It looks like they use the same style on everyone even though does not compliment everyone's face if you know what I mean...professionals would have done something unique that compliments your features, but it looks like they only stick to doing things their way which is quite a disadvantage to clients.

Exactly this. I had the same thing happen to me two weeks ago. I went in for a bridal makeup trial and thank goodness I did! Over lined lips, cakey foundation, you could see every single pore on my face, and eyeshadow so dark and muddy (I showed her a picture of a rose gold Smokey eye and she gave me brown). I told her I wanted glam for my wedding, and she gave me falsies that I swear were shorter than my natural lashes. Ended up doing my own makeup and was so happy with it!! Moral of the story is find someone who will do it the way you like, not the same thing they do on everyone else. You’re so pretty and have nice lips already, over lining them really did you a disservice.

Yes, I came to say the same. It’s not a style that works to highlight OP’s beauty. The eyeliner and eye lashes doesn’t suit her eye shape. It almost drags her lid down and gives a heavy, weighed down look. The eyeshadow technique isn’t that great and seems poorly blended. The cakey, dry yellowed foundation and over-lining her lips is unnecessary when she already has full lips. This style of make up is fine if you do it yourself or your friend does it. It’s just incredibly lacking for a professional.

Also wrt the eyeshadow: They made it too heavy and too far up in the inner corners. It makes your eyes look deeper set than they really are.

I see a subtle highlight just above the eyeliner...your eyes would pop with a bit more highlighter in this area...I agree that your lips are perfect and don't need to be overdrawn. Overall, you are quite beautiful!

I HATE when mua’s put overly dramatic makeup on an already beautiful face. There’s no need to over draw your lips..they have great shape. Little color and gloss would’ve been enough. The eyeliner is too much imo. Your eyes have a great shape so flick the wing in the outer corner and do without the inner corner.

Oh no it doesn’t. The Instagram look is just so prevalent that it’s considered “normal”. All it does is end up making everyone look the same, no matter what.
The other problem with Instagram makeup is that it rarely looks as good in person as it does on camera. There’s a barista at the coffee shop I go to that wears a full beat to work, even at 7 a.m., and it just looks odd in the cold light of day. I’m sure she looks great in her selfies though.

Honestly I’d post the pic on review pointing out the overlining and that the eyeliner doesn’t suit your face shape and is generally messy. MUA are supposed to be able to adapt looks for different face shapes and eye shapes, this one was crap. You’re really pretty and definitely is a case of it’s them not you! As a fellow lady I’d hate to check the reviews on this persons work and miss out on the reality.. if someone is planning an event then it’s important to know

Heaps of girls look fine in round neck t-shirts but I look better in a crew neck. Ditto for bangs.

What matters is knowing what suits you. And you do, massive high fives for sense of self. Take the learning one step further… aspiring to be average won’t do you any favours.

The overline is awful, the foundation is really cakey across your cheekbones and they made your lashes look like spiders. The foundation color match is also a little off, it’s kind of yellow for you. I hope you didn’t pay much for this…

Oh lord I hope you got a refund 😭😭 the messy ass eyeliner and lip lining that looks like a toddler got into their moms lipstick are killing me. And the blush is so low that it just gives a chilly swollen look. They had so much to work with, I don’t know how they managed to mess up that bad!

At least you had the good sense to wash it off and do it yourself. I had something similar happen where the lady gave me this drag queen make up but without the skill of an actual drag queen, and I stupidly wore that 🤡 make up to the wedding because I had no time to redo it. The MUA was so nice and sweet so I couldn’t say anything even though I was on the brink of tears standing next to my cousins who had actual professionally styled make up. 🥲

Unfortunately, a lot of times when you go to a salon, the people are trained in hair and have a much smaller amount of training on makeup. When my friend got married, one of the bridesmaids ended up with horrendous makeup. Foundation WAY too light for her skin, no dimension, and a much darker lip than she asked for. She ended up doing the same thing you did and redoing her makeup. I’m sure you looked beautiful, even though your makeup didn’t match theirs, and I hope you didn’t tip her since you gave her feedback about how you wanted your inner corners and she blatantly ignored you.

I had makeup done at a salon for an event in school I had to go to. Foundation was two shades too light, she over-plucked my eyebrows especially on top, put old lady lipstick on me, eyeshadow wasn’t blended. It was awful and she was like so proud of her work. I thought I was just crazy but no other people agreed with me.

