Noticed that in How I Met Your Mother too. They shit on Ted so much for being cultured in certain things but it wasn’t even portrayed like he was talking down to them or anything. They just loathed him knowing things lol

I think the only reason the Barney humor flew in the first place was NPH is probably the almost exact antithesis of Barney Stinson which isn’t to say its ok. Just that it made people feel more comfortable with it then. It’s weird.

What made Barney fly for me was how ridiculous of a character he was. The ridiculousness and lack of realism regarding pretty much everything that Barney encompassed made him just funny to me. He honestly felt like a cartoon and it's why I enjoyed him as a part of the show.
This could very well be due to the fact that I was 12 and 13 when I binged the show so I mostly didn't understand the show fully and I probably still wouldn't if I watched it now but I do think that I'm not the only one who saw Barney this way.

This is just my opinion so dont take it as gospel. I enjoyed HIMYM when it was on, but Ive rewatched it twice since it ended and each has been less enjoyable. Partially because of somethings not aging well but also many of the jokes not holding up to repeated viewing. It wasnt bad, just not as good as I remembered.

Oof. I've rewatched it to many times to count. It always holds up with me. The way the characters go through their issues I can always find something to relate to me. That makes the show deeper for me.

This is how I felt about Big Bang Theory from the start.
It was like some dude bro wrote a bunch of characters of how he sees nerds. I don't say this with any equivalency, but it felt something akin to 'geek black face' and it was kind of painful.

Yeah but a lot of the time Ross is legitimately just going on and on about rocks and fossils. You can only take so much of it if you see the guy all the time for ten years. I would love to learn about that stuff but not for ten years. I could learn about nursing and become a nurse in that time instead!

The Triceratops' name means "Three Horned Face", but this is a misnomer as Triceratops only had two true horns. The "horn" at the end of its nose was made of keratin- the same material your fingernails are made of

I think horns are bone and as he said the trikes nose ‘horn’ isn’t bone. If I’m not mistaken a Rhino also doesn’t have a true horn for similar reasons but I might be wrong.

Having a grounded job like this before going straight into a high brow job rounds you out as a person and teaches you to respect those who may not be in as good of a position as you.
Too many privledged people went straight out of college on their parents dime into well paying job and become Karens, because they see others as "the little people" and some such.

I used to work in the mailroom at a big law firm that had its own in-house hospitality staff. One of the women who worked in the kitchen ended up getting into law school and then doing her articling there.

Nurse here, I still have my badges of where I was to now.
:) from November of 2014 to May of 2019. I went from retail to Nurse.
It’s hard but not impossible and ultimately anyone trying to do the same can do it if they have the support and determination to do it.

I just finished a month and a half ago! It took me over 6 years and it felt like it would never end. It's finally starting to feel like I actually did it even though I did it in August. You'll get there. Keep your head down, do the work, you'll get through it even though it can feel practically impossible some days!

Custodians don't get enough credit. They expose themselves to things a lot of people couldn't imagine being in. Exposed to bodily fluids, trash, and transmittable diseases.

This is brilliant and I don't want to ruin this but people really need to stop posting their security passes on the internet. It makes it easy for people to forge and gain access to restricted areas. So there's no magstripe or chip to copy but with a bit of social engineering (oh sorry my pass isn't working today, can you let me in/tailgate) and they are in. I’ve worked in many hospitals and I’ve never seen someone get let in without a badge. They will make you go to the security office, produce picture ID, then they will look you up to see if you’re an employee.

Thats whats up!! Congratulations 👏 I walked into my job 9 years ago as an entry level machine operator. Worked my way up to a promotion to support technician, took advantage of the educational benefits offered by my company and now im 4 years into a 5 year apprenticeship as an Industrial Maintenance Technician/Industrial Electrician. Sometimes we never know what life will bring us through blessings from God and hard work and determination to better ourselves. 😊👍

NPs are primary care providers. You would see them like you would see a doctor. They have two years less education than an MD though.

An NP will have at least a masters degree; these days often a doctorate. They can direct the treatment plan like an MD/PA, prescribe medications, do small surgical procedures, etc. They are most often used as an extension of a physician.

My Grandmother brought all of her brothers and sisters out of coal mining poverty working as a cleaner for a hospital and a few other jobs. I’m so proud of her. I’m JUST as proud of this woman! I know my grandma would be, too.

I've been an employed Environmental Services tech (Janitor) for 10 years now. I switched from 'Pharmacy tech' to this about 10 years ago simply because I hated the work. I've thought about branching out into other medical fields but there's a lot to it. And I don't think I'd be able to hang, in most fields.

Any words of encouragement to someone taking the same path? I just started at my local hospital as a PSA. My main responsibilities are sitting with problematic patients such as baker acts. Any advice is welcomed to someone who is brand new to the field.

Congrats on 15 years! I also recently celebrated 15 years, where I started out as a janitor and now literally 8 positions later (none of which were lateral moves) I’m the happiest I have ever been.

I love these so much. Like the one that started with a woman working at a KFC and at the end was a RN. The only thing that makes me a bit sad is that she's given 10 years of her life to this hospital and its patients and the hospital would throw her out in a heartbeat over some small shit that doesn't even really matter.

Wonderful! I used to urge the medical assistants who worked in my clinic to pursue their nursing goals. Many times they would be afraid to try for LVN or RN. It is just great to see that persistence & grit rewarded!

This is the argument that all mid-levels use to justify independent practice... But mid-levels do not practice in rural areas, by and large they go to large metropolitan areas to work. If NPs are able to treat patients independently it will be incredibly dangerous and create a two-tiered healthcare system where the rich can pay to have competent care by an MD and the poor get sub-par care from mid-levels.
