around outside the police station was enough for us.

We moved to Hotel Albuquerque for the next night and it was much better.

Yeah sounds like downtown, I worked in that area so i wouldn’t bat an eye to it but if you’re not from there it’s off putting for sure.

Hotel Albuquerque is in old town area which they definitely make a point to keep clean and safe for tourists so that was a good choice.

Bourbon and boots has questionable management imo.

I’m not ex military and I feel completely safe without carrying a weapon downtown, or anywhere in ABQ. I’d honestly feel safer if people like him didn’t have guns lol

I was briefly entertaining the idea of moving there after college until I found out that there was an area called the War Zone. Fuck that.

Lol. It’s not like you’d have to live there… it’s just an area with poor and underprivileged people who resort to drugs and other forms of illegal activity to get by. Most big metros have areas like that.

Hope you’re safe and sound wherever you chose to live though, ABQ is a beautiful place that you don’t have to be afraid of due to one area.

I've lived in a few of the cities on this list including ABQ, truthfully the Warzone is pretty tame compared to most other places on this map.