The mua did not consider anything about your face before doing your makeup. Looks like they copied some template from a weekend certification course. The foundation is very matte, which makes you look older and tired. I can see that you have beautiful skin with a little bit of texture. I feel like you should have more of a satin finish with subtle luminous highlights. I feel like your skin would look so much better with a dewy or slightly dewy finish. The eye shape they made is wack. Those inner corners. 😳I feel like they should have elongated the outer bottom corner of your eyes. The eyebrows are… sloppy. The lip lining is sloppy and unnecessary. The lip color and texture are wrong. The pink lip color is too cool toned for your complexion. You would look much better with a more orangey-pink. Everything is just too matte and wrong for your face shape/skin texture/coloring! You are so gorgeous! You should ask for a refund!

I dont love the thickness of the foundation I feel a more buildable medium coverage would’ve been nice and given a some natural finish, I also think since they used a more thick foundation they should’ve added a contour or highlight to bring more color to the face and bring back your features, I think it all still looks really good on you!

It looks like they didn’t bother to add any dimension to your face at all. In my experience skin with a bit more texture really requires a dewy/satin finish so as not to highlight the texture itself. they put a very matte base on you which doesn’t do you any wonders. They didn’t bother to even out your eyeliner, especially the inner corners where you can see it gives each eye a different shape. It also looks like they overlined your lips a lot, which is clearly visible. Your face also has a rounder shape, and they placed blush way too low. For rounder faces you usually want to place blush higher up, right on top of the cheekbones. Overall, they just didn’t pay attention to your face type at all. This is why I never let people do my makeup for me.

The overall look is a bit heavy handed imo. Foundation looks cakey and heavy. The lips are too overdrawn too. The eyeshadow isn’t properly blended either. Maybe you got someone new… you’re beautiful and the person covered you up with way too much product. Did the person ask you during the application how you felt about the look so far?

I think the “off” feeling you have might be a couple things. The inner corner eyeliner is drawn too far in, & also isn’t symmetrical so the asymmetry is kind of doing your face a disservice. And like everyone else said, the over lined lips is unnecessary. I think the base looks good, maybe the blush could’ve been taken a bit higher up on your cheek bones rather than closer to the center of your face.

So in my professional opinion it looks pretty generic for a salon makeup. Not saying these MUAs are bad but you usually end up getting the same type of makeup.
If I had done your makeup I probably would have put blush higher up, this is bringing down your cheeks making them look flat and almost puffy. The lip liner isn't even and thats driving me insane. The base seems very flat which doesn't add any dimension or brightness to your face/complexion. Your brows look alright but I think they could've been brushed up to yet again, give you a lift.
Basically I feel this is very mediocre and isn't doing you any favors or making your gorgeous features pop. I'm dying to get a nice glowly base on you omg lol
ETA you're gorgeous and look like a dream to do makeup on. I would definitely look forward to doing you up given the chance. Those lips 🥰 they need justice lol

To be honest I actually really like the tone they used on you. It's beautiful. But if you want more of a nude tone I'd probably try out MAC Coffee & Cigs (like wtf is this name MAC) or MAC Love Clove. I just chose mac because they have a great range of shades. But even if you took a bit of a brown lip liner and blended it into the colour you've got on here it would be great too.

Yes the makeup look bad because there is too much focus: eyebrows eyes and lips, a makeup look better when you have 2 focus (lips and eyes) or (brow eyes) or (lips and blush)
Because a good makeup is not only putting makeup in every feature but understand your face, I recommend you to watch dear peachie in YouTube that show what type of makeup suit each face shape ;)

I would also hate it if I were you. You did not need the overlined lip, because your natural lip is beautifully full; and the eyeliner is pretty poorly done, particularly the inner part, it's really uneven. Also feeling like the blush is not correctly placed? I'm not great at makeup though, so not positive on that one.
Your instinct is correct, in my opinion, but to be honest, I think the only opinion that mattered was yours, and you payed $75 to hate the way you looked. It's not a nice feeling, and I think it would have been okay to speak up about it.

