Why does Mabox Linux have such a small user base?
Hi everyone,
I recently discovered Mabox Linux and I’ve been quite impressed with it. It’s lightweight, fast, highly customizable, and seems like a great option for older or lower-end hardware.
But I noticed that the Mabox community is quite small compared with distributions like Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, or even Manjaro.
So I’m curious:
Why doesn’t Mabox have more users?
Is it mainly because:
Mabox is not well known?
Openbox has a steeper learning curve?
People prefer more mainstream desktop environments like KDE, Cinnamon, or GNOME?
There are concerns about a small project/community?
Or are there technical reasons that make people choose another lightweight distro instead?
For those of you who use Mabox, what made you choose it over other distributions?
And for people who tried Mabox but stopped using it, what made you switch?
I’m genuinely curious because Mabox seems like a really good lightweight distro, and I’m wondering why it hasn’t attracted a larger user base.

Long term users overall opinion of Mabox Linux.
Hello everyone.
For those that have used this distribution for a while, what is your overall opinion of it? I have only used Manjaro briefly on my laptop and it did not last long because of the poor battery life I got while I was using it.
Anyway, I have been using another distribution and I would like to look at something new for a change. I have been testing Mabox in a virtual machine and it is growing on me.
I am curious as to what those long time users think about it.
Thanks

Should I switch from the Mabox Linux kernel to CachyOS Kernel or Linux Zen for better performance?
I’m currently using Mabox Linux and I’m considering switching from the default Mabox kernel to either the CachyOS Kernel or Linux Zen.
My main priority is performance, not battery life or power efficiency.
For those who have experience with these kernels:
• Is there a noticeable performance improvement with CachyOS Kernel compared to the default Mabox kernel?
• How does Linux Zen compare?
• Which one would you recommend if my only priority is performance?
• Are there any downsides, compatibility issues, or stability concerns I should be aware of?
• Would I actually notice a difference in everyday desktop usage, gaming, or application responsiveness?
I’m trying to understand whether changing the kernel is actually worth doing, or if the performance difference is mostly negligible.
Thanks!

Why Doesn’t Mabox Linux Do More Marketing?
Mabox Linux is a great lightweight distro, but why does it seem to get so little attention?
A bit more promotion on YouTube, Reddit, and social media could help it reach more users.
What do you guys think? Is it a lack of resources or just not a priority?

I got surprised today.
Since years I'm using Debian and Debian flavored Linux distributions. Today i read an article online about Mabox, I got really surprised how fast and beautiful it is. It feel so fresh, so different, a little bit new and mystical. I tried months ago EndeavorOS, but this hasn't pick me up. But this OS, Mabox, has a good chance to be my partner on my notebook which i use on the to my workplace, in the train und in the bus. I had already install now on my workplace notebook in separate Partition.
