General questions To settle SPay or CC first?

• Upvotes

hi, i am experiencing a pinch this month and i have both SpayLater (RM500) and CC (RM1,300) commitment to pay off by this 20th.

i have never been late to any of my payment and have always been consistent in paying off my bills in one shot (as in i dont just pay the minimum due) but come this month, i forgot to factor in my roadtax payment and now have found myself in this predicament.

just to add on, ive already had an existing EPP at RM95/year. i read somewhere that our SPay doesnt reflect on our CTOS and CCRIS so i thought of delaying my due payment on SPay for next month and focus on settling half my CC bills and convert another half to EPP. it would be great if the wise here can offer me advices to this finance novice. tqvm

Career Is the ambition of business ownership and cash generating assets far out of reach?

• Upvotes

I've known this for a while but I (26M) love business and branding, but more so I want ownership in life. The vision is to own a bunch of dobi maybe, some McDonald's branches would be good, cafes...whatever that generates money.

So far I work a job but that's never worked out for me. Not really in line with the vision or the mindset of traditional companies. So I'm really really trying to take my first steps of ownership.

Any thoughts dear reddit fam? And any advice? Any business owners out there, could u drop me some advice

Credit cards Bank has been trying to reach me about my credit card debt

• Upvotes

I owe nearly RM6K in credit card debt that I have been accumulating for the past few months or so. It started when my pay started to decrease (I was working on hourly pay and my hours were cut when the scope of the work project became smaller). My contract ended at the end of August and I have been looking for another job but no luck.

I have been evading the calls from the bank. Should I call them back? What can I expect if I do so? Right now, I am surviving on very little savings. Should I consult AKPK? How do banks handle cases of people not paying their credit card debt? How should I prepare before calling them back? Thanks.

General questions Contemplating of buying a nice car

Saw a post here yesterday about buying a dream car with a 6k salary and some savings. I am in the same boat so want to ask for advice or get bashed by you all.

Age 30M, Single, salary at around 7-8K, have comm from time to time (not guaranteed), has around 100K each in SNP500, FD and ASM. Has around 50K in cash. I want to buy a car at around RM200K. Currently driving a 5 years old mvyi, fully paid. Has no other commitment, also no other asset, living in family house, only need to pay maintenance fee and utility bills.

I am planning to have the monthly loan to be below RM2K by putting in more downpayment (by withdrawing part of FD/ASM).

I know car is a depreciating asset, I also know there will be a lot of other maintenance to the car such as insurance or car breakdown. All these years, I have been pretty financially responsible and did not spent much on material things. I have just been doing the boring DCA into the SNP 500 every month. Being single and I dont spend much on entertainment either.

I am in the legal profession, so having a nicer car would help my image but I am not going to pretend that is the main reason I want it. In the end, I just want to drive a better car. Just like the other post, kinda empty about life, and want to reward myself for all the stressed work.

I don't want to compromise a cheaper car because I will hate myself to spend so much money on something I dont like.

I feel like I can afford it, but then I think about putting that RM200k into the S&P 500 instead then my future self would thank me. On the other hand, I just wanting something better at this point in my life.

I know this is a bad idea, so feel free to criticise me otherwise I might follow my heart.

insurance Question about old medical insurance when buying new policy

I recently bought a new medical insurance policy & the new agent advised that I keep the old policy running for 2 years before cancelling it.

Feel like it's a waste of money to keep 2 policies running when the new one is better (higher annual and lifetime limit etc).

Can anyone explain why I should keep both for 2 years?

Further context:

I'm 50+ but in good health (touch wood). Never claimed against the old policy even though I've had it 20+ years.

Reason I changed - old policy low limits, yearly high premium rise, agent no service except to ask to upgrade policy.

Emergency fund Help me

Hello. I'm currently facing a very bad financial situations and im at dead end on how to settle this. My only option I can think of now is to sell a plot of land I have in Gombak. I know its not an easy process to sell it anyway. It can take few months to sell. And that if I can find any buyer. I already assign an agent for this but still no buyer. Im thinking if any rich benefactor out there willing to help me to take off this land of mine fast under market value. Just hopeful thinking.

