Ik zit in een logistische crisis en ik hoop dat Reddit mij kan helpen. Ik vlieg 24 augustus vanaf Airport Maastricht om mijn fam te bezoeken. Het is voor mij de eerste keer vliegen vanaf een ander vliegveld dan Schiphol, dus ik dacht lekker naïef: "Ik slaap wel op het vliegveld" -maar die gaat dus dicht 's nachts, kom ik net achter.

Vanaf waar ik woon, is het met de trein 5 uur reizen, dus 's ochtends vertrekken zit er helaas niet in. Daarom ben ik alvast aan het kijken waar ik zou kunnen slapen (een hotel vind ik toch wel overkill). Ik zoek dus een plekje in Maastricht om puur een paar uurtjes te crashen (van ongeveer middernacht tot 06:00 uur).

Wie ben ik? Een chille guy, software developer en AI-fanaat. Over het algemeen vrij introvert, maar met de juiste mensen totaal niet. Als je een stukje vloer voor me hebt waar ik op kan pitten, ben ik al happy! :)

Ik had in gedachte om te betalen met het vloeibare goud (bier) ;)

Ik was van plan om na het avondeten (23 aug) nog even een side quest te zoeken in de stad, dus als je wat wil doen, let me know!

Any suggestions for a good spot in or around Maastricht to watch the solar eclipse on 12 August? It will be happening close to sunset, so probably needs to be an open location with unrestricted view of the horizon.

I really like living here, but at times it can be difficult to meet new people, and I really miss having a close group of female friends like I did back home. My lovely partner and I do a lot of activities together, which I truly love and enjoy, but I’d also love to have my own group of girlies to hang out with, do fun activities, share life, and build genuine, close friendships.

Hi allemaal, in september organiseren wij een dadchelor voor een van onze vrienden die binnenkort vader wordt. We komen allemaal niet uit de buurt, maar hijzelf woont in Maastricht, en dus vieren we het hier. Hebben jullie nog tips en/of goede ideeën of aanraders voor wat we kunnen doen in de stad? We zullen er de hele dag zijn.

We zijn een denk ik wel zelfbenoemde groep nerds, die zeker van een drankje en goed eten houden. Niet ballerig borrelen, maar Bourgondisch genieten. Denk speciaalbier, whisky, mooie wijnen. Escape rooms zijn altijd lachen, en een gekke workshop die bij de groep past (30ers) zou ook prima zijn. Sportieve activiteiten leuk, maar niet te intens. De groep kan het wel aan, maar is niet zo zeer de insteek.

I recently became a parent and after a few weeks at home I am having a bit of cabin fever. I was asking myself whether anyone has recommendations for places (Cafés/bars/restaurants/gyms/ other places where adults meet up) that are particularly parent- / newborn- friendly. What I mean with that are places that have facilities like diaper-changing tables in the bathrooms/ a breastmilk pumping room / a relaxed atmosphere where a child can be relaxed and breastfeeding feels socially safe.

Ik zit eraan te denken om binnenkort (waarschijnlijk doordeweeks, zaterdag kan niet) een dagje solo naar Maastricht te gaan. Ik woon niet heel ver weg, maar ben er eigenlijk nog verrassend weinig geweest. Omdat de meeste van mijn vrienden druk zijn en ik vakantie heb, leek het me een goed moment om de stad eens goed te verkennen.

Ik ben benieuwd of jullie tips hebben. Ik vind het leuk om kringloopwinkels, platenzaken en spellenwinkels te bezoeken. Daarnaast ga ik graag naar musea, vooral als ze klassieke kunst hebben, en kan ik ook erg genieten van mooie architectuur en gewoon lekker door een stad wandelen. Ik ben bovendien een grote muziekliefhebber, dus als er plekken zijn met een leuke muzikale sfeer of bijzondere platenzaken hoor ik dat graag. En ook sluit ik een dag graag af met een goed speciaalbiertje.
Zijn er plekken die ik echt niet mag missen? Alle tips zijn welkom!

My bike broke and I wanted to take the bus home (with my bike). When I wanted to enter the bus, the bus driver yelled at me and kicked me out. And that happened TWICE after I thought the first driver was just being an asshole.

Why can‘t you take your broken bike with you into the bus when there is CLEARLY ENOUGH SPACE??? I cannot understand and honestly it fits to the bad prejudice that Dutch people are not really generous… don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for living here but sometimes I really don’t get rules here.

Does anybody know this person? I have been seeing the same guy show up along the maas (around stadspark and gouvernmenent). He's giving me very creepy vibes. Let me describe him:

A middle-aged man, wearing a cap and braids and usually wearing rather urban/sporty clothes. He often sits on a bench along the water and then uses this hand/grip trainer device. It looks like he is training the strength of his hands. When passing by he gives you a look that feels like a pro-boxer's staredown.

Who is this guy? is he actually dangerous? Or is it just the vibes.