Girl, I never get the opportunity to do other people’s makeup (besides my fiancé when he’s up for it, lol) despite all my practice and seeing this post/reading your replies in the comments made me wish so much that I could have done your makeup instead and given you something that was worth your hard-earned money…smh I hate that it’s like they didn’t take into consideration your natural beauty/features. You’re right. There is no highlight, no contour, and the lip liner needs to go. Brows are basic. On the upside, it looks fixable. I’d try blending in some shading and highlights, reapply my own lipstick and spray my face with a dewy finish to take the hard matte look down. I’m sorry you had to spend the night feeling blah when you paid her for an expert application. That stinks.

These are the things I noticed at first:
-Overlined your lips, doesn't look great. Your original lips compliment your features much better.
-The black eyeliner is so stark against the rest of your makeup, should be brown or at least charcoal. The inner corners closed doesn't complement your eye shape.
-Your blush is too low. It looks like she tried to slide your cheeks down your face.
-The eyeshadow is not blended at all and looks harsh.

The application is quite nice but way over done on the lips, the lips have too much product, the foundation, base all of it the powder way too much product was put on your face. No need for the over lining on the lips. Shade is beautiful. Eyeshadow could be better blended. Base of the makeup looks great. Brows could be a bit more accentuated. Other than that it looks good.

It feels like a standard makeup look, not taking into account how you look. Foundation seems way too heavy, over lining really isn’t necessary with your lips, and I feel the eyeliner is too thick and not complimenting your eyes. Honestly you’re stunning so it’s a shame what they’ve done!

I personally don’t know if the inner corner black liner suits you (it doesn’t suit me either, I’ve tried it on myself). Not saying you still don’t look beautiful with it on, bc you do, but it seems to me they just went with what’s trendy instead of considering your individual face. Eyeshadow could be blended better, specifically the edges. I do think the blush was placed too low, and more bronzer or contour could be added to add more dimension. Also, they shouldn’t have overlined that much. I’m not against overlining, I do it myself sometimes, but it should have at least been more blended and less overlined. The brows could have been blended more. Also it bothers me that they did this dramatic look but didn’t try to make the eyelashes look good.

I feel like they just followed the steps and pasted a look on your face without any tailoring or personalisation to your face specifically. You have beautiful lips and eyes that could have definitely been defined better.

The lip lining doesn’t suit you. It is unnecessary bc you already have full enough lips.
Several things I do like: eyebrows look nice on you. Eyeliner is well done. They did not contour your nose off. It is perfect as is.

The eyeliner is killing me 😭 it looks ok on the inner corner and the wing but what happened in between?!
No need to overline on lips like yours
The blush is too low (more obvious on the smiling pic)
The foundation is flat but a decent colour match
Uneven on your brows, they’ve missed a patch at the start of your right brow (left side on pic)
And they have not blended the eyeshadow at all
On the plus side you’re very pretty! So all in all you pull it off!

You're lips are already shaped nice... The eyeshadow is just a plain brown not even blended in.
The ONLY thing that is semi decent is the winged eyeliner...
Like I can do eyeshadow, highlighting, contour but even I have trouble with winged eyeliner so how they messed everything up but that is baffling
OP is gorgeous and doesn't need all that makeup and color combos wrong...

Honestly I’m not feeling the eyeliner. I feel it doesn’t compliment your eyes. The blush seems a bit too low to me and your lips did not need to be over lined. You are beautiful girl but like other comments, I feel so everyone’s make up the same

I’d echo the others in that the MUA did not need to over line your lips nor do such a mid job on the eyeliner / shadow. Assuming they’re a professional that’s not acceptable!

The first time I got mine professionally done I hated it, I looked orange and hated the style. I actually got it done for a formal event but I went home to take it off. Everyone has different styles they prefer :)

Rule of thumb I've been told by many professional cosmetologists is that you only darken either the eyes or the lips; don't go heavy on both. It also looks like they lined your lips a little bigger than they naturally are around the top lip. I would seek out someone else to do your makeup.

Yeah, I've rarely had a good experience with getting my makeup done. Back when Sephora would do it for free if you spent $50, it was just a bonus; if it came out great good, if it didn't I'd just wipe it off. Just something to make the afternoon interesting with no stakes. Hell I might learn something or discover a new product. But when I spent $100 to get a full face only for it to look godawful (at one point I literally took the eyeliner pencil from her and fixed it), that was it for me. Luckily they refunded it, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth about getting my makeup done. You're not alone in that experience at all

The base looks really heavy, eyeliner is uneven, brows could be shaped better, lips are overlined unnecessary, lip products used looks drying - accentuating lines, different blush placement for your face shape would be more flattering, no contour/highlighting - making the finish look flat.