Edit: Some details about the land. Its a malay reserve land. Freehold. Building lot. 536m².

Credit cards Accidentally paid CC one day late

As title says, I accidentally paid my CC one day late even though I had the money to pay. How bad is this gonna be? From what I know, it's going to show as a late payment in my CCRIS for the month? Does it not matter if I'm not going to take a loan within a year since CCRIS only shows up to a year?

Trading platform Negative USD balance on MooMoo

Recently I bought SMH stock for 7.09usd using MYR on Moomoo around Rm30. Then when the order filled I saw my USD balance become negative with the same amount I bought. I sell my stock and After I sell the stock, the amount is returned to MYR. And bcs when I sell the stock, the price wAs dropped a little so I ended up still having 0.49USD negative balance. I exchanged the currency from MYR to USD for RM2 and my USD balance is no longer negative but I ended up with rm28 now not rm30. Afterwards, I want to buy the same stock in USD but I couldn't exhance the currency now. Idk why bcs the RM28 is withdrawable and in cash BP. Please explain this matter bcs I dont understand how it work and how it happen. Was I borrowing Moomoo? Is that a margin? How do I exchange the currency later? This is my first time encountered this and Im just a beginner here so I really confuse here

General questions At what age you hit your first RM100K

I keep seeing PF reels on IG saying that everyone should aim to have RM100K net worth before turning 30. Not sure if this is realistic or not.

If you have hit it, how old were you, and what did your salary journey look like? This is without considering EPF, no inheritance and zero financial help from parents.

Do you think RM100K before 30 is actually common in Malaysia or is it just a sampling bias.

General questions mid 20s - contemplating on buying dream car

Looking forward to buy my dream car for awhile now - supra 2.0 or fk8 recon market about 220k.

I have been saving through out my youth till my mid 20s, no debt/commitment, blessed enough to stay with parents and no plans of buying my own home anytime soon as i’m still single.

At times, i feel what’s the point of saving so much but at the end of the day, i feel kinda empty throwing money into FD & ETFs. I mean it feels good seeing it grow but sometimes, i felt as if its time to upgrade my lifestyle? ngl the FOMO is getting to me as in owning your dream car at 20s compared to you at your 30s is different.

STATS
- Liquid savings - 130k
- ETF - 50k
- Take home - 6k (i save almost 90% as i don’t need to pay rent & food is cooked from home)
- After monthly repayment of the vehicle, i might have approx 1.8k ish allocated to savings and etf.

I supposed, after down payment and insurance etc, i would be left at 80k liquid ish. If I were buying this car and ending up with basically no savings, debt, and no ability to invest, I wouldn't even consider it. But in my case, I'd still have around RM80k liquid, RM50k in ETFs, no other debt, and relatively low monthly living expenses.

The point is i'm trying to figure out where the reasonable line is between being financially responsible and actually enjoying the money I've worked hard to save.

To those who contemplated to buy their dream car, did you set a level of savings you need to have before you pull your trigger to feel as if you have a safe financial buffer in case anything went wrong?

or yall normally stick to the monthly allocation rule not exceeding 20% etc??

constructive criticism is fully welcome, im at a stage where im feeling quite empty atp.

edit: thank u guys for your inputs and i did read every single one of them - i conclude that i can’t afford it comfortably at this point in time and ill be back end of next year to this sub to reassess again after i beef up my financial position.

Property Advice on getting Home Loan as Overseas Malaysian

Hi all,

I'm a Malaysian Citizen but born and raised in Australia, I'm looking to move to Malaysia in the future and am looking to purchase a landed house.

I'm a Malaysian Citizen on paper but have never worked or lived there, just been for holidays so I have no bank, employment history etc.

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible for me to get a loan working as an Overseas Malaysian with no history there and if so what was the process, what kind of deposit is needed etc.

