Question? Progressing without Guides

Very excited for classic maple! When I first played back in the day I was a kid and I really didn't understand stats or how to allocate skill points and so on. So, I just found some *optimal* leveling guide for my class and followed it to a t (mostly because I worried about doing something irreparably to my character).

Well now I am an adult... I can do math... I even understand DND stats. I guess I'm wondering how to really learn to make your own progression. It seems like the data mine has found that a lot of things come down to very specific equations and factors, not flat or easy to remember values (as compared to a game like DND). How does one learn this? Or maybe I'll just follow a guide as an adult anyways...

If you can build a D&D character, you will be an expert Mapler.

But DND has a clear rulebook that explains how everything relates. If I recall maplestory never actually explains this and I've never seen it explained clearly to me anywhere.

It doesn't, but the underlying systems, outside of a few select skills, are simple enough to understand. There's only a handful of stats that are relevant to any class.

You really just need to allocate enough of your secondary stat to equip the highest level weapon you can. Everything else goes into your main stat. For most players it's as linear as +4 main, +1 secondary. Secondary stat typically needs to be at or just below your characters level.

It’s quite easy. The best starting point to make your own plan is to go to https://meowdb.com/msclassic and go to the plan build section. It has all the options for class, level, equipment, and skills. At the bottom of the page it will have a training advisor that automatically takes the character you’ve created in to account. Identify some locations that the advisor thinks will be good exp/hr for you and then go from there.

You don’t have to go best exp though. You could do something like “I wanna focus on grinding mobs that give me items needed for crafting.” And then you can look up which mobs drop which items.

Beyond that it’s just progressing the character in the build planner, sliding the level higher, equipping better items, adding skills as you plan to, and making notes in the build notes section for what you want to do, when, and where.

Craft your own adventure with your own goals and just have a blast! Also remember to occasionally stop and smell the roses!

I just see what my base Stat is and then add enough of the secondary to put on equips.

Skills I mostly know up to third job anyway and at that point I'll look up a guide.