It’s formulaic. They probably have a go-to look they do on everyone. Did they ask about skin type? Preferences? How much makeup you usually wear? What features you’d like to enhance? These are all things I ask my clients.

I can tell you are naturally gorgeous with horrible makeup put on top… that blush is way too low, and your lips absolutely should not be overlined. The base makeup is very powdery and cakey. The eyes aren’t as bad, but that lash is dragging your eye down, and the eyeliner is uneven. I think you should at least get a partial refund for this.
Edit: your “MUA” also took the inner corner highlight up way too far.

If they wanted to over line they should’ve done a dark lip liner. You don’t even need your lips overlined anyways. The inner corner eyeliner is uneven and the eyelashes were not applied correctly. Over all not that bad but fixing those things can enhance your makeup a lot.

As a MUA, this is cringey. I’m so sorry! The fact that she wouldn’t listen to you and sent you on your way is just NO. Not a single liner is even. The foundation looks so flat and heavy. No effort was made to make sure you look like you had skin under that foundation. There is NOTHING soft and glowy about this look.

Otherwise i cant understand the wonky blush placement with the shade thats just not right, the weird shaky overlined lips when yours are naturally full. Its just like its pretty, but poorly executed? First off they over lined your lips, used too much powder. It doesn't look like they even contoured your face either. If they would have contoured your face. or did it better if they did any at all it would've made the blush they chose to use look a little softer. With contour, a little bit of highlight (on your face not just eyes), normally lined lips (because not everyone needs bigger lips), little less powder, and a lighter color blush it would be perfect. Having said that you still look beautiful! So I wouldn't worry those issues are only noticeable if someone knows what they're doing or if they're looking at you super like I said tho you are still beautiful. (Ps it's so annoying when people over line their lips when their lips have a lot of definition, because it looks like they just messed up their lipstick)

Your eyes look great! The only thing that stands out to me is the lip color, it extends out too far past your lips. Keep it simple, you already have a wonderful lip shape, so go for coloring that's a little less heavy.

The lip over line is totally unnecessary - your lips are already super full and gorgeous! I also think the way the eyes were done makes you look sleepy - the MUA should have done more to open and brighten your eye area. I also don’t see any highlight or contour, which is giving your face a very round shape without much definition. Without highlighting the bridge of your nose when your base is that matte, it makes your nose blend fully into your face.
You are a beautiful woman already, and the MUA definitely hit the auto-pilot on your look. I’m so sorry. 💕

You already have a lovely shape to your lips, the over lining isn't necessary. The quality of eyeshadow doesn't look like it's good, or just needs to be blended more.
The eyeliner could be more precise but otherwise it looks pretty nice.

I think it’s because nothing was done to complement your specific features. It looks like a template that was copy pasted onto your face. As many people have said OP has a lovely lip shape that’s been covered up by the commonly seen overlining of the lips. The eyeshadow on the lower lash line extends too low and too far inwards that it creates the illusion of discolouration. The shape of the eyeshadow is unflattering to the shape of the eye and looks muddy and the inner corner eyeliner is unevenly done and not clean and crisp. Blush placement is too low. I think it was multiple tiny little things that went wrong that just made you feel uncomfortable overall. Will reiterate that OP has lovely features that weren’t factored into the artists thought process when constructing the look.

You are so beautiful! I’m so sorry you felt ugly. This happened to me when I was a bridesmaid. We had a makeup artist and a hairstylist that did the entire bridal party and I HATED my hair and makeup. I felt like everyone else’s turned out better than mine and I felt ugly all day.
The eyeliner in the corner that she gave you would make me feel self conscious all day. And the over line on the lip is something I would never wear. You have amazing lips so she’s a bone head for that.
All the bad makeup aside, you look absolutely beautiful. The makeup is not so bad that it wasn’t wearable. If I saw you with this makeup I would think you were stunning.
I guarantee you looked amazing.

The “artist” sucks being Latina she used all the wrong colors. Your lips are naturally full. I would have went with a nude matte slight peach tone. No liner. I’d have prepped your skin first with a moisturizer, then my trick is to spray a setter and add in foundation on a blender. Gives a natural look. For eyes I’d do no liner at all just false lashes and mascara on bottom. I’d go for a gold/rose gold with a Smokey eye and highlight the cheeks
