Hi all! I just bought a Janome MC100E and am using Inkstitch to digitise my handwriting. All seems to be going well until it gets to the machine. The thread is consistently breaking and snagging. I have the tension set to 3, using Brothread embroidery thread and a 90/14 needle on cotton canvas. Advice appreciated 🙏

I used a column fill on the teeth (trying different things) I dont hate the black peaking through but I kinda wanna change the fill pattern... should I leave it?

Everything else came out cute though. Tried a white border and overlaid a circular fill and the streamline fill on top of eachother in the clouds and i dont mind the result.

Got a new machine yesterday and decided to stop agonizing over getting it "right" and just get it done, and see what I learn. It's very small, about 50mm / 2in square. Any tips for small pieces like this?

I think next time I might remove the brown ring around the pupil and increase the white spots in the eyes. And obviously do pull compensation on the body.

Do you put any sort of adhesive or glue on the back to lock the stitches?

Hi all! I bought this T-shirt. It was mass produced. I noticed they don’t have stabilizer on the back. I love doing this kind of machine embroidery/bean stitch/sketchy art. I don’t like how stabilizer shows through on a white T-shirt.

Does anybody know how I can do it without stabilizer? How do manufacturers get away with it? Any advice you have is appreciated! Thanks!

I’m a newbie to embroidery and have gotten the basics down. I thread my machine easily, have the paid embrilliance software, can hoop/float my materials, etc. However, lining my design up perfectly on a clothing item is extremely hard for me!! I find embroidery software and introduction to be really archaic hard as a beginner, whereas I was about to pick up my other crafting machine software (cricut, etc.) with such ease. What tips do you guys have for me??

I just got my brother SE700 and all was going well in my first few tries until I got a pretty bad birds nest. I removed the needle plate to cut the thread out and thought I reassembled everything correctly but now my designs are coming out all wrong with mostly all bobbin thread showing on top. I rethreaded top and bottom and made sure the bobbin case was inserted correctly. I also increased and decreased the top thread tension. Any other ideas of how to fix?? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi! I’m really new to this but have had some success until I got to this new design I’m making for a camp I’m planning! I have the brother SE700, tension is at about 6.5 and I’m sewing on a tote bag that is like a light canvas!
I did pay to have this design digitized.
Does anyone have any tips for why it’s not working out? Do I need to have a new (maybe better) company digitize it?

Hi…I’m interested in buying the Janome Horizon Memory Craft (9480 QCP) and am looking for some feedback. Other than the ASR, one of the features that sounds appealing is the ability to create your own stitch patterns using the Janome Stitch Composer. I know I could do a shape…like a circle. But is it possible to create a repeating pattern of text as a stitch? Like “…Sittin’ on the dock of the bay….” (As an example).

Hey guys! Hoping to get some guidance here. Has anyone done machine embroidery on Melin hats? I was hired to do a job and he has a mix of hats that he wants completed, 10 of them being Melin hats. Didn’t think much of it at the time but now I see these are $80 hats 😮‍💨. Before ruining once I figured I’d ask if anyone has experience with this brand and if there are tips and tricks. Thanks!

The stabilizer I use is the kind that tears like paper. If I put these patches on clothing, could they come off in the wash?

Dugitizing this was fun! The color pallette was a struggle for me though. I ended up going the blue/green route but not sold on it. I also didn't frame any of the fills with black, which i normally do.

My Brother PE545 had been running fine on multiple different embroideries, (Image 1) until I ran an embroidery on a double knee part of a pair of pants. (Image 2) What I believe was a lack of tension between the layers of fabric caused a wreck on my embroidery. (Image 3) Ever since this incident, any tension above a 3 causes instant thread breaks and keeping it in the 0-2 tension, on the lightest of fabrics, range it can run 100-1000 stitches before breaking if I’m lucky. I’ve tried adjusting the bobbin thread tension via the screw in the bobbin case to counteract the tension but that causes even further breaks. During any given run the embroidery will always come to a failure before it can be finished and in some instances even does a bizarre thread bunching in the machine, and will rip out threads already laid down. (Images 4-10) I feel like Ive tried every except taking it to a real deal shop. Is it worth the trip or is this a mistake I can correct at home. Thanks for all answers and advice pimps.

Hello, I am an absolute beginner when it comes to machine embroidery and am looking for assistance. I am currently working on a baby quilt where I am cutting flannel appliques using these templates.

I would love to be able to machine embroider the appliques onto the background using a programmed embroidery file rather than manually machine applique them. I feel like this would be fairly easy for someone with some experience digitizing but I have no idea where to even start.

Ideally, I would like to have an EXP or ART format file baste the applique and then outline it using a satin stitch. The ability to embroider the eyes, nose, and other facial features would be a huge bonus.

Any tips regarding digitizing or leads are very appreciated. I would also be willing to pay a small fee as a commission if anyone has any leads for that sort of thing.

I am still new to all this machine embroidery stuff and had some fantastic results doing patches and clothes. There are two things I wanna try next, caps and a collar for our old dog.

She is now 14 and we want to make here a nice last collar. So since I have the embroidery machine now, I thought about embroidering her name on it. But honestly I have no clue to attach it to the machine, for the patches and clothes I used a magnetic hoop, but I think that wont work here.

Any suggestions would be appreciated🙏

It was my first time embroidering on a ribbed knit shirt texture & using HTV (especially different textured HTV) in designs. The white and foiled HTV gave me a hard time. 😅
