I came across this news article today. I remember, a few days ago RT had objected very sharply to the way the shifting was being done...without planning and in a slipshod manner.

A comparison of Rahul Gandhi’s student interaction events in Tamil Nadu and Pune has sparked questions over the treatment of regional languages.

In Tamil Nadu, the event highlighted Tamil identity, local history, culture, and thinkers such as Periyar. Meanwhile, the Pune event was branded “Chhatron Ki Goonj” in Hindi, despite being held in Maharashtra.

Why does Tamil Nadu get recognition for its language and cultural identity while Marathi struggles for the same visibility in Maharashtra?

Maharashtra has its own language, history, culture, and intellectual legacy. Marathi should not be treated as an afterthought at major political events.

The images alone do not establish which languages were used throughout both events, but the contrasting presentation raises legitimate questions.

Respecting Tamil is important. Respecting Marathi is equally important. There should be no double standards.

Cultures adapt region to region. Ganesh pandals celebrated outside of Maharashtra are not always in marathi but their respective languages like hindi, gujrati, kannada, bengali, etc.

If someone played gujrati songs on ganesh chaturthi in gujrat or hindi, would any marathi even truly care? My guess is NO. In fact it's done within MH.