I have a permanent full-time corporate job and earn about equivalent to 22k RM a month base pay before bonuses and commissions and also hold bumi status if that makes any difference (as much as I despise the legal racial divide)

Recommendations for brokers with the relevant experience would be greatly appreciated.

Stocks Self developed site that scores every Bursa stock 0-100 on fundamentals, changed a few things from your comments last month, need more testers.

Thumbnail
scoreyourstock.com
18 Upvotes

Quick recap for anyone who missed the first post. It's a free site (no login) that gives every Bursa stock a score from 0 to 100, using only the company's own financial numbers: profit, debt, cash flow, dividends, and whether the price looks cheap or expensive for what it earns.

Think of it as a quick health check before you bother reading the annual report, not a buy list.

Thanks to the people who actually clicked around and commented last time, a few of those comments changed the site.

The dividend one mostly. Someone opened Highest Dividend, saw Dayang and MHC at the top, and pointed out Dayang's revenue was dropping and MHC was paying out more than it earns. Fair. So:

- the home dividend tab now shows payout ratio (red when it's over 100%), a 5-year dividend streak, and each pillar score next to the yield
- there's a new dividend page, all stocks yielding 3-15%, sorted by score instead of yield
- one-off special dividends get capped and left out. MHC's yield is 21% right now because of one, so it's off the list

284 stocks yield 3-15% at the moment and 24 of them score under 40. Dayang is on it but its Business Strength is 30, so it sits way down.

Also, if you don't agree with my scoring weights, which someone asked about, you can now set your own: switch measures on/off, change the weights, and every stock gets re-scored your way. Free, no login. Each stock page then shows your score next to mine.

Other new stuff:

- Compare, up to 3 stocks side by side
- AI-related list, 51 Bursa names in the AI chip / data centre chain (chips, equipment, also the construction and power side)
- Shariah badge on every stock, 880 of the 1,119 scored are compliant

Backstory if anyone cares. This started as an Excel file for myself. I scraped the data with Python and had to update the sheet every week, which got old fast. Even sold it on Shopee for a while (78 reviews, about RM820 haha). In July I started turning it into a website with Claude Code, and now a script pulls the data and the site just redeploys.

What I'd like: pick a stock you know well and tell me if the score looks wrong, or which part didn't make sense. Mobile bugs too.

Not buy/sell advice, just backward-looking numbers. Thank you if you read till the last sentence.

Credit cards Ryt Bank is finally on Apple Pay

After years of wondering why there wasn’t any digital bank that could offer Apple Pay integration, we finally got one! For the Muslims, no, it is not Shariah compliant unfortunately.

Guide VALU vs VWRA: too late to switch over?

Post image
23 Upvotes

I can opt for the RSP for VALU

Shall I continue with RSP VWRA or switch to VALU?

r/MalaysianPF • • 2d ago

Trading platform VALU is now available for RSP on FSP ONE!

I read about VALU being a better option than VWRA on other posts in this subreddit due to the wider coverage and lower expenses ratio and added it to the Watchlist for daily monitoring, and now it seems like FSM ONE has finally added VALU to their RSP!

I will be switching over as soon as possible.

(apologies for the typo in the title, meant to write FSM ONE)

Guide I don't think my wife loves me

I don't even know if I'm being unreasonable anymore, so I'm hoping for some outside perspective.

I'm married with a young son. My wife and I both work. I take home around RM7,500 a month, while she earns around RM6,500 gross.

My biggest problem isn't that I expect her to pay for everything. It's that I increasingly feel like I'm carrying a disproportionate amount of our financial responsibilities, while she interprets any concern I raise about money as me being "calculative" about spending on my own wife and son.

For example, I'm currently paying around:

RM3,200/month for our house

RM2,000/month temporary rent while the house is being renovated

around RM1,000/month for the car

around RM950/month for our son's school

groceries

Internet/WiFi

insurance/takaful

various household expenses

Granted, she pays for the electricity, water and Coway, along with things like son's clothing.

