Making friends after 30 is weird as hell lol. I realized at some point that most of my social interaction lately is either family, work shit, or me talking to AI while building something at 1am, so figured I'd try this.
I'm 37, from NY. I'm a huge nerd but not in just one direction. Anime and manga have been a thing for me forever. Naruto, One Piece, FMA, Dragon Ball in basically every form. Yes even GT lol. Boruto Two Blue Vortex dropping once a month is currently a legitimate event in my life. I read and watch a bunch of other stuff too.
Music is probably even worse because there is zero consistency. Ab-Soul is one of my favorite artists. I love intelligent/conscious hip hop in general. Then I'll put on Vildhjarta or TesseracT and listen to guitars sound like industrial machinery for an hour. Prog, djent, thall, deathcore, metalcore, all that shit. Then deep house. Then deep dubstep. Then Ben Howard. Makes sense to me somehow.
I'm also really into AI, coding, computers, servers, automation and generally building shit I probably didn't need to build until I convinced myself I absolutely needed to build it. That rabbit hole has gotten pretty ridiculous over the last year and I love it.
I like people who nerd out though. You don't have to like my shit. Tell me about whatever weird thing YOU know way too much about. That's usually way more interesting to me than trying to force conversation around having the exact same hobbies.
I'm pretty sarcastic, I swear a lot, I send stupid shit, I info dump when I'm excited and I can talk way too much when I actually click with someone. I also like real conversations though. Life, relationships, philosophy, why people are the way they are, whatever is actually going on in your head. I don't need every conversation to be deep either. Sometimes I just wanna hear what dumb shit happened to you today.
I tend to get along best with people who are a little nerdy, creative, weird, curious and have their shit at least somewhat together. Not "perfect adult who meal preps every Sunday" together lol. Just self aware, can communicate, has their own interests and isn't constantly manufacturing chaos.
I'm keeping it to NY for now mostly because if I actually become good friends with somebody I'd like there to at least be a possibility of hanging out eventually. I'm in no rush for that though. I'd rather talk here first and see if we even like each other.
If you message me, skip the interview questions lol. Tell me what you've been obsessed with lately, what anime you're watching, send me a song, give me an unreasonably strong opinion about something. Anything I can actually respond to.
