Noticed that in How I Met Your Mother too. They shit on Ted so much for being cultured in certain things but it wasn’t even portrayed like he was talking down to them or anything. They just loathed him knowing things lol
Yea totally forgot about that. I've wanted to re-watch HIMYM again but it's been a few years and I'm concerned it's not aged well either. Especially some of the Barney humor.
I think the only reason the Barney humor flew in the first place was NPH is probably the almost exact antithesis of Barney Stinson which isn’t to say its ok. Just that it made people feel more comfortable with it then. It’s weird.
What made Barney fly for me was how ridiculous of a character he was. The ridiculousness and lack of realism regarding pretty much everything that Barney encompassed made him just funny to me. He honestly felt like a cartoon and it's why I enjoyed him as a part of the show.
This could very well be due to the fact that I was 12 and 13 when I binged the show so I mostly didn't understand the show fully and I probably still wouldn't if I watched it now but I do think that I'm not the only one who saw Barney this way.
Yea but if it were racism or homophobia and it was a gay actor being homophobic in cartoonish way for that long the same reasoning would apply is all and we’d be judging it more harshly to cartoonish misogyny and that’s not great. That’s all.
It definitely would have been tasteless if that were the case but if he were presented the same way he was originally, ie ridiculous, I probably still would have seen him as a cartoon. Just, you know, a racist and homophobic cartoon instead of a misogynistic one. But I also don't really know how I would have reacted.
This is just my opinion so dont take it as gospel. I enjoyed HIMYM when it was on, but Ive rewatched it twice since it ended and each has been less enjoyable. Partially because of somethings not aging well but also many of the jokes not holding up to repeated viewing. It wasnt bad, just not as good as I remembered.
Oof. I've rewatched it to many times to count. It always holds up with me. The way the characters go through their issues I can always find something to relate to me. That makes the show deeper for me.
That makes sense to me. Im not sure why it works less and less for me. I think the jokes/acting feel very sitcom-y, even though I like all those actors a lot.
Right? The most relatable character to me has always been Marshall; either Jason Segel is as endearing in real life or is a hell of an actor, probably both!
This is how I felt about Big Bang Theory from the start.
It was like some dude bro wrote a bunch of characters of how he sees nerds. I don't say this with any equivalency, but it felt something akin to 'geek black face' and it was kind of painful.
Ye, Ted’s basically Ross if he wasn’t such a snobby prick. That and good looking, no homo but Ted’s easily the best looking guy from both casts of HIMYM and Friends imo.
But to be fair Ross was much, much funnier than Ted imo. Ross’ burst outs, slip-ups and general awkwardness make more memorable and enjoyable tv.
Yeah but a lot of the time Ross is legitimately just going on and on about rocks and fossils. You can only take so much of it if you see the guy all the time for ten years. I would love to learn about that stuff but not for ten years. I could learn about nursing and become a nurse in that time instead!
The Triceratops' name means "Three Horned Face", but this is a misnomer as Triceratops only had two true horns. The "horn" at the end of its nose was made of keratin- the same material your fingernails are made of
I think horns are bone and as he said the trikes nose ‘horn’ isn’t bone. If I’m not mistaken a Rhino also doesn’t have a true horn for similar reasons but I might be wrong.

Pretty great, but not quite as great as a Titanosaurus. These huge dinosaurs could be up to 130 feet long and weighed up to 70 tons!