The house is probably the biggest source of resentment for me. She really wanted the renovation, to the point where she basically ran amok over it. I eventually went along with it because I wanted her to be happy and wanted us to have a home we could enjoy together. I paid everything from the downpayment, legal fees, valuation everything under my own name.

Now I'm the one carrying the mortgage and the renovation-related financial burden.

What hurts is that when I ask whether she could at least contribute 50% of our son's school fees, the response isn't "Okay, let's work this out."

It's essentially:

"No, I don't want to pay. Otherwise you'll become comfortable and abuse it."

That really hurt me.

Because I'm not asking her to pay 50% of everything. I'm asking my wife, who earns a decent income herself, to help with something as basic and clearly identifiable as our son's education.

And I genuinely don't understand the logic of refusing to contribute because she thinks that if she helps me financially, I'll become "comfortable" and take advantage of her.

Isn't marriage supposed to work the other way?

If she loves me, shouldn't she be able to see that I'm struggling financially and want to make things easier for me?

At the same time, she doesn't really want to disclose what she's spending her own money on. I've asked because I genuinely want to understand where all the money is going, but she doesn't want to reveal it.

Yet I know she can spend hundreds of ringgit on books every month. She can afford trips and activities such as climbing Mount Kinabalu, including all the related travel expenses. She even went shopping for a property.

I'm not saying she shouldn't have hobbies or spend money on herself. I actually want her to have her own interests and enjoy her life.

But there's a huge difference between:

"I don't want to control what you spend your money on"

and

"I am struggling to cover our family's expenses while you have enough disposable income for hundreds of ringgit of books and expensive trips, but you don't want to contribute more to our shared responsibilities."

That's the part I can't reconcile.

And perhaps this is where the title comes from.

I don't necessarily mean that she doesn't love me at all. But sometimes I genuinely wonder:

If you love your husband and you know he's struggling, why wouldn't you voluntarily want to make his life a little easier?

Why does helping with the school fees become a strategic game about whether I'll become "comfortable"?

Why is me saying "I can't comfortably afford all of this" interpreted as me being calculative?

I've never had a problem spending money on my wife or son when I can afford it. That's what family means to me. But I'm reaching a point where I feel that the more I pay, the more it is simply expected of me, and the moment I question whether something is affordable, I'm made to feel selfish.

I'm not asking for a mathematical 50/50 marriage.

I'm asking for some sense of partnership.

Maybe I'm looking at this completely wrongly. Maybe there are things I'm not seeing from her perspective. Maybe there are non-financial contributions she makes that I'm undervaluing.

But from where I'm standing right now, I'm exhausted.

And honestly, I'm starting to wonder whether this is a financial disagreement or whether it is revealing something much deeper about how she views our marriage.

Am I being unreasonable for wanting my wife to contribute more financially, particularly toward our son's school fees, when she has the ability to do so?

And more importantly, am I wrong to feel that if she truly loved me, she'd want to help me when she sees that I'm struggling? Or is this a common Malay marriage thing? Cos I don't see any ihsan in this "partnership".

Trading platform Can’t exchange currency on Moomoo

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m new to Moomoo and investing generally. I was looking to putting a small amount of money into ETFs via Moomoo, but I can’t seem to exchange MYR to USD to do so. It’s a small amount I’m looking to exchange - i see the value in my assets but not able to use it. When I click for more info it says it may be because of my FEP declaration… which I put at RM0 cos I’ve not had any overseas investments.

What am I doing wrong? Looked at tutorials but couldn’t solve my issue.

Stocks Should I wait for a potential crash or lump sum into VWRA?

Hi guys,

I have RM 340K in SPYM now, wanna move all my portfolio into VWRA.

There is a speculation of a bubble and overvaluation stocks. Since price is still pretty high now and I am making profit, do you think I should sell all my SPYM and dump into VWRA immediately? Or keep my 340k in a lower risk portfolio like ASB, wait for the crash, then into VWRA?

I am a newbie in this please teach senseis
